Believe it or not, and this goes for trailers too, it is believed that most people want to know what they are getting before they get it. So we get trailers which show the entire movie in broad strokes, and spoiler-laden reviews.

People WANT to know that Alfred assumes the mantle of Batman after Bruce dies of auto-erotic asphyxiation.

Believed by who? The people who market these movies?

I also want to know enough about a movie before I invest money into a ticket, but not the actual plot.

Yes we are. Some reviewers just like the attention.

Others just want to see the world burn. Yes, yes, I know however to discredit someone because they liked what you deemed a crappy movie more than your favorite is somewhat ridiculous. This of course assuming that it was even the exact same person doing both reviews.

I don't get why as a reviewer you would spoil. The secrecy about the plot is well publicized by now, the movie isn't out yet, so why would you spoil? The review's purpose is to convince readers to either go see it or not, not to ruin the plot.

On one hand, I agree, but on the other, I do think that the spoiler-heavy reviews are the better written ones (except Time pointlessly throwing in quotes from the film), because they lay out the reasoning for their conclusions.

You missed the glaring point that ummm..the reviewer has ACTUALLY seen the movie while the poster is defending something he hasnt.

I've been really nervous to enter this thread recently. Dem spoilers man.. Anyways, couldn't be more excited for the premiere!

Also : first post on GAF! I'm the happiest camper around right now.

We've been pretty restrained here with the spoilers. There was one douche, but I don't see that happening again.

Welcome to GAF!

Guys stop responding in anything other than quotes from BB and TDK.

You have nothing to threaten me with.

I remember reading an interview with Zemeckis, about 13 years ago, and he says about as much when it comes to spoilers in a trailer. Remember that What Lies Beneath trailer...

"To do our art we need people to go see our movies," explains the film's director Robert Zemeckis, a man who knows a thing or two about box-office hits with Forrest Gump and the Back to the Future movies on his resume.

"In a perfect world, you wouldn't have to show a scene like that in the trailer. But that's not the world we live in. ... Nobody wants to be surprised anymore."

Luckily, I've discovered the natural weakness to all Nolan fanboys: stairs. Poor bastards can barely make it one flight.

I can't wait until TDKR comes out and we have new quotes to abuse. I feel like the well's dried up.

Now, you think because we've gone through every line in the movie, you know about the quoteless side of life, but you don't. You've never tasted desperate...

You haven't thought it through. You haven't thought about using Rachel's quotes! BANG!

That Say it! line was amazing.

Sure was! I'm going to marry Harvey Dent. I love him, and I want to spend the rest of my life with him.

my friend has an extra ticket for the 12:00am july 20th showing at lincoln square imax in nyc. if you are interested then please shoot me a pm.

Only a cynical man would call what these quotes are "dried up".

There may still be some life in the quotes after all...

Who is he taking about? Marshall?

The guy who is getting eviscerated on RT for his negative TDKR review.
