K-ON END

Probably for the best that it's over. The college stuff was vastly inferior to everything before it, although the high school chapters were still decent.

E - The Next Generation Of Personal Computer 1-7

I swore I'd never touch another persocom personification series after Chobits, but this wasn't too bad. Nothing remarkable, but at least it didn't make me want to projectile vomit.

i liked that doflamingo reveal. i liked the recycling of that character, as he's always been an enigma, and very much a loose cannon. even after becoming a dog of the government, his piracy activities continued on and reaches far and deep. he's gotta be the most dangerous warlord, even if you count blackbeard.

as for the series, it only makes sense that the encounters from here on out, will include some of the most powerful and infamous. we've already dealt with the top of the marine and pirate food chains with the admirals and whitebeard and the emperors. plus i really don't want to see a series that's been running for 15 years, only reaching the halfway point, extend further unnecessarily. it's happened already, with characters introduced outside the original draft, and with each arc getting more and more detailed and verbose.

It suffered from the same major issues that the worst arc, Skypeia suffered, that is a lack of focus and tension to make most of its content pretty dull.
Skypeia is my favorite arc actually. I felt the tension for nearly 50 chapters. The conclusion to that arc has one of the most memorable images I've ever seen.

I guess I just dig stories with a lot of threads.

I accidentally started rereading 20th Century Boys, but feel like I might want to read another manga by Naoki Urasawa instead, it's about time I investigate other works of his.

Top 3 manga by him for a guy who absolutely loved 20th Century Boys?

Yamada and the 7 Witches

And the casualness of certain things continues to be refreshing. After watching the recent Sket Dance arc where Himeko does everything in her power to prevent Bossun from taking a bath with the other girls while he's in her body, just seeing it happen here in a single page and then not even mentioned again is awesome.

Yamada and the Seven Witches

Where is my second chapter damn it, I wanna see what they will talk about.

Time to read this

Takamagahara 01

It's a battle manga, for those of you who are interested.

The main character is a schoolboy in Japan called Yamato Yamada (first last). He has four brothers, and together they're the "Yamada Brothers Five", all of which are retardedly strong at any physical activity (they do pushups on top of each other...). The oldest brother, Musashi, is very proud of how strong their family is. All of them (minus Yamato) aim to become the stronger.

Yamato, however, wants to draw manga. His stated goals are that he wants to win the Tezuka Award, and to reach the ceiling of Jump. Unfortunately, his manga is not fit for consumption ("It's shit" and "Normal people will die from reading your manga"). And he happens to be a lot better at physical activities than at drawing manga.

The concept behind the story is related to Solune's post above. Supposedly, there are descendants of the gods living amongst humans, and these descendants have sleeping potential. Superhuman abilities, magic, or bizarre powers. Guess who awakens his power in chapter one?

It's high school business thus far, so you get your dark uniforms and obvious dangerous guys (with pompadours!). Coincidentally on this July 4th, the big cheeses are called "Yankees"...The chapter is about standard for a battle manga start, with some decent humor; art is pretty sweet. Right now though, the cast is made of sausages.

Best part of the chapter is a two page spread of a FIST BUMP.
Thanks for your impressions! The main character sounds somewhat like Harima. Looking forward to starting it.
Nisekoi will eventually fall though, because romcoms can only last so long without getting boring.
That may be true but Nisekoi seems to be pretty consistent right now more so than Kano or Kawashita anyways. Things are still "interesting" since it seems the other girls part of the promised seven keep popping up.

Read Pluto, it's his best work. Monster is also good so read that as well.

How does this happen?

But yeah, Pluto and Monster are both great but Pluto is way shorter. I liked both about equally.

I'd suggest Happy!, but only because I'd like it if more people raged with me.

R+V 2

This is the poster child of a mangaka writing in a genre that they can't write in. The only good thing about this manga is waiting for inner Moka to gracefully come out. But right now she is all dere without the tsun so this shit is just bad.

One Piece:

You're not understanding my complaint, especially with the bolded. The "saving grace" for Fishman Island for most readers was Oda tossing in Big Mom and more Shichibukai/Emperor involvement into the story vs just being more creative with the villains and telling the story better. Oda shouldn't have to rely on Emperor/Shichibukai/etc reveals in every arc to make the stories exciting or to beef up villains (he didn't have to in the past). Ever since Garp got involved in the story and dropped that huge story dump on us, Oda has been adding more involvement from Admirals/Emperors/etc... because it's gotten positive feedback from fans. It has less to do with "It's the second half of the grand line and Luffy and co are stronger now" and more to do with "One Piece sales multiply every time the word Emperor, Admiral, Shichibukai, or any combination of the word is mentioned".

It's a "less obvious/annoying" version of Bleach and the Soul Society crew. But then again the one time Kubo took them out of the story the manga ratings dropped and he had to make a "this is the final arc" announcement, so it's probably better Oda keeps doing what he's doing.

Thing is Fishman Island started off fine, it was a unique place with odd people and some familiar faces, but, then it gets bogged down with racism and Hody doing nothing but gloating only to be beat down. People wanted to see what was going on in the New World which had been hyped for years. People were excited for Big Mam because it meant the plot was picking up and we could finally see some real fights. This current arc is good because it features new characters alongside old, an ideal situation and one that can tie up loose ends instead of waiting years for them to be seen again.

One Piece:

It has everything to do with it being the second half along with other factors.
We know about the Emperors for years the same thing for Doflamingo , Dragon etc etc and up to a short while ago they play no part in the manga .
Why should Oda not use characters he made for that very reason .
We are going to see new characters but the OP world has been set up for ages now and it time for us to see more and more of the big boy since the SH are getting up there .
Also Oda always had one of the 3 main groups in his story for years now.

Do you want the series to go on forever? Doflamingo has been a known character for like 15+ years and hasn't done anything. Oda has to start getting these major figures out of the way if he's ever going to end this thing.

It's the New World. It makes complete sense that everything in interconnected through either the Yonkou or a major figure like Doflamingo. We're not in East Blue or the Grand Line anymore where some random dude can go around acting tough. Law himself said it best earlier this arc: You either ally with the Yonkou or you fight against them in the New World.

And I think most people were fine with this arc before the current reveal. People just hated on the Fishman Island arc because it was shit with almost no redeeming qualities. The Big Mom reveal got so much praise because it was the only saving grace of that failure of an arc.

This arc, on the other hand, has been fine and Caesar's a strong enough villain to be the 'Big Bad' for the arc. People are just more hyped now, because, like I said, we've been waiting to see Doflamingo do something for years.

I see upandaway was the only person who got what I was saying so I'm going to quote him again:

So we're sort of at the point where an arc in One Piece means it's an arc in the cohesive world of One Piece, and not a standalone thing. I could be wrong and we'll suddenly get a new Enel or something, but I don't want you to hope for this too much and maybe be disappointed every arc.

Read the bolded. Think Skypiea and Water 7...in other words Emperor/Shichibukai/Admiral free stories. These arcs never dominated the story of One Piece they were "sprinkled" in and were all well done. Regardless it's about balance and moderation. Of course I expect Oda to have the Straw Hats deal with Akainu/Blackbeard/Vegapunk, etc... but not in every single arc and in increasingly heavy doses. So far in this arc we've had Law who is both a Supernova and a Shichibukai so he covers two groups, Law mentioning wanting to take down an Emperor with Luffy, Vegapunk and Ceasar Clown, Akainu and Aokiji having a fight, and now DoFlamingo. I won't be surprised when we find out the Samurai has a connection to Mihawk. Meanwhile out of all the original bad guys/creations, the only one that seems to be worth anything is the slime monster. I guess the Dragon, Yeti Cool Brothers, Chimeras, and Giants should have applied for Shichibukai membership cards.

[Naruto]
Why was it important for Tobi to turn Sasuke against Konoha and have him (somewhat) on his side? And he goaded him to get the eternal mangekyou.
Why was it important for Kabuto to have Konoha discover the location of Akatsuki's hideout, right before the war?
Why was it a good idea for Tobi to have Kisame lose on purpose instead of defeating Bee so that he could then infiltrate the alliance in order to eventually... get to Bee?
Why was it a good idea for Tobi to galvanize his enemies into forming an alliance to protect Bee and Naruto when he clearly could sneak on Naruto whenever he pleased before that (see what happened at the inn, for example)?

Why assume Kishimoto knows what he's doing?

Anyone else drop this when they learned the ending, got tired of the plot spinning, and Yamada-kun came out?

Cuz...yea.

I don't know of the ending but I dropped it cause I lost interest and Yamada is much better.

I will probably get back to finishing it when the translations end

naruto
all my predictions are coming true. Sasuke's on his road to redemption and shit. Tobi gonna start wrecking shit, sasuke saves kages and is forgiven, jugo and suigetsu have hardons for sasuke. Oro might give sasuke another powerup. If sasuke and naruto fight it's gonna be a small skirmish or like a sparring match after naruto beconmes hokage and sasuke is choief of police or some shit.

Since the SH enter the grand line most of the arcs were base around the Emperor/Shichibukai/Marines
Admiral had something to do with the water 7 arc since one put everything motion in the first place.
Most of the big arcs in the first half had something to do with the 3 main groups well Marines and Shichibuka most of the time expect Skypiea.
CC ,Vergo, Slim look like the big bad guys for this arc all 3 are new characters did you really expect people you list to give the SH any trouble what so ever .
The Admiral fight you talking about happen 2 years ago so it really don't mean much to this arc .
Oda has characters that were around for years he has to do something with them before he could not because of certain factors things have change .
Also this is the first arc of the NW later on they might go to a island that has no connection to the 3 main groups like Skypiea but it make no sense for that to happen right away .

I think its pretty good, though I guess its titled restoration here, from viz, makes me interested in Kenshin, with its characters and the fightss (well two so far), but the next chapter is in like august :(

Worth reading even if we know Kenshin by heart? I fear it's an easy way out for the author after his multiple failed attempts at new series

Edit : my bad apparently Embalming is still going on.

Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Iliya 22

I was worried for Bazzett there, but she's got very impressive abilities, and managed to pull through... still though, this villain (Gilgamesh, I assume), how ARE they going to beat him? They don't want to fight again because they can't win, so how else can you do it...

Also, this series could be nearing and end, couldn't it. That'd be somewhat too bad, it's good. We'll have to see though.

Yamada 16

So she goes on a field trip, and then spends the whole time studying? Oh come on... I mean, studying's important, but that seems to be overdoing it. I will say, though, that Yamada's unhappy reaction to the bath scene's one that I bet a lot of manga/anime characters would disagree with... though given what they'd made him do all day, it is understandable, I guess...

Yandere Kanojo 14.1-14.5

Why is that other team so scared of this one that they'd go to such lengths? Were they that good, or something? Seems a bit extreme. Also, huh, that's a girl? But that's the joke, obviously. A funny chapter as usual. :)

K-On end

So the two endings had each of the two groups (college and then highschool) do a final concert, the end. There's no actual ending, or anything to say what happens to them, just final concert and end. Meh, whatever... it's not like I exactly had any hopes for an actual ending from THIS franchise! Still though, both endings were kind of lame. That's expected, of course, but true.

The college stuff was fine, I thought... why must everything be high school? Or do you mean because of the lengths it went to to avoid obvious stuff that'd happen in real colleges? Still, I thought that part was as okay as anything in the series... none of the franchise is great, certainly.

I guess there's still a possibility for some extra stuff in the collected volumes...

Uta no Prince 01-04
The characters are still fun. The setting is still nice. Just as not as fun since there's no music or pretty boys singing and dancing.

Anyone else drop this when they learned the ending, got tired of the plot spinning, and Yamada-kun came out?

Haha I remember when Infinite Justice posted spoilers and I was like... Wow that's fucken bad. But I dropped it before cause my waifu lost, as usual.

It's funny because it was good, then the new student council happened and then it just went downhill from there.

All your dreading about Yankee-kun. I'll keep going regardless!

Unknown
So an one shot that might someday become a real manga. I like it. The art looks nice, the action is pretty good as well. I would like the whole powers and stuff be explained a little more clearly but considering the constraint of finishing everything up within those pages, it really wasn't bad. Pretty cool to see the heroes consider themselves bad guys, so it's a nice hook.

Argh, Aoi Hana is published by Manga Erotics F? Fuck, no wonder why it only has 44 chapters in 8 years. Is it near its endgame? I wanna pick it up but I don't want to read a manga that will end after 10 years.

Those endings are more tragic and disturbing then anything. The ending of Yankee-kun is just pure stupid so I'd say it is worse.
Now I'm curious but I guess I'll restrain myself from looking it up, not feeling like ragequitting near completion.
