Stupid Questions |OT| of questions that don't deserve their own threads

I recently started playing guitar, i saw some threads and ended using the justinguitar page

So as my first song to learn i chosed Wonderwall by Oasis

The question is: Why is so quoted or even hated?

I have seen some quotes "never bring a guitar to a party" or "The first song you should learn is wonderwall LOL"

I mean, i chosed it because i liked it, but i dont get the party stuff people cites

LOL it really is just *the* song that douchebags with acoustic guitars play all the time at parties, forcing everyone to listen and pretend its amazing year after year. Its a good song but extremely overplayed by everyone who owns a guitar.

Ohh, i see. Maybe i should go back to learning chords first, instead on focusing on the song everybody knows

Often times, in movies with bow and arrow combat, you often see people break off the shaft after a hit. Is there a purpose to this beyond the inconvenience of having a long stick of wood sticking out of your body? :)
I think it probably first happened because the fake arrows would shake around too much while filming. It's also 'macho' to snap it off, usually causing more pain, just so it's not sticking out impeding you.

As you say having it stick out wound be inconvenient anyway, in real life doing such a thing is generally going to be a bad idea, depending on the type of arrow. You don't want to wiggle it around and you don't want to tear the would further by trying to snap it off one handed. Some arrow heads will be a pain to remove the way they came in and would be better suited to being pushed out the other side, in which case you want the shaft to be long enough to stick out both ends. Some arrows might be near a vain and pulling them out will cause it to tear and you bleed out. It would always be best to leave it and seek medical attention asap.Iif you do want to shorten it, you'd want to cut it with pilers or at worse have one hand firmly on it while you snap it using your other hand

tl:dr
Yes, to make them look tougher in films.

Once my laptop battery hits 72% charge when plugged in it stops recharging, and then says it's at 100%. Unplugging my computer shows in actuality the thing's at 72%. Up until this week it's always gone to 100% full charge. My laptop's about 2 years old, and I'm running Windows 7. Is this just a sign of slowly dying battery or is it something OS related? I've tried 2 separate chargers so I know it's not that.

Which sort of notebook? If it's a Mac I'm pretty sure there's something you can do to 'reset' the battery. I'm also pretty sure there's a battery health app or widget for them. No idea with other brands.

There are two reasons you might do that. The first is to stop further damage and tearing by catching it on things. The second (if there is an exit point for the head) is to remove the arrow without doing further damage by pulling the fletching or head through the wound. It would hurt less to snap it off that to catch it on something.

I was doing a drawing on Photoshop but my niece accidentally titled the image. How do I straighten it? Also, how do I reduce the canvas size so that it could fit the image (in other words, have it be equal to the size of the image)? I have the image out of whack and a massive white background behind it that's also at awkward angle.

Could you not just undo it? Edit > Undo or ctrl + z (Or control + alt + z if you need to go back more steps)

If not
Edit > Transform > Free transform then rotate it to normal

For you second part:
You can use the Crop tool (Looks like a box where someone has drawn the sides a bit too long so are overlapping and has a line diagonally across the middle). Click and drag a box over the image and then move the corners and it should snap onto the image, then press enter or click the tick on the top bar

I see, thanks; I did everything you said. However, I ended up erasing the background, keeping the background copy and now it's still tilted. I've been trying to make duplicate layers to see if that'll fix it, but it hasn't done anything. Is there any way I could transform it without having to lock anything in?

Could you screenshot the whole window please? Then I can give more accurate help =]

It's an Acer (I know, I know). I did a reboot and oddly it's now charging to 100% again. Whatever.

I have a bunch of footage I took..about 10GB of clips on my hard drive cam...how can I compress without losing too much quality? Also need to tone some sound out.. especially the driving bits. I also don't have the software.

Is GirlGAF actually GirlGAF or is it like 10 women and 50 dudes asking questions about women?

Since we're so reliant on oils/fossil fuels can't we just develop some sort of procedure to replicate the process using human bones/remains?

Create jobs, fuel our economy while using land that would be wasted as cemeteries.

Moral issues aside would it be possible?

There aren't enough biomass from human remains to make it a worthwhile effort. It would be far better to use a more homogeneous and prevalent material e.g. wood.

A few months ago I saw someone on GAF saying they were into a newish music genre thats kind of sci-fi with beats (ie Vangelis/Blade Runner music or the Portlandia theme song). Does anyone know what the name of that genre is or have other examples of that type of music?

Have a look at the op.

I think the preference is to not think of it as the place where girls hang out, but where women on gaf can express themselves as mature adults and discuss feminine topics. As such it is an open door policy for either sex.

There is a separate: man gaf ask girl gaf question thread.

What's this from?

That's video of what happened to my home city after I binged on Taco Bell one night.

My new laptop has a build in lithium-ion battery.

from what Ive read its best to keep it from drainig the battery to 0/ loading to 100%.
But it is harmful to the battery to use my laptop while it charging?

Is it ok to ask a clothing place like Men's Wearhouse to take measurements for me, if I don't intend to buy anything?

I hope not. I keep mine plugged up most of the time.

I wouldn't think so. For all they know, their attention to detail will sway you buy something from them.

I give people banking advice all the time without a payoff in hopes they remember me later.

Uh... sounds like plenty to me. What would you think of as a more appropriate amount?

Extremely generous of you.

Well if I remember correctly, I overheard them saying at one point that it would cost them $200 per person to invite people. I myself had to drop $5k on some legal matters the week before so I couldn't afford more. I thought maybe I should of given more. I mean at their engagement party, I didn't get then anything since I was so damn busy so I thought I should give a little more. Well anyways at least from you guys, I gave enough and I'm happy with that :-), thank you.

Apologies for the late response. I intentionally moved the image so that the checkered background can be seen:
No problem. The canvas has rotated, not the image (Technically =P) press R on your keyboard (This is the Rotate View Tool) and click and drag in the light grey area just above the chequered background. This will allow you to rotate the canvas back to normal.

Okay, this has been bothering me for a while now, what's the difference between RTTP and LTTP?

Ok GAF i give up, help me out:

https://vimeo.com/43859305 (some mild NSFW images in the video)

I need the name of the songs here, the one that starts at 03:39 and the one that starts at 12:11.
The names in the description didn't really help finding the individual songs! :\

I like how the fire is traveling at two different speeds; it's much, much faster from the far view, traveling miles in seconds. Meanwhile, from the ground it takes awhile to consume just one block.
For some reason I was thinking it had to do with it radiating from the sky down.

Is there a website or some way I can find all the websites I've registered with via my email account? As in, you enter your email address and a list of sites associated with that email address shows up. I'm thinking it might be about time to abandon my one email account.

The first one is Pink Floyd, but I don't know the song. The second one, I just typed the lyrics into Google and got this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azxvEuxmjzY

Edit: Obscured by Clouds is the Pink Floyd one.

Isn't it possible to pin tabs in the Safari browser?

It sucks, cause Chrome takes up too much CPU so my MacBook Air starts being very noisy.

I've got a Lenovo X220i. The "c" key has broke off. I've still got the key itself but the hinge below has broke in two. Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement? I've seen replacement hinges but no hinge :(

Alright, thanks.

If I use a microphone like this one (Amazon link), will I get better sound in my recorded videos?
Compared to what exactly? You should check out reviews and different microphones but microphones like these generally have a better sound quality than whatever headset or webcam you're using now. If you're going to use it for commentating on videos then it would be a good investment but I'd prefer a headset with mic while gaming though. Most, if not all, well known commentators on Youtube use these types of microphones.

You just have to press R or click on the rotate view tool (it's in the sub menu of the hand tool).
While rotating use shift so you get even numbers (i.e 45° 90°...)

The checkered background is no problem at all. If it troubles you just create a new layer and do a white rectangle the size of the canvas or just use the "fill" option on this new layer (in edit->Fill or use the shortcut shift+F5)

Compared to just talking into the camera I'm using for recordings.

It will be for commentating on my videos. Like reviews, guides etc on YouTube.

What the hell is higgs boson?
A newly discovered particle field that gives other particles mass. Basically it's the thing that holds the universe together.
Best analogy I've heard is imagine you enter a room full of people. You walk right through those people because you are, quite frankly, a nobody and the rest of the room doesn't even notice you. You, like some particles, are able to pass right through the room. Now a celebrity enters the room. Suddenly the rest of the room flocks to the celebrity. The celebrity is the Higgs Boson and the rest of the room is the particles that it effects (by giving them their mass).

Edit: Oh yeah, a question: I'm planning to get a PS2, and I want a way to view the PS2 video on my computer. It's one of those all-in-one things, so what should I do? Get a composite-to-USB connector? Will that work?
