The Netflix Recommendation Thread of Dope Movies

The Fifth Element is one of my all time favorite movies. It's weird that I only discovered many years later how many other people liked it! Bless the internet.

Is The Fifth Element in HD?

EDIT: Just noticed they finally added all of the episodes to Sliders. I think I might start watching that next.

By my count, there are 88 episodes available for streaming. That's the number that they produced, including the god awful Syfy season 5.

That's because they have both the pilot "movie" and the individual pilot episodes, which are the same exact thing, just split up. "The Weaker Sex" and "Last Days" are still missing.

I just discovered The Rum Diary is up on netflix. I kind of want to watch the movie, but I've heard so many things about how it misses the point of the book completely and is basically Fear and Loathing in Puerto Rico. I do want to watch a movie tonight, though. Can anyone here recommend it?

Movie is alright then again the book is the same. I remember reading the book and after I was done felt like nothing happened then I watched the movie felt the same way. It is a decent watch nothing like Fear and Loathing at all.

I had been watching Sliders on and off for a few years now. I thought I could get through every season, but a few episodes into season 5 and I could not take it any longer. The entire show had started to go downhill after season 3 (it was definitely enjoyable watching up till the end of S3). Season 4 was decent, but season 5 was completely unbearable. It was like pulling teeth trying to get through it.

It's politically dead behind the eyes, but it's beautifully shallow and legitimately funny and a great ride through 1960s Puerto Rico. Highly recommended and one of my favourite films of last year.

The devils double is now on netflix, nice addition. Also looks like the fourth season of Breaking Bad is coming up on July 15th.

Just watched Hobo With a Shotgun and Deathrace 2000.

Hobo was alright I guess. Maybe I just don't understand Modern Grindhouse.
Deathrace was corny as hell (Could have sworn I heard cartoon sound-effects when people were getting hit by cars) but it's a load of fun.

When I checked last night, there were still two episodes missing from S1. Have they added any since then?

Awesome if those 2 missing S1 eps are up. Watched last fall and made it halfway through S5 before giving up. S1 and S2 are great. S3 has a few good eps, the first ep and The Guardian but boils into shit with talking flames and the cast change. S4 sees a bit of a recovery at first but goes to crap at the end. Lipschlitz Live I thought was hilarious though. S5 is utter crap. Made it upto the Biker ep and couldn't finish it, garbage as is the whole season up to that point.

Actually, S2 's first ep was great not 3's. The Guardian is the probably the greatest ep of the series. S4 was far better than S3 although the last 5-6 eps are horrible of S4. Great concept done right in S1 and S2 but sucks in 90% of the remaining eps.

Online via PS3 and it won't let me edit posts. Can't even respond without quoting. And that's if the site even loads as scrambled letters appears sometimes and can't reach the forums.

And those 2 eps of Sliders haven't been added.

Just noticed Transformers 3 was added. I dont really understand how Netflix displays new movies to each person, but my "newly added" selections rarely show AAA titles. I found Transformers through a sub menu.

:lol That's because Transformers 3 isnt a AAA movie. You probably could have found it in whatever section it is that has movies like Titanic 2.

I agree its a shit of a movie, but its still a widely known movie. I always get some strange obscure indie flicks, that more often that not is a waste of bandwidth.

I prefer Korean thrillers (this one is Japanese), but Cold Fish was very good. Pretty long runtime, but I was engaged the entire time and definitely recommend it.

Just watched this movie:

http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/The_Bothersome_Man/70075849?trkid=2434768

It's about a guy who somehow finds himself taken (from where?) to an unusual city- clean, modern, too sanitized, full of people with Stepford smiles- to start a new life, where everything is "perfect" and his perfect life is planned out for him. But he finds himself to be practically the only one bothered that the city is devoid of such joys as tastes, smells, colors, music, children, genuine relationships; and behind the fake smiles and cordial attitudes there is a sinister air to the city. A bit 1984, but there are somewhat fantastical elements to the movie that make me wonder if it's a vision of the afterlife. I could be wrong, though. Definitely recommend it. It's Norwegian, so it's subtitled in English.

it's not english dubbed right? I haven't watched Oldboy because of its horrid english dub, seriously Netflix get your shit together and put the original Korean dub.

It is subbed (hard-wired subs so anyone can watch it regardless of device).

I'd totally recommend Oldboy if the streaming version wasn't the atrocious dub. I need to find the person that picked that one over the subbed version and beat them to death with a crowbar.
