So, I have a question for the people who actually like these films.

As far as I understand it, most people like these movies despite Bale's performance and Batman's portrayal. I haven't seen a single person think Bale's acting was great; just "good enough". His acting beyond the first half of begins is incredibly wooden, the batman voice is a bad joke, and he's written without any sort of nuance or subtlety. Hell, the entire second film nearly has him as a background character, with all the focus being put on Joker and Harvey.

Do you guys generally feel the same and like the movies in spite of that, or do you disagree?
I'm a biased Bale fan, so I like him pretty much everywhere (holy shit everything about Terminator Salvation sucked), including in these movies.

However, I've never been interested in Batman as a character. Most of my familiarity with him is through the cartoons, and the villains were always more interesting. Batman's an absolutist, and while that's admirable in some ways, his entertainment value is inherently limited.

My most vivid early theater memory was seeing The Matrix back in '99. Now it was a R-rated film, but my dad was one of those "cool" dads who let me see R-rated films, as long as there wasn't a lot of sex and language involved. I had been grown on a healthy diet of Star Wars and Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, so it's safe to say this movie was right up my alley and blew my little mind into tiny pieces all over the ground.

I like him a lot, in both roles. The voice needs toned from the second movie, for sure. My problems with Batman in TDK had nothing to do with his acting (outside of the voice sometimes).

This was my first movie experience, at the age of 10. I wasn't even mad.

I think he underplayed the role in TDK (which made sense considering the state his Batman was in: single-minded and focused), but he was great in BB.

Hopefully TDKR brings the spotlight back on him. It looks like he has more to do.

I can't even imagine watching that nowadays. I remember the sequel being amazing because of all the classic Scooby Doo villains.

Sequel blew my kid-brain up. Loved it way more than the first one. The way I see it is the first film was a parody of the cartoon, and the second one was more of a homage.

First theatrical experience period?

Weird duo, I know, but I think it was one of either Licence To Kill or All Dogs Go To Heaven, lolz

The first movie I ever remember seeing in theatres was Tim Burton's Batman (1989) when I was five years old.

I begged my mother to take me, and god bless her, she did. At age 5, Jack Nicholson scared the living heck out of me. I remember being traumatised for months by the Joker.

But from that trauma my great love of Batman was born.

Reminds me of when Heath tossed that wine glass like an idiot.

I think Bale was just ripping him off, Heath obviously did it by accident and Nolan missed it but Bale was like lol gonna throw it on some guy's head and see if anyone noticed and I did and I laughed

All of BatGAF should wear some form of Batman avatar for the rest of the summer. Doesn't matter if its B89, Batman Begins, TAS, whatever. WE ARE THE 99%.

The earliest movie I can remember seeing in theaters was the Star Wars re-release with my dad. But that was in '97, I must have been to the movies before that (though growing up I was definitely more of a VHS kid than a movie theater kid).

Listening to
Rise
and reading this thread brings tears to my eyes.

Hans in his Empire interview today talked about the score and let one thing out

The final track isn't even on the soundtrack, it's "The End" which is an iTunes exclusive lol

Classic Scooby Doo Villains in live action? I freaked as a kid. Miner 49er, Creeper, Captain Cutler, etc. I FREAKED.

but I think my first movie theater experience was the original Raimi Spider-man. Don't quote me on that.
Wow, I guess I need to watch Scooby Doo 2, lol.

Also, I remember Spider-Man being the only time people were sold tickets and sat on the stairs to watch it. The rush to see that was so big it basically broke the theater.
