Btw, I'm totally cool with the new suit. Definitely prefer the mask and lenses far more than the Raimi movies. Sure, they're changing some super iconic lines, but it worked very well. Also loved the shades chosen.

Any issues I had with the costume weren't that noticeable when watching the actual film. Spidey looked right.

In the credits it mentions that the costume was designed by Cirque du Soleil.

Oh, it was his review, he used the c-word which is now banned because of American sensibilities. D:

LOL... that is disappointing. My puritanical brethren make me ashamed most of the time.

The good vibes from this movie gives me hope. Will see it later. My wife loves Emma so maybe i can convince her to come.

Basically lots of fav scenes is Spider-man being Spider-man.

Fucking around with the car thief.
Chilling in the sewers playing games on his phone while waiting for a trail.
Talking to gwen on the phone in public while people looking at him.

What?! Cool. Mind posting it?

Paraphrased: "I gave him the algorithm that made it all possible."

I'd have a hard time believing that wasn't a deliberate nod to Eduardo and the algorithm he gave Mark for FaceMash.com. :P

Anyone else really dig the soundtrack? Had its own character for a change. Even
The Avengers sounded more phoned in to me.

Just went to cancel 3 of my tickets but I also picked up the tickets for me and my girlfriend, right in the middle. Excited now!

I love the cast, director, costume, high school stuff, romance, quirky Spidey and that they go through the origin again. Is there anything I won't like? Maybe Lizard's lack of a snout, it actually bothered me a bit in the trailer.

I had to piss a few times in the movie but what was up with all the
lizards marching to the sewer? Was he like putting out some kind of energy waves to attract them? Are they from the lab? I didn't think New York had lizards since they would die in the winter.

There was an unspoken hint that his presence seemed to attract them like an alpha male. They CAN smell very well, it's how he found Gwen.

Why? It's not unheard of in the animal kingdom for the alpha male to lead and other's of the same species to follow because of hormonal secretions. If anything it makes a lot of sense.

They looked to all be different lizards. Lizards do not exhibit this behavior. Also, can anyone answer if there are any lizards in New York? I genuinely have no idea. They had some colorful ones.

Arachnids don't have the same behavioural patterns, so your argument is dumb, really.

Name me lizard species that have this Alpha male social societies and display this behavior.

How is it dumb? Spider-Man isn't a physical spider last I checked, so that argument is invalid. :lol

The nitpick hating, jesus christ. Also, I still don't get how anyone can leave in the middle of movie several times and then make an informed opinion as if they watched it all coherently.

Hell, I don't get people who take a piss in the middle of a movie, period. :p

Well did Peter start attracting tons of spiders everywhere he goes? Its just dumb.

Actually, this was a plot point in one of the comics for a while.

I know what you're saying but this is COMIC BOOK science. Strange animal behavioral patterns should be the least unrealistic thing to get mad about versus the violations of physics, genetics, and biology that the story runs on.

And, arguably, no lizards have ever smelt an alpha male 2000 times bigger than them. So, in a way, there's nothing violated here since that situation has never happened nor could be tested.

Whereas we definitely have tested genetic splicing and it's definitely not like the movies.

Thinking about it, I have two small problems with the movie:

1.
So he doesn't make the webbing himself? Conveniently, Oscorp makes super webbing that Peter can buy whole sale. I'm sure they'll never figure out that they keep getting orders from a small house in the Bronx, close to where some vigilante is using their product to fight crime.

2.
Peter's hunt for his uncle's killer went nowhere. They didn't close that plot line, only showing the police sketch of the killer in the ending montage.

1. Peter likely snuck in again, especially now that he has Spiderpowers. Or Gwen snuck him some refills. Or he used his dad's notes to create his own. Very minor plot point, really.

2. That was deliberate. Did you notice that THIS time around,
Peter's Uncle's death
was a snowball effect caused by him getting petty revenge on Flash? This Spiderman's sense of responsibility has come from realizing that revenge isn't the act of a hero. A very big deal is made out of how beating up the random thugs is still an illegal and vigilante act, as would beating up the guy if he ever caught him. So he keeps the picture as a reminder of how the desire for revenge cost him deeply.

I saw it last night in the first showing in the city, I thought it was great. I am not sure if it's better than spiderman 2 but I definitely feel it's better than spiderman 1 and 3.

I want to rewatch it though it was way better than I thought.

It sounds like that's based in part to what Zeb Wells did in his Amazing Spider-man "Brand New Day" issues.

The alpha-male/dominant lizard thing has been around forever.. ASM issue #6;

I had an episode of the 60's Spider-Man on VHS where the Lizard gathers a bunch of reptiles in the subway station to defeat Spider-Man

Midnight numbers.

TASM made 7.5 million in midnights

1.5 million from IMAX

For reference spider man 3 made 10 million in midnights

I expect myself to like this more than Spider-Man 2 and 3. I can't even remember the trilogy that much, I'm only thinking about Amazing.

I liked it more than the first three, but then I never put any of the originals on a very high pedestal.

It isn't perfect, but I do like that it had a more emotional side than the others. I also think they got Spider-Man's character right for the first time. Peter himself was certainly more likable. I do wish there was a bit more "Spidey bein' Spidey" moments, but I can't say I'm disappointed. What was there was good.

The biggest drawback for me was the special effects on The Lizard. He looked like complete diarrhea. Yeah, I'm one of those "Oh god, I can tell this is CG, this looks so fake" people, so your mileage may vary. Ah well, at least the action was nice.

Overall, I'd give it a 7.5/10. Not Avengers or Iron Man quality, but I'd put it above all the other Spider-Man films made so far, personally.

I'm going to see it again Friday. This will be the first Spider-Man film I liked enough to see twice in theaters. So...yay.

I loved the way Spidey fought in this movie.
Using his web to slide and zip around. Also using it to lunge himself at his enemy.
good stuff.

I also liked the one scene where
The lizard was in his lab coat.

My favorite scene is probably the car thief scene.

All in all, I think Garfield did a great job.

After sleeping on it...yeah I definitely loved this. In fact I would say I enjoyed it way more than Avengers due to the heart that this movie had. Avengers succeeded without having much of an emotional core, it didn't really need one anyway, but its just one reason why I preferred Spidey more. Also this had better pacing despite both movies being nearly as long.

Well put

You would think they would have, like...maybe a page or a TOS or something people can refer to so they know what is or isn't bannable.

You would think that.
