And he was also featured in that exact pose as a young boy, on one of the earliest LEGO sets.

And yeah, if you have the opportunity to get that set, you need to move, son!!

It came with some stickers and yes, that is a small board glued to the cover. <3

Holy crap, I was gonna help my friend with a Minecraft set, but we live in Canada so I was gonna try to get it middlemanned. I just looked on Amazon.com and it's $87 now...ffffffffff

I ordered, cancelled, reordered, and cancelled the Blue Roadster since the contest OP went up cuz they were taking so long. But I still ordered the Shuttle Expedition on Friday and it hasn't shipped yet. I was actually considering Mines of Moria for $70 in the gold box deals.

Grabbed Thor polybag at tru. Score. They had the Fury class interceptor there. Was excited til I saw them charging $110 for it. Even with a coupon that makes it about $90. Ripoff.

Ok GAF, I have decided I want to get back in on Lego. What sets represent best bang for buck piece wise etc?

My Minecraft set arrived but I almost don't want to take it out of its box lol. I'm treating this one as "special" so I don't really want to mix it with the rest.

The pieces are mostly tiny, but the Mini Modular set is a little less than 6 cents a piece. The full sized modulars are more expensive, but they mostly have great bang-for-buck as well.

I've said it before but as a beginner I've gotten the most mileage by far out of the Creator sets. In particular I've gotten more hours of super fun building out of the $13 Blue Roadster set than any of the expense sets I've bought.

Licensed sets are amazing and I love my Slave 1, X-Wing, TIE, and everything else, but the cooler looking the model is, the less I'm inclined to take it apart for creative use.

The modular building line has amazing bang for buck and are fantastic sets. The king for bang for buck right now is Tower Bridge. $240 for over 4000 pieces.

If you don't want to go over the $100 amount though, Creator sets are always fun and come with instructions for three models. Just look at the contest thread for how fun even a $12 creator set is.

Also if you are like me and unsure about how deep you are really going to end up with this hobby, the smaller sets are easier to manage. I worry about using a huge set for MOCs and then later realizing I want to restore the original set but the pieces are scattered all over my collection. If you're worried about the Minecraft set staying together, that might be a concern for you. The more generic, the better in that case, cuz then you can just enjoy it.

That is my issue. It took a lot for me to break down Tower Bridge, but now that I have and the pieces are across many MOCs, I dont think I will ever put it back up. But I have not had the nerve to take down all my modulars or Star Wars stuff. They look too good on display, even though there are tons of great pieces in them to make MOCs I have in my head.

One is a destructive, mentally unstable force to be reckoned with. The other is The Hulk.
How can two totally different people possible live together in such a small apartment? They are "Perfect Strangers."

From the Lego GAF MOC contest.

www.shopforme.com.au having one of their blitzathons today. New deal every hour.

Town Hall $230
Tower Bridge $260

They had the mini modulars for $85 but that sold out in about 1 minute. My order went through but I'm not holding my breath.

Haha, I'm the exact same way. At most I will take just the pieces I need from my nicer sets in order to build the MOC I'm working on.

My Cool Cruiser set has been used to create 2 of them already and I still have a ton of pieces left over.

guess what? my order hasn't been shipped yet, this is the first time super saver for me is taking too long to ship

I want my Legos and I want it now! :|

Ya, mine neither; says it's due to ship out on Friday. Usually amazon ships really fast for books and other things; often been surprised to get it Fedex 2 days after I've ordered it. Considering it's free and I live in Hawaii, that's quite a deal.

Got anything yet? I'll bite on the Funhouse if they can do 25% on it. Only Mini Modulars for me so far assuming I actually got one.

Nah, man. Abstinence until the B-Wing drops. There aren't any sets that I really want right now and I just bought and filled up a new shelf. Storage is becoming a serious issue now. Congrats on the Mini Mods. I'm sure S4M will come through with the order; I've ordered stuff that's sold out nigh instantly with no problems.
