Just watched TDK again as well. Jesus, it's still such a good movie. Despite my preference towards BB, you can't deny that Nolan really does deliver on the spectacle and the intensity that this film needs. Sometimes it might move at a bit too brisk of a pace, but I can forgive that because of all the things the movie does right.

In about 7 hours, it will be exactly one week before I sit in the theaters and watch the (hopefully) magnificent conclusion to this amazing series, and I could not be more excited about it (ask me that again the night before I go :P).

It's been quite a ride.

edit: wow, just read the last couple of pages here. Lots of nitpicking going on, I might stay away from this thread for a couple of days even after having seen the movie. I don't want GAF ruining scenes with nitpicking stuff that I haven't picked up on :P

You're kidding me, right? You can take any fucking Schwarzie or Stallone movie from the 80s and find a similar shot with many people running from a menace. You're telling me this is visually interesting storytelling? Come on, dude.

I'm talking more about what's being implied in the spot piece. The key is his face and how the shot is focused on the background. It's quite genius.

I am still one of them. I would've much preferred her to have the short hair. Just seems to fit the character better.

Long loose hair and heels are the only problems I have with her appearance. Both impractical and unlikely for a combat/stealth orientated character, and frankly I'm a little surprised that Nolan approved them for her costume design, given how most of his characters have had practical costumes so far. It's not even that it's long, the hair, just that it's loose and easily grabbed during a fight.

Still, I expect she'll be a cool character with strong acting, so I'll look past it.

What defines kill on screen? Because im sure he kills lots of people in that football thing from the trailers.
Like murders someone. Joker kills a lot of people directly, not just via bombs. Seems Bane is more handson.

What's this in reference to? I was gonna buy BB on blu-ray tomorrow.
Was watching it. It's nowhere near as crisp as TDK. Apparently because it was an original HD DVD and they just threw it on Bluray when the format died.

Would not recommend it if you have 1080p. You'll be like wtf happened

After watching BB for the first time in about three years last week, I watched TDK tonight (also for the first time in about three years). I knew that I liked BB more, but I think I like it a lot more now. TDK was awesome in the theatre, but it feels too much like a sequel upon repeated viewings, whereas BB never gets old to me.

BB is like a 9.5/10, TDK an 8/10.

Finally caught up with this thread. Like a dozen pages where people joke around as if TDK isn't one of the best films ever, snooze.

An 8/10 for a blockbuster comic book superhero film four years after its release is nothing to sneeze at, though.

You could nit pick the hell out of both films til they're 7/10 generously, but why fun suck? Enjoy the glory, people, fuck.

Seems like some people on this forum never smile, you know?

Watch it again.

(The Dark Knight)

Good advice, better than I remembered. The last time I watched it was on either my iPod or iPhone and I was more distracted on that occasion probably. Thought more deeply about the themes (partially due to this thread) and really enjoyed considering them, while the Joker+Two Face's performances were quite intriguing. Such a different movie than Batman Begins though. Plus, the blu-ray really highlights this movie's great production value.

How did they film this scene?

It looks so real.

Goddamn was Heath talented..

What you guys will never admit is that BB and TDK are equally great. I can't wait until TDKR comes out on Bluray so that I can watch all 3 back to back.

That's exactly why I can't compare the two. I love them both equally for different reasons.
Who am I kidding? I love The Dark Knight so much more.

Anybody else geeked up that we are getting a legit, damn near 100% original Batman story from Nolan here? The former two films have been heavily influenced by the comics in one way or another, but this one is almost entirely his creations. The reviews saying this is the best story yet have got me hyped.

Also, in that regards, Nolan's endings are almost universally outstanding. And this film is the ending of trilogy. Think about it people.

This shit is gonna be pure uncut dope.

It's also sad to think it's the last Nolan Bat film. But I guess it has to end somewhere, hopefully on top!

If i go to the lincoln sq theatre on sunday night and wait there till the batman premiere on monday(16th) will I be close enough to the red carpet to touch anne hathaway

I'd say the first hour of BB is pure Nolan, apart from the parents getting killed. Bruce's fear of bats, his training with Ra's, becoming batman (designing the suit, acquiring the technology).

But yes, those reasons you stated are also very much part of the reason why I'm pumped for this. I literally have no idea how all of this is going to unfold.

A lot of stuff from Batman Begins seemed to me to be a distillation of a lot of different Batman stories from the comics. A lot of that seemed to be taken from The Man Who Falls and Year One, albeit changed up somewhat

What I liked about BB was the more Batman I read, the better the movie gets. Its pretty crazy
