It means the cut Nolan hands to the studio is the one we see when it comes out in theaters. Sometimes producers and the studio begin editing that cut if they feel it's not the movie they wanted. This is what happened with Marc Webb and Spider-Man.

Batman is consistently violent and cruel, excited by his own sadism towards criminals, musing over the injuries he has inflicted. His abuse extends even towards innocents: he verbally and physically abuses Dick Grayson in an attempt to prevent him from grieving over his parents' deaths, even slapping the boy in the face. While fighting thugs in the presence of Black Canary, he throws a Molotov cocktail that engulfs several of them with flames. At the Batcave, he withholds food from Grayson and suggests that the boy catch rats and eat them if he is hungry.

Still think my single biggest suspension-of-disbelief-shattering moment in TDK is when Joker sets off the bomb and escapes jail. Somehow the bomb kills and/or incapacitates EVERYONE in the MCU aside from the Joker. Many Gaffers have tried to fanwank away reasons for this, but they are pure rubbish. Come the fuck on, sons.
