How quickly before release date should Amazon orders be dispatched and payment taken?

Got Theatrythm on pre-order (I never usually pre-order anything) which releases on Friday, I assume they'll take the money and dispatch tomorrow?

Depends on what shipping method you chose. I also pre-ordered Theatrhythm, and chose first class. It said it would arrive on release day, but I'm hoping it will arrive tomorrow, as I hear Amazon are very good for getting stuff to you early.

Amazon always charge you as soon as they dispatch the item.

I don't think I've ever had amazon get something to me on release date, to the point where they're the last place I'd use to pre-order something I had to have day one.

On a good day that may be the case, but I have never had anything arrive from Amazon before the official release date.

If you'd ordered from ShopTo you could have had it yesterday.

Yep, first class for me too. Delivery estimate is Saturday 7th for me but hoping they get it to me on Friday.

And your bank details emailed to Bangkok.

(Joking. Sort of. Is ShopTo safe to use nowadays?)

Hello,

Thank you for ordering with us at zavvi, order number 21474140.

I am sorry to advise that we had a limited amount of stock available of Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 at the promotional price which has since sold out.

We can confirm that payment has not been taken and you are free to re-order at the current price should you wish.

Thanks for your understanding, should you have any further questions please contact us through your online account message centre or on 0844 264 0702 and we will be happy to help you. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Many Thanks,

zavvi

Just use paypal if you're not happy giving them your card details. They're still the best service by far I've ever had from any online games store.

Wow, that's bullshit. Was it advertised as a special limited price or have they pulled that from nowhere?

Not at all. It just showed up as a normal price reduction like with nearly all the other reductions they do. Haven't even seen one that mentions such a thing as what they are describing.
Was very quick to order it as well, but like always, you never know what you'll get into with Zavvi. :-/

I have gotten used to delayed shipments and long wait times, but this one did get under my skin.

It's basically them saying, sorry to have promised you something we had no intention on delivering on. So if you still want it, buy it at full price instead.

I nearly buy everything from Amazon as of late, so this will only make future decisions easier.

Now that I think about it, Thehut had it at the same price at the same time, but I went with Zavvi since I didn't have any Thehut vouchers left...

It's certainly not the first time they've pulled that dick move with promotional prices. They're an awful company, but their prices mean people will keep coming back no matter how terrible the service is.

I'm guilty of that as well. Although things like this are slowly but surely pushing me to a point where I will refuse to buy anything from them again.

Not there just yet, but it's happened before with other companies for me in the past.

Reminds me of BookDepository's emails of "We've canceled your order because we are out of stock". When I ended up checking their website they had stock but the price of the book had increased 2-3€, stopped using them because of that. (This was 4 years ago, they might've changed)

I stopped using Zavvi once I decided to save less than 5 quid and end up waiting 1 month for my copy of Starcraft 2. So not worth the £5 I saved…

Assassin's Creed: Revelations PC - Ottoman Edition - £9.99 at Play.com

Link

Tempted by it myself but I want to see if it appears in the Steam sale first.
The latest AC games are always £10 in the Summer sales, and that is for the base game, no DLC.

It is extremely likely this is a better deal than what you'll get on Steam.

I stopped using them because I got a Kindle.

They did this to me once. Stuff like that is why I haven't ordered from them in ages and probably won't do again.

I understand why people do, they have good prices, but these days places often either match them or are only a couple of quid more expensive, I don't mind paying that to avoid the worst customer service I've experienced online.

Hey all. Long time reader of this thread and picked up several deals along the way, thought I'd say thanks to everybody now that I can finally post!

On to business however... I saw a copy of El Shaddai (360, new) for £7 in my local HMV yesterday. Anybody know if this has dropped to the £5 mark online anywhere yet?

Seriously? It's seven pounds, just buy the bloody thing.

Availability: Usually dispatched within a month

hmmm, good luck with that.

Honestly I don't know how they got this. This game is one of the rarest PAL X360 games out there with used copies going for 70+ pounds on Ebay (last time I checked). New ones are considered a true rarity.

Good luck to all who purchase this. Let us know if they ever ship it. :)

I'd say they don't have it and never will.

Is there any way to get sent by mail some PSN Cards with discount ? Never found any, and would gladly buy a 50€ French card for some PSP-love on my Vita.

How did you pay? They usually only charge once they've shipped.
I haven't actually placed an order yet, I just needed clarification as the website made it sound like that was the case.

We charge your credit or debit card for the majority of items once your item is leaving our warehouse. Payment is usually taken within 48 hours of point of dispatch.

However, please note that orders placed for electronics and computing items are charged at the point of placing the order not at point of dispatch as with other products.

Urgh. Fuck PC World and Currys. Strong flashbacks of Woolworths.

Cases but not games. Games but no cases.

Got Zelda and Layton for ~£10 though.
