The Amazing Spider-Man |OT|

I love the post credits argument happening right now.

You know, I actually enjoy watching the credits for a lot of movies, regardless if I know there is some post credit scene or not. I don't mind just relaxing while everyone waddles out of the theater and listening to pieces from the film's score. If the credits are like something out of WallE, then even better.

The fact is, I paid money to sit down and watch a movie and that run time includes the credits. Screw anyone that says I should leave before then.

Anyway, to stay on topic I saw Spiderman and liked it a lot, but put me on the side that likes the Raimi ones much more. I actually ended up marathoning all three of the originals yesterday after having seen TAS. I still think they're all enjoyable, three included. Third act of that one drops the ball a bit, but the movie is still a good time, I don't care what anyone thinks of it. Spidey 2 is probably still my favorite comic book movie ever.

I also think that Green Goblin will be too soon....though many felt like the origin was also too soon and they went with it anyways so who knows.
Next movie, Id like to see Norman and Harry. Start setting them up in the universe.

I have no idea who the villain could be though. I dont think we will see Rhino or Scorpion because they are in the ASM videogame. Maybe Venom done right? Kingpin? Shocker?
Vulture feels like a good choice to me .

I think it largely depends on the theaters - both the size and how closely together they schedule showings.

It's cool that you never let it bother you, but it has definitely become a pretty common complaint from theater workers. To me, it's just not worth it to cause any extra inconvenience to a minimum-wage theater employee for some dumb scene that adds very little to the film.
Agreed. No employee at my theater ever complained, but that's only a small sample of theater employees.

My point was to assuage people from feeling "guilty" of remaining for any scenes during or after the credits. If that's what you want to do, there are far worse ways to irk the ushers.

Doesn't Fox have the rights for Kingpin from the Daredevil movie?

Mysterio will never be a major villain in a Spider-Man movie. Rhino has a better chance.
Maybe not in its classic form, but it's possible they twist things up enough to make it work. I really just want ASM2 to open up like this, though;

Shocker was a running gag in Ult. SM and it was hilarious. Probably wouldn't work too well in a movie but whatever. :lol

Villain wise though, Vulture seems the most likely, but I would love for Webb to give a shot at Chameleon in an emotional way like some comic issues. It could be a different kind of villain, more tragic/human.

That's the point. Peter was pursuing him out of revenge and wasn't out for justice. When he let go of the vendetta of beating up random thugs and messing up police work, that's when he started to understand what a hero meant.

Being a hero means doing what's right, not pursing a personal vendetta.

I knew someone was going to say this. I'm still hazy from last night, but was there a scene where it showed him coming to terms with Ben's death and letting go of his vendetta?

I like Carnage. I actually wrote into the Spider-Man magazine as a kid and asked them to put him in an issue because me and my brother liked him.

I forgot all about Chameleon. He might be a good villain for the next one.

I don't want to see Venom or Carnage in any of the Spider-Man films.

If I was in charge of developing the new trilogy (whatever it will be)

I would probably go,

2. Green Goblin, introduce Kingpin and his influence over the city.
3. Kingpin, Kraven, and Rhino or another sub-villain contracted by the Kingpin.

You speak in lies.

He's 100% correct. Carnage is the posterchild for 90's comics, which were almost universally terrible, and the entirety of the 21st century so far has been spent trying our very best to distance ourselves from it and pretend it never happened.

I loved Carnage when I was like, 13. But back then, I also liked Spawn and Rob Liefeld. I was a moron at 13.

I want one day to make the worst Spider-Man trilogy.

1. Vulture
2. Venom/Carnage
3. Clone Saga

Are you ready for my trilogy of total shit?

The illusion aspect of him disappearing seems to be most linked to Mysterio. I just find it interesting, because in each of the Marvel movies, fans new what was being alluded to. This one isn't so cut and dry.

I think people are looking too deep into the disappearing thing, maybe it was in Connor's mind, or a stylistic choice. I don't think Mysterio would look or sound like that, or really be linked to Connors or Oscorp that much unless they really change it.

So this movie was based on Ultimate Spiderman it seems?

Also I too would love to see a carnage movie

Additionally my friend I went with said it was the Green Goblin (I kept thinking captain stacy would turn into the green goblin lol)

The fans clamored for Venom (along with one of the producers of the Raimi directed pictures) and the end result in Spider-Man 3 was awful.

Spider-Man has a fantastic assortment of rogues in his gallery of villains, neither of which include Venom or Carnage.

I don't want to see Venom or Carnage in any of the Spider-Man films.

I'd also consider using a side villain as an ongoing thread for Peter to have to deal with on top of the primary narrative, such as Electro, Hydro-Man, or Mysterio.

Thankfully you're not in charge. It's too soon for Green Goblin and Rhino have no place in a Spidey movie. In fact, don't have 3 villains in one movie like in Spider-Man 3. I like your idea with Kingpin though, but isn't he licensed to Fox and their DareDevil franchise?

And no, keep Venom and Carnage out of this.

I want Vulture, Chameleon, Mysterio or Kraven for Amazing Spider-Man 2.

I don't think they can use Kingpin, can they? Something with Daredevil and FOX.

Anyway, I would definitely wait til the third movie to do Goblin and the Gwen Stacy business. Gives even more time to build up those characters and would be a great end to a trilogy (not necessarily the end of the series). Plus there would be enough time between that and Spidey 1 for it to feel more fresh.

Thankfully I'm not in charge? You ass.

There is absolutely no issue with using multiple villains in a film, unless there is some sort of emotional attachment to one of them.

In the Spider-Man universe, you don't need to give a shit about Kraven, Rhino, and a majority of The Kingpin. You can spend the time crafting a decent story for Peter while you have people being a pain in the ass to him, which is exactly what the Spider-Man stories have been about for decades.

Seems everyone complained about it being too similar, but it's been so long since I've watched the Spiderman movies that it didn't bother me at all.

The sequels will really have the benefit of taking the series where it's never been. Hopefully they will succeed in that venture.

Venom could work as a two film story. The initial story in the comics is handled well, and it's not until he became popular that it got tired. Basically, Brock and the black suit in the second movie, Venom saved until the third. He doesn't just show up and fight Spider-Man. It needs to be Venom screwing with Peter's life, taking advantage of his spider sense immunity and stuff. That's the most conventional approach. Although, ultimately it might be best to ignore Venom. Who knows.

Bringing in Silvermane or Kingpin with Spider-Man going after criminal organizations, then rolling into a "hunt spider-man" story with Kraven, Shocker, Scorpion, etc. could play better. There're many characters to work, but not many who can work alone.

Hopefully the sequel does Venom similar to how it was in the Ultimate comics. I want a Venom/hoodie Parker going at it in the rain at the high school.
Would also generate a lot of goodwill after SM3 and they can lay groundwork for GG in TASM3.

The only thing interesting about Venom was when Peter had the symbiote.

Fast forward to years later...

I still take back to back showers after I read the Toxin story arc.

I'd be happy if they stayed away from Venom and Osborn completely. Kraven needs to be in one of the inevitable sequels.

Osborn is a lock, that's pretty much set in stone for at least one of these movies. They might do Kraven as a more secondary villain but I severely doubt they would use him as a primary.

Wasn't there an Osborn hologram in the Oscorp lobby? Could be something Mysterio whipped up for his 'boss'. I think he could work for the second movie, and save Goblin for the third.

I'm seeing it again today, but I think it was a rather large bilboard at some point in the movie.

It was holographic though. Jaws 19-esque.

You're not getting Mysterio. There is a reason why Zod is the villain in the upcoming Superman movie despite a bunch of other picks like Brainiac.

It's probably spoiler material, so...

On the bridge he has the choice to continue pursuing the lizard or to help the bystanders in trouble. It's the first glimpse of a Spider Man that's not simply a vigilante with a vendetta that Captain Stacey so aptly described.

Personally I liked it a lot, but I also hated Raimi's Spider Man and hated the way he made the web shooters a special power. I also thought that Macguire was completely miscast. The shots involving building the web shooters in this movie reminded me of Iron Man, particularly when he wasn't simply making his devices work perfectly on a single go.

I also liked that Spider Man was outmatched by his opponent who was bigger, stronger, and tougher. There are few things worse for me in a superhero movie than the "hero" outclassing an opponent in nearly every conceivable way and still almost getting his ass kicked.

Because it has become a big inconvenience for theater staff who need to prep the theater for the next showing. Instead of getting out right away, people stick around for 10 extra minutes, often for films that don't even have post-credits scenes. And that's really annoying for the people who need to clean up before the next set of guests come in.

Plus, they're obnoxious. Why should I have to sit through an interminable list of names to see the end of the film? What's wrong with putting a cliffhanger before the credits?

What about staying just for the credits and hearing amazing music while in the process?

Moonrise Kingdom credits music

In the theater I work at, the ushers hate when people stick around for the end of the credits. They can't clean until everyone has left. As a projectionist, it's annoying when the last movie of the night has stragglers sticking around for a post credits scene. Otherwise I can shut down the movie early.

As a projectionist can you explain why my theater the screen at my theater was so fucking dark. Is it true that theater chances run the lamp/bulb at a low wattage to get more life out of it???

ASM2 will absolutely be Green Goblin.

ASM3 will likely be Venom as they are developing a Venom Spin-off film right now.

yeah, Sony execs probably panicked about the altered origin. Sony's operation seems to be run shoddily when it comes to green lighting scripts.
