The races in GW2 are one of the things that don't really appeal to me. Will any races be added in the near future or not?
No.

Yeaaaah, but have you ever seen mounted underwater combat?
I don't think anyone was searching your post history. The point was there have been several threads about Guild Wars 2, and many of us have been reading these threads quite thoroughly and there have been very few complaints about the UI. The general consensus has been that it is clean, unobtrusive, and functional. There is certainly still room for improvement, and there have been many improvements over the last couple of betas, but I just don't see how it's ugly.
Maybe if you were to post a screenshot that illustrates your point, it might be easier to discuss this.
Why can't I play this game now?!?!?
WAAAA
So, any opinions on the best GW2 forum or news/analysis/speculation site to pass the time?
Please dont say Guru. I went there a few times and honestly felt dumber afterwards

Man I loooove GW but I just can't imagine making it to 30. It feels really dated to me now outside of EotN.
So I know there's new pvp options, but what is their reasoning for no more GvG? Did they explicitly state anything about it or did they just want to move in a new direction?
How do I start War in Kryta?
This dude won't give me the quest, and I meet the requirements listed on the wiki.
guild wars wiki said:If your character has not completed Eye of the North then The Missing Vanguard quest and either The Knowledgeable Asura or Zinn's Task must be completed.
Knowledgeable Asura is a part of the main quest, right? I didn't do that Zinn.
Maybe it's that Missing Vanguard one, then.
Both Missing Vanguard and Knowledgeable Asura are part of the main eotn quest line.
Oh, then I dunno what. Maybe I'll do that Zinn one.
I finished all the campaigns.

I'm probably going to rattle some cages here with this, but whatever, I just have to ask...
Why all the GW1 talk here? Isn't there a GW1 thread for that? I realize what you do in 1 plays into 2 with HoM, and we don't have a ton to talk about being in between BWEs, but surely we can do more than dwell in the past...
My intentions are noble - as someone who joined this community specifically for this thread (and has since found more to do elsewhere as well) and who didn't play GW1, I feel it stifles the conversation a bit for those not in the know.

I'd wear it

That is your next step.

If it didn't have that shitty logo on the back it'd almost be wearable.
That scavenger hunt was annoying. :/

The good news is, you will be in the know when the game launches and all the GW1 players are blinged out with titles and fire swords! My intentions are noble - as someone who joined this community specifically for this thread (and has since found more to do elsewhere as well) and who didn't play GW1, I feel it stifles the conversation a bit for those not in the know.

I joined for pretty much the same reason. Each time there is a GW1 post I read halfway through, realize my folly and die a little inside.
Wonder if we will get any leaks on some beta changes soon? That would give us something to talk about.
Yes, some patch notes for BWE3 would stir things up pretty good here. I think I follow just about every class (with the exception of Ele and Necro), so does everyone else... so even something like Engineer or Thief notes slipping out would spur some discussion.
I'm really hoping melee picks up some tricks for taking out ranged enemies and Guardians get more offensive capabilities and some of their skills changed... like, any skill that makes you stand still to use it... which is... a lot of them... yeah I'll shut up now.
I just hope they improve Guardians' ranged capability a bit more. I played a lot of WvW in BWE1 with a Guardian, and while most of the time I was able to at least contribute, when we were assaulting a gate, or defending a gate from on top of a wall, there was literally nothing I could do. Even if Guardian's Scepter skills weren't so slow and short ranged, they had no verticality, so it was impossible to hit someone above or below you. I'm not sure if this changed in BWE2, but it led to a lot of boring moments where I had to just stand back and wait for my team to do something.
Range is an issue for everyone. I can't hit anything with my Elementalist even when someone is right below me within 1200 range.
And Scepter is the same range as a Warrior's longbow.

This is f'n awesome, I'd totally wear that.
But Warrior has a Rifle to deal with long range. Longbow is a midrange AOE weapon. If anything, Engineers and Thieves are the comparisons you should use with regards to range.
And yes, even ranged classes have issues with height, because vertical distance is included in the distance equation. But if 1200 range attacks have trouble dealing with altitude, its that much more of a problem for 900 range attacks. The problem with Guardian is that his scepter and staff auto attacks travel in a straight line. So even if someone is well within the maximum range of the attack, they still cannot be hit because the attack will simply hit the wall below them (or fly over their head).
Guardians have a couple 1200 range attacks, and most are on long cooldowns, and several 900 range attacks that are impractical for ranged combat. The problem isn't that the Guardian is less capable in ranged combat. The problem is there are situations where every other class can contribute, and Guardian is almost completely incapable of participating, namely keep assault and defense.
Of course my complaints could be completely outdated, and I hope they are.
Oh yeah, gun is longer range than bow.
Because of that Vertical issue, my elementalist has to get up very close. Being a glass cannon compared to a guardian, it really sucks.
- Thief needs a second off-hand weapon (Sword makes the most sense).
- "Gwardian" needs either the Scepter radically changed for more ranged damage, or be given a new weapon (axe? dagger?) that's range-centric.
That is devastatingly disappointing.Thief just needs a new steal mechanic. That's one thing I was completely underwhelmed by in the betas. It was something I was looking forward to and thought it would be an interesting mechanic, but it turned out useless for the most part except for the free shadowstep.
Bought.
