You may search Eurobricks and YouTube though - I know people have motorized the Supercar, Unimog, and MOCs before.

I did notice that people had motorised the Supercar. Instead of buying a lot of PF items separately, I was hoping there would be one set that contained most of that I needed.

@mrklaw - Thanks for the information. My NXT 2.0 had servo motors, so I had assumed some normal Technic sets had the servos as well. I will wait for 9398 ans see how that looks.

I'm not sure if it's been discussed, but is there a way to identify which minifigures are which in the Olympic set? I'm in Belfast and wanted to take a swing at getting the set. I know there is the usual feel method (but I suck at that), so I was hoping there may be a dot matrix code that would make it easier.

Nicoga, I feel sorry for your fingers already looking at the pneumatic tubing on the Unimog. Not fun, it certainly was.

I built the Roaring Roadster and Cool Convertible this past week, so my itch has been thoroughly scratched. I now have a nice new shelf with two very swish looking - and matching in scale - Lego cars from 2006 and 2008, respectively.

I actually think I'm done until the B-Wing drops. Do we have an ETA on that yet?

That bad? Haha - thankfully, it'll be a while before I touch it. I need to get to work on my Shin Musha Gundam model for a competition I'm doing on another forum. Unimog will come, though! I needed to get it while I could still utilize my sale coupon at TRU!

Hmmm...need to figure out if it is worth it with a 4-hr drive....I will be going there in a couple of weeks, and will figure out mileage then. :D

You have to have an annual pass to get the savings. Let me know when you're going to be in town, and if I can, I'll meet you and you can use my pass.....

Finished building the Medieval Market Village last night and ugh. It looks cool and I love the minifigs but not having the bags numbered while building was horrible. Think I’ll stick to the new sets from now on.

Just got back from Brickfete in Toronto and uploaded almost 50 photos to Flickr. You can see all of them here. It looks like PalaceBrother and I took a lot of different pictures between the two of us, so there are actually very few duplicates.

Here are a few of my favourites:

I briefly talked to the guy who created this and he told me that it sold for $400 at a private auction the night before.

There were a couple of these "paintings" on display. There was also a Clint Eastwood one and C3PO, but I liked this one the best out of those.

Possibly the most unique and gorgeous models were these steampunk Star Wars ships. Along with this x-wing, I also took pics of steampunk versions of a tie fighter, b-wing and imperial shuttle. I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan and seeing these ships in this style and colour was awesome.

Quite possibly the most impressive display (and most popular judging by how many people were constantly swarming around it) was this arena which looks like this on the outside:

And has a circus going on inside with a sold-out crowd of mini-figures in attendance:

Really, really fun experience overall! It was very crowded though. A lot of people jammed into a relatively small space. It would have been nice to have more of an official presence from TLG as well and maybe some free swag. There was also a surprising lack of vendors. I fully expected to spend a couple of hundred bucks there, but all I came away with was a $13 Ninjago Garmadon figure/spinner which was for my daughter. But despite these disappointments, it was a great way to spend the afternoon with my family and see some amazing LEGO creations. Wonderful event!

I always found it ironic that LEGO is made in Europe (Denmark) but is always out first, and much cheaper, in the US. Is it just the size of the relative markets?

Not a whine by the way, just curious how it works.

There was an article on this at one point...It had something to do with the relative markets and what sells in each respective market. I'll try and find it at some point.

What are those tentacle pieces?

Edit: My Goodness @ that Batcave and the Steampunk Star Wars MOCs. Loooove the Tie Fighter.

Debating between buying Robie House right now or ordering pet shop when I get home. Robie looks neat and I don't have to wait. But pet shop will be the final modular I need. But I have to wait. Urgh. Of course pet shop will be cheaper and have better pieces.

If b Wing and haunted house release in August, I will consider it Legos birthday present to me.

Skipped Robie House. Grabbed Farnsworth and White House instead. My first architecture sets.

For me the White House build has one annoying part in it where you need to make the same thing about 10-15 times. Since I'm a perfectionist when it comes to having plates perfectly line up, that part was torture for me.

Still a great looking set when it's all finished.

I completely ditched life to play with the Blue Roadster MOCing this weekend. I'm in love with the MOC I made today and I don't want to take it apart, especially cuz it took a long time to space everything right.

Is there a term for when Lego structures connect by sliding together but don't use studs?

I believe the term is "illegal connection" or something.

I didn't think to ask the guy what the tentacle pieces were. It looks like the tip of each tentacle is the piece that nicoga3000 referred to, but it looks to me like the pieces that connect the tips to the body are different (ie- they have a constant diameter and don't slim down to a point at one end). And we definitely need more steampunk Star Wars!

Love the mini-figure that's piloting the b-wing...

Haha, ya I figure this is illegal, although I swear there are parts of official sets that slide together using flat tiles.

Anyway, police cushman:

The top slides into place and holds pretty snug. It all lines up nicely, no noticeable strain on anything.

More pics of slightly different decor placement. I eventually used the entire BR set except for the clear horns and the blue pegs that fit into them.

White House completed.

Pretty cool build, but I see what others said about that one step that says "Do this 16x!" Of course, that is the point where the entire build comes together.

Love the offset areas throughout the entire build using jumper plates, and the set looks fantastic once finished. Definitely a good display piece, and it takes up very little space. Although, the surface area of the base was larger than anticipated.

This was my first set in this series, and I really like it. I dont like the square bound nature of the instruction manual, but I love the layout of it. It begins with a history of the architect and the building itself. Then occasionally throughout the build, there are trivia bits on the page explaining a bit of history of the section you are building in that step. That little touch is fantastic.

Overall: Highly Recommended. Very nice build, and one of the better priced Architecture sets out there. (560pc for $50)

Time to begin Farnsworth House

Alien Conquest Mothership would be better IMO!

All the more reason to go and get that set finally!

And I just started Farnsworth House. This may sound stupid, but I thought the set was light great judging by the box. Blame the bad lighting in the store. I got home expecting it to be light grey, but it is almost all white.

Also, almost half the piece count is the 1x1 flat white tiles. Over 230 of them. So if someone needs a TON of those tiles, this is the set to get. :)

The SW Steampunk MOCs are cool and all, but that colour scheme is just... All I see is poo and corn, basically; or Vegemite.

Agreed. Neat concept, execution leaves a bit to be desired. It just looks like a mess of brown.

Anyways, finish Farnsworth House:

The surface area of the base was much larger than I anticipated. 38 studs wide. Wider than a normal baseplate.

Overall the build was rather dull really. SO MANY 1X1 tiles. Funny that that is the reason I got it (just for MOC stuff), but doing steps where all you do is lay down about 50 of them makes it a bit dull.

I do like the touches inside the house though. The micro scale seating and tables:

And for size comparison to the White House set:

Overall: Meh. The box made it look a lot cooler than it really is. Lots of tiny little pieces that will be handy for MOCs, but a rather dull build and a rather dull display piece as well. And I was a bit disappointed it was white and not light grey like I thought it was. Guess I need better lighting to judge at the store. But if you ever need a plethora of white 1x1 tiles, this has 238 of them for ya. And a ton of 2x2 white tiles as well.

I might get Fallingwater and Robie House eventually. I know Fallingwater is well regarded, but I have so much tan stuff from Tower Bridge I dunno if I want it. But it does have tons of clear bricks. Robie House has tons of clear bricks and a whole helluva lot of dark red bricks though. Eventually I will get them whenever a good deal presents itself.

And for some fun:

I had so much fun replicating the mini-modular Pet Shop set that I decided to build another mini-modular I found on Flickr; Town Hall!
6824517180_d872b7921a_z.jpg

I built it as accurately as possible (I have very few lantern pieces so I had to leave the windows on the front and back blank), and it is a very nice looking set. The only problem is that it isn't the correct scale compared to the other mini-modulars.

The base is correct, but the height was wrong! It ended up being shorter than the Firehouse when it should be a bit taller.

I've modified it so that it is roughly the correct scale with the other sets and I think I managed to retain everything pretty well. One of the problems with the originals is that the pieces they used to replicate the pillars are actually too short. I ended up lowering the stairs a bit but doubling the height of the pillars by making another stack on top of the original one.

The pillars might be a little bit tall this way, but I feel that it's closer than the original and lets me get the overall height of the building more accurate.

Since I'm missing so many pieces I probably wont post pics yet since it's mostly the basic structure made with random colored pieces. I think I will try to buy the correct pieces along with the mini-pet shop I built so that I can have a complete Mini-Modular collection!

yea I found that mini modular a while back, it looks gorgeous. Originally I had thought about how one would to the pillars in the miniture scale, but that model just nails it.

anyway the LEGO GAF custom model contest is a blast, the entries so far a brilliant and far surpass what I would have considered possible before hand.

And I think we were and are able to get lots of new people to join in the fun, the low price point of the chosen model I believe was a very good choice on our part.

But I wanted to give you guys a heads up, Ill be on holiday as of Thursday Morning and as I am hiking in the wild updates will be sporadic at best, I should be able to update the OT at least once towards the end of the month. And I will be back for good before the final deadline to wrap everything up.

Love the mini-figure that's piloting the b-wing...

Great pictures!

Sadly I couldn't get close enough to the steampunk sets to have a nice look...and I just remembered now that there was an official B Wing set up at the entrance that I missed. Dammit.

Glad you got a shot of the meatball thing!

I'm just about done with the Excavator and I NEED to put it on the table that this set is FANTASTIC. It's not for everyone (given that it's Technic and not System) as the building techniques and macro assembly can be slightly challenging. But holy wow at the complexity of the model.

The building techniques and mechanics of this model simply cannot be appreciated until you've assembled it yourself. Once you realize how much attention to detail has gone into every single pin, axle, gear, and link, you start to understand why the guys who are Technic specialists at LEGO are there. It's no joke!

If you EVER think you're going to be interested in Technic, this set is a must buy before it goes away.

Doesn't it blow you away how there are so many functions, all going through that centre gearbox thing?

When I look at it, I just sort of laugh. It makes me smile when I manually rotate a gear at one location, and a completely random gear moves elsewhere - it makes me appreciate the care that went into every single piece. The mechanics of these large Technic models is mind numbing.

Anyone who can MOC a working/functioning Technic model has my respect. Hopefully I can get there!
