I know they're attack ads, but of they put that on TV it's gotta have some basis right?

Not in America.

We don't have any rules about using the news or commercial advertisements to spread deliberate lies.

That's one of the things that prevented News Corp from creating Fox News Canada last year. There is a law in place that bans news from deliberately lying. They tried to lobby to get the law removed (they failed

Actually it's likely totally true and he probably wasn't involved in the day to day operations but that's meaningless. Most Americans have no idea what the life of an executive involves so if there are documents that say he was running the company for those three years then that's what he should have stated.

Totally right. But what we DO know is that ... those earnings while he was only "technically" CEO? Totally deserved!

And I don't buy this new, amusing and genteel Manos (and likeable? what's this?). We all know there's something crazy about to spill out!

Bill: "I'm not putting too much stock in polls right now, but American women are supporting the President, and that's kind of surprising."
Dennis: "Yeah, well young single women always have bad taste in men, don't they?"

ZING

I don't get this. So old, married women have better taste in men? The hell?

Fortune article:

Docs prove Romney didn't manage Bain funds

...

All of this could prove problematic for the Obama campaign, which has spent they day crowing over the Globe story (going so far as to hold a media call about it).

"When Mitt Romney ran for governor and now as he's running for president, he consistently claimed he could not be blamed for bankruptcies and layoffs from Bain investments after February 1999 because he departed for the Olympics," said Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter, according to the Globe. "Now, we know that he wasn't telling the truth."

But the contemporaneous Bain documents show that Romney was indeed telling the truth about no longer having operational input at Bain -- which, one should note, is different from no longer having legal or financial ties to the firm.

...

After being informed of the Bain Capital documents, Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt emailed over the following statement:
"Mitt Romney either misled the American people or misrepresented himself to the SEC. Romney has said he had no authority or responsibility for managing Bain since 1999, but that has been proven false. Regardless of whether he was on the management committee for this particular deal, he remained President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board and he was legally responsible for every investment and decision made by Bain."

Give you a lil' secret about liberals: we're just as greedy as anybody else. We just have the decency to feel bad about it.

Only on message boards. In real life, greedy liberals are only shamed into donating and philanthropy if they are really, really wealthy (not poor like Joe Biden).

Pew Poll: Public Approval Of ‘Obamacare’ Above Water

More Americans approve than disapprove of the Affordable Care Act, a new poll from Pew Research Center shows.

The poll, released Thursday, shows that 47 percent of respondents approve of the legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2010, while 43 percent disapprove.

The trend lines in overall support for the ACA are converging since the SCOTUS ruling.

Worst case scenario for Republicans is the bill actually gets fully implemented, which will cement support for it, and with it the principle of (near) universal coverage.

This could easily be turned into "Romney took money for a job he says he didn't even do at the expense of people losing their jobs"

Which is honestly what it should be turned into. Let him say that he wasn't actually doing work at that time, its apparently the truth and it still reflects badly on him

Wild Card. :) Truthfully I enjoy arguing both sides (you should see me on hunting and gun boards...which I do enjoy posting on, if I go into the general politics section sometimes*) and in the end I'm actually fairly liberal, but I believe it's important to be able to handle either side of an issue and advocate for the devil (granted I wasn't willing to go full crazy like SolidWarrior in the Syria thread). It's just as I get older, I like keeping my paycheck more and more, since it's my money needed to fun programs now so I get grouchy. Foreign Policy is legit Scoop Jackson, best way to describe it.

I do despise the Cult of Paul and it's disciples though and that's the honest truth.

Give you a lil' secret about liberals: we're just as greedy as anybody else. We just have the decency to feel bad about it.

You can't do both, remember Thank You For Smoking? You can't take the money and then call the TVs and call the source of the money a dirty son of bitch.

I demand free money. That's why I'm voting for the other guy.

Makes sense to me, the problem is he gives it to too many people, the other guy gives money, but doesn't dilute value.

*Stupidity pisses me off greatly, fuck he's not from Kenya or a Muslim, there are so many legit issues with Obama and you guys stick to that shit and fuck stop using different Marxist systems interchangeable, they're quite different...still shit..but different. The far left often annoys me and makes me more conservative and then that far right pushes me back again and then repeat.

Nothing's really free.

Only if you have to pay for it in the end! Reminds me of that quote about Roy Cohn's life goal, to wind up with no money, and owing the IRS a ton of money. lol

I thought government jobs don't count as real jobs?

No they're very real otherwise how could you claim that the powerful unions are sodomizing America while brainwashing America's kids to read the Quran (well in regards to teachers at least), to prepare Comrade Obama's Peoples Republic Caliphate of Socialist America.

That doesn't change the fact that he was documented to be the “sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and president” of Bain through 2002. He was still getting paid by them whether or not he was active in his position there. This is really reaching.

Exactly. You can't have the title and accept the paycheck and claim to not work there.

Also it gels perfectly with the Obama ad saying that Romney got rich while Bain shut down companies. In fact this is even worse, because Romney got paid off the backs of other people's misery while not even technically "working" for the company.

I looking forward to Romney using this as his defense.
You know how sometimes you go into work and you don't get much done...

EXCLUSIVE: Romney Invested Millions in Chinese Firm That Profited on US Outsourcing

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/07/bain-capital-mitt-romney-outsourcing-china-global-tech
Eh, I'm going to need a better source first and besides the firm did it not him, that and outsourcing is a natural side effect of global free trade everyone does it to some extent.

For three years. Damn, I need that kind of job.

I'm guessing you looked at the MotherJones link and drew that conclusion, though they helped break the current developments. The article links to the SEC filings, on which their story is based.

Jesus. The Romney campaign is a mess. All they can do is react, react, react. I never thought I'd see such an amateur hour performance from a modern GOP presidential campaign. Before Obama, this is the kind of stuff you'd expect from the Dems.

LOL

guys, go to this website http://www.factcheck.org/ and look at the front page.

It's pretty much a cheerleader for Romney campaign. Oh and guess what, they're saying that Boston Globe's report and CNN's confirmation about Romney not leaving Bain in 1999 are "false". Look at how they're stretching to give credibility to GOP talking point:
Q: Is the new health care law “the biggest tax increase in history”?

A: In raw dollars, perhaps. But several tax increases just since 1968 were larger as percentages of the economy, or in inflation-adjusted dollars.
Perhaps? Perhaps their assertions are wrong.

kinda feel sorry for romney after he loses, the rage of the tea party, conservatives, anti obama people, establishment etc

his politcal career is finished after november, poor guy wont be allowed at single gop event.

all he will be known for is losing against first black prez and being a one term governor no one liked:-/

Man, if Romney doesn't release several consecutive years of tax returns, his chances just went from slim to ZERO. He can't possibly give Obama that much ammo.

It's be hilarious if this news breaking leads him to pick some fucking off the wall candidate just to try and bury the news.

Dennis Miller!

i think there are 1 of 2 things Romney will do, pick the safest dullest person to augment his dullness, or pick a batty off the wall whack job which will immediately turn this into 2008 redux... with an even less competent top of the ticket
