So hyped to see Bale, Anne, and Tom.
In some ways The Dark Knight represents the last hurrah of the Bush administration

Even their years in office are similar! It's like poetry.
Not on a first name basis with Bale yet?
Where the fuck did this TDK/Bush thing come from? This isn't the first time I've heard it, and, forgive me for being dim, I don't really see the connection.
The movie deals with terrorism, so naturally people try to graft their political views on it, sometimes a bit forcefully. Often to everyone's annoyance.

I enjoyed the Avengers, but I thought the same exact thing. What profound thematic insight did The Avengers provide? That teamwork is power?
Oh god at dbag Faraci's last line....
"The Avengers arent just the heroes we deserve, theyre the heroes we need right now"
LOL
The film paints a very obvious moral question with Bat using a tech that Freeman's character calls wrong. It's destroyed at the end as a way to show putting ones trust in someone deserves rewards. I can see where someone would draw the parallels. Though to suggest it endorses Bush is strange. You can draw parallels in batman begins with Sodom and Gomorrah too.Where the fuck did this TDK/Bush thing come from? I agree with this. I think Nolan is simply interested in exploring what Batman's actions might mean in a world like ours - one that has ethics and political implications to consider.Personally, I think people are just reading way too into it. I think Nolan's even said before that the movie doesn't have any intentional political subtext.
Don't... don't read the Hollywood Reporter review. Just don't do it. It's positive. All you need to know. Too many spoilers (though I had suspected a few of them, a couple of them were new to me).

I usually see the TDK/Bush thing when conservatives are trying to praise it as a 'conservative' film. That shows that things like torture, surveillance, etc can be used to effectively combat and stop terrorism.
I also see it when Liberals are making the opposite argument. That the film is actually a Bush critique. Stuff like how the torture scenes never reveal and useful information, etc.

(Plus I find it hard to imagine that a Democratic senator would cameo in a film that's supposedly praising Bush.)

It's funny, cause TDK doesn't take either a left or right wing stance on the issue. It simply portrays the real fear and lengths a real city might go to in the event of a terrorist attack.

Based on the reviews I've read about some political/social elements in TDKR, I think we are in for a bit of deja vu with people writing articles about it and overanalyzing it.

From what I hear, McCarthy goes scorched earth in his review in terms of spoilers.
Ebert has his work cut out for him.
Some reviewers have a personal vendetta. Avengers was the underdog nobody expected to be good, and it's the sort of film you can ironically enjoy for being what it is. My bet is that he enjoys to hate the TDK trilogy more than he loves to love Avengers. It's a smokescreen for hating on fanboys.
Does nobody see the warning in the thread title that says spoiler = ban?
We're safe here guys. Just don't click on every review link you see.

I got spoiled by an asshole on youtube, suffice to say it isLast, and certainly not least, is. To say anything specific about his role is to give away integral parts of the movie. Suffice to say, he is by far the best supporting character of any of the three Nolan Batman films, eclipsing that of the venerable Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth.fellow Inception-alumnus Joseph Gordon-Levitt

So basically avoid all reviews because none of them are actually professionals about spoilers?
I'd take it this is something nobody should highlight?Good Lord.![]()

My DARK KNIGHT RISES review isn't finished. Tomorrow maybe. The movie is pretty silly, entertaining, thematically hollow. Bond-esque.

Very interested in discussing the ending when the movie is released. AVENGERS remains best superhero movie of the year.
I think that the people who get spoiled will see the movie in a different way (but good) than the others. Can be interesting to explore the most important thing that Nolan improve: emotion.
I watched the tv spots.
The hair on my arms stood up.
