Jake's post for the upcoming British GP:

Let's celebrate a great British Grand Prix

I must confess, at the start of the year I wasn't sure what to expect from Formula 1 in 2012. The question for me was: how could a sport that has enthralled us so much in recent seasons deliver again - while at the same time hold its own in a year so packed with stunning sporting spectacles?

We've had the European Football Championship, now followed swiftly by Wimbledon and then almost immediately the London Olympics will be upon us. It's a veritable feast for those sports lovers keen to sit down on the sofa in June and not get up again until late August (if I wasn't working I'd be one of them!).

Among such sporting riches I wondered just how F1 would make its voice heard. Well, here we are, almost at the midway point of the season and it seems I needn't have worried.

Due to the fact that my brain has probably only a hundredth of the power of Adrian Newey's and works at roughly a tenth of the speed of Sebastian Vettel's, there are many things I still can't work out about this sport. One of them: just how does it manage to keep on delivering storylines that even Brookside in its heyday would have been proud of?!

Meanwhile Alonso's training plan for today:
"Another intense day of preparation for the 3 GPs in 4 weekends in July...! Today 40km bike/ 10km run/ 40km bike .."

Doesn't seem to be that hard, right?

Pretty much on par with an Olympic Triathlon except the swimming distance of 1.5 km and pales in comparison to Ironman and Half Ironman triathlons which I'm extremely fond of.

The BBC thrashed ITV last night in terms of ratings for the football final. 10.2 million ==== 1.69 million.

The BBC is still the preferred choice amongst the masses. What's funny is that the final was the last live match for another 2 years. Add to that the fact that the Beeb may well be dropping the F1 soon and other sports coverage and it starts to look very dire for the foreseeable future.

Always has been the case for any simulcast of a football final(both broadcasters' coverage was quite poor in my opinion). I think BBC still have the League Cup final and 10 Football League games unless that may has chnaged.

Didn't BBC Sport get to the required 15% cut in costs after renegotiating the F1 contract and dropping the Grand National?

Yes, but it still might not be enough.

Sky have exclusive live rights to the Football League next season, the BBC will continue with their Football League Show for the next three seasons.

For cup competitions:

BBC Sport will continue to provide midweek highlights of the League Cup and dedicated highlights programmes from Wembley Stadium for the finals of the League Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Whats the decision over the new OT. We are going to go over the limit during the GP weekend especially if something controversial happens...

So the BBC have lost the rights to all of their live football until the World Cup, well that is disappointing but I still think considering the pressure on BBC Sport's budget that they have still managed to secure the rights to a good selection of sports that will be spread throughout the year.

Yeah, that would be the best thing to do and it would save Leunam some time during the weekend.
Agree. Pre emptve thanks to Leuman for the new OT and preview.

I agree. We would most certainly pass the mark by this weekend.

Leunam around?

Good article. I would like to see Jenson pick up the pace but I agree with him. He has his driving style and he sticks to it. Also shows how good a driver Alonso is, if that was ever questioned.

Who wouldn't kiss Button tho? lol

And what? EJ has a wig? lol... Never noticed but somehow I'm now surprised.

What even the most ardent fans of Formula One motorsport may have missed however is that the irrepressibly stylish Irishman wears a wig. In fact, he alternates between three different wigs.

Eddie Jordan may appear to be always immaculately coiffured when hanging out with Jake Humphrey, David Coulthard and the other BBC F1 boys, but he is actually entirely bald. Perhaps one reason that this has gone unnoticed by so many people for so long is that Jordan simulates his hair ‘growing’ in-between races by wearing wigs of different lengths.

Why is Eddie Jordan bald?

Though EJ’s baldness is not very well known, he makes no secret of it. Back in 2009 he told the Metro, “When I was young, I had a very serious accident: I broke both legs and damaged a nerve. I have alopecia and I got the right people to look after me. I’ve no problem with talking about that.”

It is not clear what the nature of this accident was or when it was sustained, but Jordan did break both legs in a motor racing accident during a stint driving in the Formula Ford championship in 1975, so this may well be the cause of his Alopecia.

Nah, that is terrible, someone else come up with a good title for the second OT.

Can't say I'm any better with titles, haha.

F1 GAF wills it, it will be done. I'll have a new OT day after tomorrow most likely. Probably a condensed version of the current OT.

This is what I had in mind, actually. Still taking suggestions.

Much as I like this one, I think it's a little too inside-joke.

Where did this meme come from? I must have missed it. I've seen other F1 Gaffers say it as well.

Something Maldonado said, I think it might have been last year. Probably referring to him and Hamiltons little drama at Spa.

I'm probably alone with this, but could you please change the image based text to actual text? I know it won't look as pretty anymore, but it makes things really hard to look up (ctrl + f is not an option) and it takes forever to load on a mobile device.

@Ed it started after Pastors move on Perez that was almost identical to what he did to Hamitlon last year. (if I may take some credit here) I dug out that interview and started saying stupid "on Prupose" replies because he pissed me/us off with his move

Then I created this

I still find it funny lol...

And I add my voice to brotkasten for the text instead of image

Can't wait to see what the Red Bull picture donation cars look like. More sports and teams should do stuff like this. McClaren fan, but big up to Red Bull on this one.

its nothing to do with the channels, its to do with who ITV still sticks with for the pre/post match, adrian fucking chiles, no one likes him, most actively hate him, ditch him, and the figures will go up
