It will most likely get a best screenplay nomination like when he had Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums. It's been his best reviewed movie(live action) in a while. I really think this year Wes has a chance at a best director nomination I dunno if he'll win though.

Nolan told us in Begins that the sequels would be about escalation. That ending scene was him waving his dick in our faces saying "look it hasn't even started to get hard and grow but just you wait and see"

It's not us. It's if the story is completely fleshed out in the given time. From what we heard initially, TDKR was around three and a half to four hours long before they had to cut it. Lemire's argument is that there's too much exposition and not enough character development.

Avatar had no reason to be in the Top 3 for Best Picture. It broke the record, but the story felt bland and the performances were blah at best.

Doesn't even matter, some oscar bait movie will win in the end while the more entertaining movies lose out. Also Tarantino will continue to get snubbed.

It will get a best screenplay nomination, and maybe some acting nods for Waltz and DiCaprio.

But in awesome fantasy world, it wins everything and QT goes on stage and does the biggest film nerd acceptance speech of them all. "I like to thank Sergio Leone for making the best movie EVER, etc"
 
Why do cast members keep missing the photo-op? First Hardy with Mad Max, now Michael Caine gets injured and missed the premiere.

Indeed. I've said it before, but I'm worried we may get a great viewing experience (action, explosions, goddamn batman) and not a great story. Like Spiderman 3, but with a great director, cinematographor, and an enthusiastic cast.

I meant to put that last sentence in quotes as if it was Nolan saying it. Anyways, she's he first I've heard say that about the characters. *shrugs*

I've stayed away from the reviews due to spoiler warnings, but I know Christy Lemire from What the Flick? so I read that one. I'm sure if I read a few more I'd be less worried.
 
Just a thought, but do any of you guys believe that TDK received more praise because Ledger died? It was a great performance, one that will stand out forever, but I've always thought about that.

Kinda. I think the movie and Ledger would've still been widely praised even if he hadn't died though.

'Dark Knight Rises' Stars Pick Their Favorite Scenes

Batman himself, Christian Bale, recalled the first scene in which Bruce Wayne shared his idea for the Caped Crusader with Alfred. "There's a scene where Michael Caine's character, Alfred, and myself as Bruce are sitting on the plane and we first talk about the symbol of Batman and who he is and why," Bale said. "That really sets up what is going to happen for the next three movies."

One of the newest additions to the cast, Anne Hathaway also went back to the very start of things for her favorite scene. "Well, in the first film, it's the part where Wayne Manor is burning down, and Bruce Wayne is trapped underneath that beam and Alfred comes and says the words that his father had said to him, 'Why do we fall?' and he pushes it up," she said. "That gets me going every time."

For Gary Oldman, his very first scene working on the film has stuck with him the longest. "It's the first scene that I played in 'Batman Begins,' and that was [when] I got out of the police car on the dock and there was a bevy of criminals that was bound and gagged," he said. "Someone had taken care of them. I was not aware at that point in the story there was a Batman."

The tragic loss of Heath Ledger is never far from anyone's mind when discussing the legacy of the series, and Nestor Carbonell remembered his few scenes with the Joker vividly. "Heath Ledger's performance in ['The Dark Knight'] was so breathtaking, just about any scene with him," he said.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt treasures the entire trilogy's structure rather than one particular scene. "I think each movie has its own necessary place," he said. "There's a beginning, a middle and an end. That's a true trilogy. They talk a lot of trilogies. They say, 'Oh, it's a trilogy.' It's not a trilogy. It's three sequels, but this is really a trilogy. That's what satisfies me as an audience member."

Oh BTW, 50/50 finally came out on blu here (it never got a theatrical release over here wtf) and it's the first film to convince me JGL can carry a film convincingly as a lead.
