I am flying back home to Jacksonville on Friday and taking the cab straight to the theather. Should be fun...

so what is the corniest review line so far?

The Dark Knight Rises to the top of its genre?

The puns are going to be so intense for this.

The Dark Knight fails to RISE to expectations
The Dark Knight RISES to the occasion
Nolans' influences RISES because of The Dark Knight RISES which RISED to the occasion and RISED above and beyond expectRISEtions.

Oh man this is going to Piss Devin Faraci off, I know IndieWire review has been posted but the last paragraph

If, as Badass Digest argues, “The Avengers” “defeated irony and cynicism,” then “The Dark Knight Rises” feels like the rock-bottom, lowest-point examination of ourselves which provides the substance to make Joss Whedon’s optimistic vision endure. Because Nolan’s film is a reminder that superheroes aren’t merely a frivolous distraction, or even a wish-fulfillment fantasy, but an embodiment of our best selves – or at least what we want our best selves to be. A cinematic, cultural and personal triumph, “The Dark Knight Rises” is emotionally inspiring, aesthetically significant and critically important for America itself – as a mirror of both sober reflection and resilient hope.

The bank scene was good but all of the extras were horrifically written and acted, as was the bank manager. Cringe-worthy. That stuff really brought that entire opening down for me.

Found this scene to fall apart when you noticed the guy with the shotgun getting shot and not bleeding and not having any bullets holes.

I'm only glancing at blurbs, not reading any of the reviews for fear of spoilers, but what are the reviews like for Bane and Catwoman so far? And how many go on about the Joker in comparison?

236 hours :( damn you German release dates and dubbed versions (well on the bright side: i'll be able to understand Bane)
I'd prefer having difficulties to understand him... in the trailers Bane's spanish voice was a disappointment, it didn't sound deep enough. I'm so jealous of Bane's french dubbing, it sounds really threatening.

As for me, 97 hours.

In spain it's released the 20th? For me, it make me think to a bad cartoon character.

Digital Spy 5/5

The Dark Knight Rises barely lets up throughout its two-hour, 45-minute running time as Nolan precision-engineers a full-throttle blockbuster with the walloping, Hans Zimmer-backed action sequences of The Dark Knight and the emotional weight of Batman Begins. It's the events of the 2005 series restart that tie very closely to what unfolds in Rises, as Bruce's past and present collide for a jaw-dropping trilogy closer. The Dark Knight Rises is intelligent, heart-pounding spectacle cinema that grips like a vice from minute one and won't let go.

Rolling Stones 4.5/5

The Dark Knight Rises is the King Daddy of summer movie epics. For nearly three hours, Nolan juggles themes that took root in 2005's Batman Begins and reached doomsday perfection in 2008's The Dark Knight with the late Heath Ledger's masterful, Oscar- winning performance as the Joker.

Otherwise, just let The Dark Knight Rises propel you into Nolan's carefully wrought maze. You may have to fight yourself out. But a movie this potent and provocative is well worth the battle.

Rolling Stones review is spoilery but he seems to argue he docked 0.5 points because Audiences might need to watch Batman Begins to understand and appreciate TDKR

Bale is such a fucking humourless bore in every interview. Christ, lighten up dude

I'm interested to hear Mark Kermodes review on this. Hey didn't like the dark knight at all but was very fond of Batman Begins. His reviews are always good

I honestly can't stand the guy.

I'm just grasping at straws :( German Bane sounds awful in the trailers, like he's having a light cold or something. Unfortunately the best / biggest cinema in town is only showing the dubbed version. :(

Oh shit, reviews coming in by the bucket loads. I think I'll stay in this thread and not venture out to any batman related sites, or any movie sites for that matter, it'll be safe in here right?

Maybe? Any person who spoils though will be hounded by a barrage of people calling them the c-word.

when I hear that stupid fucking Kelly Clarkson song whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger or whatever it makes me think of TDK.

and VICE-VERSA.

AND NOW I HAVE BESTOWED THIS CURSE UPON YOU

I wonder how these Nolan Batman films will stack up in my favorite trilogies. Toy Story is my favorite, as it's the only trilogy I feel actually gets better as it goes along(and the original is pretty darn good). The first two Godfather movies are masterpieces, but the third one is kinda "eh". Same thing with the original Star Wars. Return of the King isn't as weak as RotJ or Godfather Part 3, but I still felt it was my least favorite of the series, and my god does that fuckin' ending go on for 50 years. Three Colors would be right up there, although like the Man With No Name I feel like one installment is MUCH better then the other two.

And fuckin' Kingdom of the Crystal Shit throws Indy out.

4.5 might be an accurate score for the movie but the reason why .5 is docked is beyond stupid. Audiences might have to see Batman Begins? Um yeah its part 1 of the trilogy so you kinda should.
