Bill: "I'm not putting too much stock in polls right now, but American women are supporting the President, and that's kind of surprising."
Dennis: "Yeah, well young single women always have bad taste in men, don't they?"
ZING
And John Sununu destroying Andrea Mitchell on outsourcing.

So...any joke about women is misogynistic?
"lol women aren't smart enough to vote Republican" is pretty condescending whether or not it's a joke.
Whatever. Dennis Miller isn't worth caring about.

So why did Romney fly in 20 people to his NAACP speech?
oooh it was a joooke, sorry Dennis...
as for Romney's speech, the media, you mean like Morning Joe? splooging all over the same facts you mentioned, or Joe Kern on CNBC saying what a great speech it was and what guts it shows. Like he's walking through a bad neighborhood or smth....
Also saying "Obamacare" and not something else was definitely a dog whistle.
Romney could've used a jive translator

Yeah, he should've done that condescending pandering and dropped his g's like the Clinton's.
I was specifically speaking to the choices the networks made when airing clips of the speech. There were a number of applause lines, which was stunning to me. I figured the best he could hope for is stone cold silence throughout.
This is the most batshit insane interpretation of the speech I've read so far:

Misogyny sure is hilarious!
The first paragraph seems pretty spot on based on what I've seen. Not sure about the rage mongering thing, but the rest seems to be pretty dead on based on what Romney has shown.
"Until yesterday, I thought of Mitt Romney as a spineless, disingenuous, and supercilious but more or less decently intentioned person who at least wasnt the race-mongering pyromaniac that some other Republican candidates of my lifetime have been. Then he gave his speech to the NAACP, and now I think of him as a spineless, disingenuous, supercilious, race-mongering pyromaniac who is very poorly intentioned indeed, and woe to us if this man sets foot in the White House as anything but a tourist."

I refuse to believe anyone with a shred of intelligence could watch that speech and call say it was race baiting flame throwing. That's ludicrous.
As far as Obamacare, two weeks ago we were all in agreement that it's a good work for Obama to embrace!
Misogyny?Misogyny sure is hilarious!

It's not really Zing unless you shake your head and say it in a faux-sarcastic nasally tone. Wasn't his schtick already old in the 80s?
I mean, it (the booing) was the best, most interesting part of the event. If it plays into Mitt's stereotype, expect it to get airtime, if not, well it's gonna be a nauseating four months for you.
applause? Kind of astounding.
Misogyny?
Over this joke?
Really?
Is that really different than "LOL, old people got confused and voted for Bush" jokes circa 2000?
Also please, let's not blow our outrage load over terrible insults like "having bad taste in men".
He was one of the best if not the best anchor for SNL, he pratically invented it. But yeah, I mean he sucks now, so it's best to move on.
Norm McDonald was my favorite anchor. Dude was hardcore.
I'm sure Romney knew there was a good chance he would get a negative response by trotting out the Obamacare line. I refuse to believe he's that daft.
Miller was funny at a time, specifically his HBO show.Dennis Miller stopped being funny the moment he became Dennis Miller.
You mean the most biased and supportive for Obama part?I mean, it (the booing) was the best, most interesting part of the event.
Well yeah, but Dennis Miller hasn't been funny in quite a while.I wouldn't personally have called it that, but it's certainly the exact same ballpark as "lol women drivers." i.e., not funny.
Miller was funny at a time, specifically his HBO show.
Monday Night Football killed his career.

"I don't change my speech based on the audience."
But why the sudden honesty kick? Prolly the one time he should've fibbed or stayed home, instead he used it as an indirect red meat missle.
Freedom of speech does not grant you the right to say the Dennis Miller was great on MNF.He was awesome on MNF.
And here's your problemPlus, I doubt he's ever been more financially successful than he is now. Tons of money in radio syndication and books.
I think the joke is that they're single, i.e. hasn't find a ma... ugh, am I really explaining Dennis Miller jokes?Let me guess--Dennis and Bill's category of "women with bad taste in men" has a big overlap with the subset "women who won't sleep with me because of my money."
Freedom of speech does not grant you the right to say the Dennis Miller was great on MNF.
Lines has to be drawn.
Democracy has to defend itself.
And here's your problem
He went from a comedian with conservative leanings, to a professional conservative comedian.
Tony Kornheiser or Dennis Miller, you must choose!

Good point, agreed.Your second point is almost there. He didn't just become a professional conservative comedian, he became a professional Republican comedian. I can respect someone sticking to principals, Miller is just a political hack.
Mitt Romney has found a new spin for the resounding chorus of boos he triggered at the NAACP on Wednesday. At a fundraiser in Montana that night, Romney boasted about the boos to a very different crowd, saying: If they want more stuff from the government, tell them to go vote for the other guymore free stuff. But dont forget nothing is really free.
Given Romneys fraught history with the organizationMother Jones reported yesterday on his antagonistic relationship with the Boston NAACP while governorinvoking the welfare queen stereotype against NAACP members who support Obamacare is tone deaf, if not a deliberate attempt to stoke conservative resentment against so-called government freeloaders.
The free stuff comment is a mantra Romney uses often. Just last month, in a speech to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), Romney scoffed, Everybody likes free stuff, but there is no free stuff.
The Rachel Maddow Blog cites several more examples:
A few months ago, for example, the GOP presidential hopeful responded to questions about contraception access by saying, If youre looking for free stuff you dont have to pay for, vote for the other guy. Soon after, Romney complained that Obama is trying to buy students political support by offering them free stuff.
There is a pattern to this. If youre a woman who wants access to preventive care you might not otherwise be able to afford, Romney sees you as wanting free stuff. If youre a young student who cant afford higher-ed tuition, Romney assumes you expect free stuff.
And if youre an African American supporter of the NAACP who wants your family to have access to affordable health care, Romney suspects youre just looking for free stuff.
Of course, no one will receive free health insurance under Obamacare; the law makes health care more affordable for working and middle class families through tax credits. But everyone pays into the system to ensure that the government does not have to pick up the tab of the uninsured.
Also, a Massachusetts financial disclosure form Romney filed in 2003 states that he still owned 100 percent of Bain Capital in 2002. And Romney’s state financial disclosure forms indicate he earned at least $100,000 as a Bain “executive” in 2001 and 2002, separate from investment earnings.
