Nintendo Downloads - July 2012

No deals right now... :(

Also, am I the only one who is excited about Pokedex 3D Pro? It's a shame that we need to wait 3 months or more for it.

It seems like a lot of money for an app I won't be able to launch when playing the games that use it as a reference. I'd still end up checking Bulbapedia on my laptop all the time.

Can you use the internet browser while playing games?

Mutant Mudds was a fantastic demo

might have to buy it on special

so good but too basic

the concept could've done with more gameplay and puzzles

Are there any good Shoot 'em ups on the the eShop? Even if they might be DSiWare?
I think Metal Torrent is one (DSiWare), and I hear it's pretty good. There's also 3D Classics Xevious and TwinBee, which are both ok imo.

I may be misunderstanding shootemup though. :p

Those are the type of games I've been looking for. Knew of the 3D Classic games but never played them so wasn't sure how good they were. I heard of Metal Torrent but I could never remember the name of it.

fwiw I liked TwinBee more than Xevious, and I never played Metal Torrent.

I'm not much of a shootemup fan though so my opinions are a little negative towards them. :/

I just found out that if you don't quit the eShop app, your Download Later downloads won't start. Good thing all these games download relatively quickly!

Yeah, the 3DS instructs you to go to the home menu first and then close the 3DS to start downloading. Got confused at first too. =p

I think it's awesome. But got damn, that price. Perhaps Nintendo will take a cue from Square Enix's Theatrhythm DLC and make it substantially cheaper in North America (like, neighbourhood $10).
ha ha ha

If Pokedex 3D Pro is more than $10 I'm not getting it. Anything more is borderline outrageous.

I still will though :'(

It's not really that bad when you figure that those Pokédex guide books range between $15-20, and this will have pretty much everything those have plus other cool features.

Of course, Bulbapedia is free, but it's always nice to have something official like this. Besides, Bulbapedia's articles are kind of a mess. This will be much easier to read and use.

I'm most excited about the little Pokémon quizzes. Totally reminds me of the Pokémon Stadium games, lol.

I can't speak for Metal Torrent but if you're choosing between Xevious and Twinbee I'd definitely go Twinbee. They're pretty similar but Twinbee's powerup system is more interesting and it has a weirder/cooler aesthetic going for it. Also if I remember correctly it's a dollar cheaper for some reason

It'll be more of a pain in the ass to use while in-game if you're playing on your 3DS sadly. Good free Pokedex's all around, like Serebii's, Smogon's StratDex.

Love my Platinum Player's Guide (free from Best Buy), but I can't afford to buy a new Pokedex with each version. Will definitely buy Pokedex 3D though, for entertainment value and cool factor, but not for any sort of functional use unless they made it part of the 3DS UI where I could access it while in game.

Why haven't you released Picrosse in the US yet Nintendo? Whhhhhhhhhhhy?

:(

Well let's see... Mario's Picross and Picross DS took less than a year to localize, Picross 3D took just about a year, Mario's Picross 2 and Mario's Super Picross never released in NA, though I'm pretty sure Europe got Mario's Super Picross on Wii VC for a Hanabi Festival while NA never got it at all.

The only reason I'm even holding out hope for an NA release of Picross-e at this point is because it was announced for Europe (though it seems to have missed its Q2 target.)

Wait wait wait, $10 isn't outrageous? I understand in Japan they can get away with it, but that's incredibly overpriced.

Damn it. It can't be much longer, right? Nintendo hasn't released an eShop game since Ketzal's Corridors, I believe. They're due for another game release by now. >:(

Maybe they are making a game that includes all the content from both e and e2?
lol :(

Considering that it's full 3D models of every single Pokemon known about thus far with complete information on every one of them, $10 doesn't seem like a bad price to me. More than that though is pushing it.

Seeing Picrosse came out mid December of last year in Japan there is a good chance we'll see it before the end of the year. I want them to announce it soon; I'm impatient! They should announce Picross 3DS too.

You'll take your Mario's Picross and you'll like it!

Does it usually take this long to localize a Picross game?

This is not a Nintendo Picross game. It doesn't matter how long the DS games took to come over.

This is Jupiter's game. It wasn't published by Nintendo in Japan.

This is totally awesome. I just hope there will be about 1000 questions. That would be so great...

Well, for me Pokédex 3D Pro is a must, but its price is surely outrageous...But it will possibly be "upgradeable", so it will be the base of every new Pokédex. So, when Generation VI will begin, they won't release a newer Pokédex version, but they will upgrade this one. Also, Pokédex 3D had only about 150 Pokémon. This will have over 700. So, it's logical if it costs 10€. If it's more expensive, it will be somewhat overpriced... Imo, there will be a deal when B2W2 will be released. Probably discounts to Pokémon Dream Radar and 3D Pro.
Nah, this won't happen :(

It's understandable as modeling every single Pokemon must have been a not-insignificant endeavour. I wish they had implemented some sort of Stadium-like functionality in the app, that would have made it a lot more compelling for me at $10-15.

I'm probably going to get it anyway, but I will hate myself for it

Pokedex Pro is Nintendo's way of Kickstarting the move from sprites to 3D models for their next 3DS Pokemon games.

DSiWare has been great to me. Moreover, my 3ds got stolen today, so DSiWare will be all I have until the new XL arrives.

Damn, I'm sorry.

You can get your stuff transferred to the new unit if you file a police report and have the stolen unit's serial number at hand.

Higher res sprites might be come unfeasible by this point, what with animating and soon to be even more pokemon and formes, they're going to be redone for the next generation.

We have the 3D Models right now. And we might just be going that way too.

Damn you Sakura Samurai for being only 5 bucks. I couldn't put off buying you any longer.
And also, watching the TwinBee video made me wish wish wish for a 3d classics type version of Bump 'n Jump.

It's useless without the interesting bits of Bulbapedia trivia, such as "Pikachu is the only first generation Electric type Pokemon whose Pokedex number's digital root is 7!"

Thank you. Crisis was averted, though. Turned out the console was never stolen, technically, and it's back in my hands now.

Metal Torrent is good, but very short. There's a game called 99 Bullets that looks pretty good, but I haven't tried it.

99Bullets (and 99Seconds from the same people) is very fun, but it's less traditional. The goal is to shoot without missing for the best score possible, because passing a level is based on your score. Each difficulty increases the scores you need to pass a level (and potentially enemy speed...), and so far I've been unsuccessful at the second (of three) difficulty level.

99Seconds is about avoiding everything, no shooting, and controlling time to help you do so. Not really a shoot em up. But great as well.

The Legend of Zelda is sooooooooooooooooooooo good. I haven't played it since '87. It's amazing how much I remember, and how much I have forgotten. :)

I remember the day I beat LoZ. Such a fun game, I cheated and used a map/guide online to plot out where I would go next, it felt like a real journey. I loved collecting all the heart containers and plowing through the first couple of dungeons with the white sword. The non-linearity is what I love about it so much.

GJ Nintendo!

So... Just frames?

You just have to use photos taken with the regular camera app.

I think.

Sparkle Snapshots has been out in Japan for a while right? Is this technically the first Nintendo "game" to feature paid dlc?

I wonder if there is a good source for top scoring 3DS/DSi download titles only. Ususally I use metacritics, but you can't modify the list view in a way only download titles are shown.
