Are you wearing a suit? Just walk in like you own the fucking place.

I always wanted to try this but don't have the gumption. I see it in movies/TV all the time where if you act and look like you should be there then people believe it, as long as you can pull it off.

Well that's one way to disregard a review you don't agree with.
Might be preferable to drudging up a critic's older reviews, though.

Mount the hype!

Eckhart, Bale, Freeman and Caine's performances were also stellar.

I agree with that. I think TDK is a pretty great ensemble, but that's not the way most critics recall it.

I imagine a lot of these reviewers haven't watched a Batman movie since the last one came out in theaters.

I remember thinking after the film ended that Ledgers performance was the best on screen villain since Hannibal Lecter.

It's very rare that a character can be portrayed as equal parts horrifying and mesmerizing.

Disagree. John Doe in seven was amazing AND his plan worked. One of the sexiest endings I've ever seen.

She sounds mixed on the film overall. Her review makes it sound ambitious and grand, with a lot more flaws than its predecessor.

Some of her commentary on Bane makes me think she might've misunderstood what Nolan was trying to do with the character. Is that her fault, or Nolan's?

Find out this Friday, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel!

I'm still getting a "Why so serious?" vibe from some of the reviews, like there are still a few out there who want Nolan to stop taking Batman so seriously. It isn't really a bad review or anything though, as it's well-written and gets its point across clear enough. I agree that it wasn't totally negative. Seems like the movie just let her down based on expectations more than anything.

On a serious note, the chances of this movie's RT score/critical reception was always an uphill battle. For Batman Begins, it was a very good film coming off the lowest point in the franchise, for TDK it was a great film + Ledger's performance + everything else. For this one, people will be disappointed if Batman dies (or not) , back is broken (or not), Anne & Cotillard make out (or not).

This is true, heightened expectations. It's what Prometheus had, it's what Avatar and Avengers 2 will have. It's fun reading all the reviews and seeing what people make of it, but I can't imagine being hyped or angered at any of them.

Except Runt, that c

Prometheus had 5 negative reviews in its first 30 reviews

TDKR has 1.

Have their been any negatives from people who gave positives to TDK? Any positives from people who gave negatives to TDK?

So far it sounds like you'll like this about as much as you liked TDK.

i guess this is the portion of the hype week where everyone hand-wrings over reviews and tries to undercut the opinions of those negative people before they've even seen the film, so time to return on July 20.

Christy Lemire from AP didn't like it, but liked TDK. Felt the Joker's presence was a big factor to that.

Man all this review talk is dragging this thread down. "Uhm what is the direct correlation between Battleship reviews vs The Dark Knight Rises on a case by case basis?"

getaaaaaahtahee-ya.

Someone fun this thread up. All these reviews say the same shit. "Great send off to a great series" blah blah blah.

Only some of those negative reviews to be laughed at. Some are from obvious Nolan and or Batman haters.

Even though I will find the endless "IT DOESN'T HAVE JOKER" impressions/reviews annoying, it is a legit criticism in that they didn't find the villains and other characters as interesting this time around.

You want fun? Watch Batman and Robin. We're here to see Batman die.

Things were always going to get worse before they got better.

I seriously don't get the obsession over reviews aggregate websites like metacritic or rt.
