If I download the client now, will I have to redownload the entire thing again at launch?
No, you can just patch the beta client to the full client.
Edit - And I'm too slow.

Just wondering...I pre-ordered the game during greenmangaming's promotion, and I don't really want to try the beta out. Am I missing something by doing so? As in, titles, pets, etc.
This video has an example of the vista feature in the Asura zone at around the five minute mark. I am not quite sure what the narrator is saying (it's in German) but the video shows the player reaching a vista point.

The client'll carry over to launch, but they said to put it on your desktop and not in program files. Will I have to keep it on my desktop forever or can I move it somewhere more convenient?

She says that the vista's have been added this build. Won't be easy to reach and add another factor for exploration minded gamers.
They're shown on the map but still not easy to find or get to. You need them for the map completetion of the area and rewards are given for discovering them.
Anyone?
Edit: Beaten by Thanasis
The issue with Program Files was that Windows Vista and Windows 7 are very stubborn about permissions for that directory. They have said this will be fixed for the full release.
However, in the meantime you can move the file to pretty much anywhere else in your hard drive that isn't Program Files. There is no need to keep it on the desktop. Just make sure to move the .exe and the .dat file to the same location, or it will try to redownload the game.
I just uploaded selected screenshots from both BWE and one of the stress tests. There's two galleries, a regular one from BWE1:

Then there's this one, with screenshots from the first stress test and BWE2 taken with the ultra-high definition feature. Each screenshot is 6720x4200!

Some screenshots really show off the amazing scenery.![]()
Nope, there's nothing special you earn from being in the Beta, and nothing carries over. But damn, why don't you want to play in the Beta.
Good stuff. Vistas are exactly as I imagined, and a great way to show off the beautiful scenery. What's more, I see they can be replayed as many times as one wants.![]()
Does anyone know how many character slots we'll have at default?
Only because I want to play a more complete product with all my friends who didn't pre-order the game. For me, half the fun is with my friends. Thanks for the answer!
They should have narration describing each vista and it's back story.

.... okay, I kinda want this too. Maybe not for vistas, but some kind of "Lore Point" where you walk over it and it tells you a little snippet of info from Guild wars history. For example, places that tie heavily into GW1 lore.

That's a good idea, but I also won't have my new computer during the final beta weekend.Well, your character wont transfer over.
Personally, id simply try out the beta just to determine what class you want to play as. It would be a bit of a drag if you found out you didnt like the class that you first picked and had to re-roll. you'd either have to make up the levels on your own, or make your friends play some lowbie zone so that you can catch up
Just pick a starter zone that you and your friends dont plan on playing.
I want that as well. they should shamelessly steal Diablo 3s lore system. Having it read to you while you are playing is so much better than going through codec entries
Has a Gaf server been picked yet? I don't have any friends playing so I'll be mostly with you folks.
We're on Henge of Denravi in Beta but I imagine we'll probably change at release.

I imagine it'd be east coast right?
Is that a feature of your card or the GW2 engine?
Gates of Madness for launch. Henge of Denravi for NA and Jade Sea for EU during Beta.

There aren't East Coast/West Coast Servers. All US Servers are located in Texas.
What was the reason for the change anyways? The only real difference seems to be that Gates of Madness is a much cooler name considering that both are medium pop servers
Part of it was that it starts with a "G". It was always the plan to play the first "G" server, and if there wasn't one available "H", then "I", etc. Also, even when we first decided on a server, it was always specifically stated it was only for beta, and our post-release server would be decided closer to release, largely because it was suspected more servers would be added as populations ramped up (though I doubt anyone suspected they would double them). Henge of Denravi was never meant to be a permanent home. But there was still talk of remaining on Henge only because it avoided people accidentally going on the wrong server because they didn't follow the thread closely enough.
So ultimately, I think the decision came down to familiar name vs. cool name.
Why not wait for post-BWE3 to see what happens with other communities, and if Gates become Low or Full ? MMO-wise longterm, we'd want High IMO.Gates of Madness for launch. Henge of Denravi for NA and Jade Sea for EU during Beta.

Would we though? I played some WoW on high pop servers and there were times where it was just miserable. Queues up the ass and zones just full to bursting.
Huh, really? That's pretty impressive then. I'm way up in Canada and I encountered no issues at all with lag on Denravi.

As far as we know we will be the biggest guild actively rolling on GoM from the start. We don't want to purposely go to a server where 10 massive guilds are gonna roll cause we'll never get into WvW.
can anyone point me towards how endgame armor sets will look?

Does anyone know if accounts are bound to region right now? I managed to get my friend in the UK a US key on the site but EU keys are out.
WvW got queues and might be full at first, but as with most MMOs, people quit after a few and you'd want to still have people in PVP.Would we though? I played some WoW on high pop servers and there were times where it was just miserable. Queues up the ass and zones just full to bursting.
