It's an amazing visual/audio experience. Big ass screen, crystal clear image. I pity anyone who doesn't get to see this movie in IMAX.

Why is IMAX so good?

Go to a real one.

Spider-man 2 was even goofier and comic-y than ASM and I thought SM2 had way more emotional value than any other comic book adaptation. So clearly we disagree there about the tone big time. For me it's not about the tone but about the writing and character development.

There was zero reason for me to care about Rachel, whereas a character like Ben was great, played wonderfully by Sheen, and left an impact on the story IMO. The tone or how comic like it is means zilch to me in the face of good writing. And TDK had excellent writing, her death scene was great, but her actual character gave me nothing to go on emotionally. I don't know if it was Maggie or the script or what, but I just did not care.

I'd be surprised if there was a single person who had an emotional reaction to Rachel's death. Personally though, I got more out of Rachel's death than I did from Ben's, if only for the shock value. Her getting blown up in mid-sentence was one of the "holy shit" moments of the movie for me.

Had Katie stayed, I would have gotten upset by it.

So cruel.

Rachel's death, wasn't really emotional for her. It was more the effect on Harvey and Bruce, that I cared about.

So I was sitting down today and I was thinking how huge these batman films are. There's so much anticipation and its prob going to take loads at the box office. Is this because of the quality of the source material, the quality of the director/actors, or both?

When Begins came out I had to beg people to come see it with me opening night. Eventually I gave up and had to go by myself (they then joined me a week later for my second viewing) but with TDK and now TDKR people are foaming at the mouth.

Is this because the Batman characters are so great or is it because Nolan is a genius?

What im getting at is...if Nolan had made say Daredevil or Wolverine or The Flash would the films be as big?
Is it down to his amazing talent or the source material that he's working with?

I dont even like Batman much as a character, I actually think he kind of sucks, but I'm so hyped for these Nolan Batman films. Im trying to imagine if I'd be as pumped if Nolan was making a Wolverine film or an X-Men film....would it be the same or does the Batman universe/characters just lend themselves to good movies?

Oh okay. Theaters listed on the initial list are US/Canada only so I guess the ones here might not be worth it.

I missed the outside of the states part. I'm not sure, try calling the theater directly and ask or google a bit more. I'd probably talk to a manager though possibly, one of the regular staffers would probably not understand the question.

Bit of both.

Obviously Batman's universe doesn't necessarily guarantee good stories or films.
I know it doesn't but its def more 'grounded' than a lot of other comic characters and I wonder if that makes it easier to make films that are more 'serious' and respected?
