The Netflix Recommendation Thread of Dope Movies

I saw Immortals in theaters when it came out. It's not really the type of movie I would typically go out of my way to see (friend convinced me to go), but I actually enjoyed it. Awesome cinematography and great action. The plot may not be the greatest, but the overall presentation made up for it imo.

Have you seen Wrath of the Titans? I just got it on Blu-ray today and I'm going to watch it this weekend but do you think they do a better job with the Titans?

I have not seen Wrath of the Titans. I would imagine they would HAVE to do a better job with the Titans though without even seeing it.

What blew me away was simply how violent and gory Immortals was. Holy crap at the final battle!

I really wasn't expecting it at that level, heightened more so the fact the scene framing was clean, with few rapid cut away, the anti-thesis of most Western action sequences, just pure brutality in it's fully glory.

Maybe i'm just not in the mood for a disappointing movie tonight, but I started both The Rum Diary and Immortal and bailed part way through on both of them. Neither was able to hold my interest. Oh well...

LOVED the BBC's Sherlock series, but hated how it ended in a cliffhanger.

Any news of Netflix getting more episodes? The series was fantastic, amazing acting and top notch script. I was really really impressed, makes RDJ's Sherlock look a joke.

Jim Henson's The Storyteller is on there now, they have some Greek mythology episodes. I loved the series as a kid and the couple episodes i saw last year after buying the dvds held up pretty well.

Eh, the second season of The Storyteller (the Greek stories season) was a big step down from the first season both in budget and quality.

I don't think there has been any news, but I assume they will put of the new season sometime. The second season is also good, so you have something to look forward to.

I hated it. Just was very blah for me. The interpretation of mythology ... especially the Titans ... just ehhhhhhhhhhhh.
The Titans are in this movie? I take it they're not the giants of Greek mythology we all know and love.

I might watch this. I liked 300 and I like God of War, which from what little I've seen seems to be a cross between.

Today is my last day for Amazon Prime and I can't afford another year, so I might just finish up my Star Trek: Voyager marathon.

Yea, they'll get season 2 eventually. That also ends in a cliffhanger by the way, but a really great one. Again.

The titans look human.

Started this as I was drifting off to sleep and ended up finishing it. Imagine a really dark Groundhog Day and this is it. A bit predictable but still enjoyable.

Anyone know if there's a graph or something that lists everything available on instant streaming between Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon?

So looks like relatives from out of town coming over tonight, anybody can recommend me a good flick to watch? Preferably action or martial arts.

I started Immortals today and stopped about halfway. Pretty meh from what I saw.

Watched Anatomy of Hell the other day with a friend. Worth a watch. Family friendly!

I recomend everyone check out the documentary Pulling John. If you enjoyed King of Kong it is a simular story of two guys who are aiming to beat the man who has been unbeaten in armwrestling for 20 years.

Trailer

Pulling John is the universal story of a champion, who after 25 years of success is now burdened with the inevitable transformation of aging. John Brzenk, the legendary armwrestler, who works as an airline mechanic by day must decide whether to leave the sport he was raised on or wait to be defeated by 2 up and coming titans. Voevoda from Russia, Bagent from West Virginia and Yoshi from Tokyo are the colorful characters who have been raised on the legend of John Brzenk. These men define themselves by not becoming champions but by defeating the legend that is known as Brzenk.

I watched Ned Kelly this weekend. I thought it was really good.

I also watched Take Me Home Tonight. It surprised me. I'm not a fan of Topher Grace but, he did a good job in it.

And, yeah, Breaking Bad Season 4. Finally.

with the baffling lack of space operas currently on tv, I decided to go back and started watching Star Trek TNG. So far I enjoyed the first episode (was pretty long) looking forward to the rest.

Also is there an actor with a more commanding voice than Patrick Stewart? Holy shit.
