Came to see how the review metacritic is standing and if Bat-GAF is melting down similarliy to Uncharted-GAF after Deception. Still quite civil here....

Anyway. My hypelevel is seriously dropping a bit now after reading some stuff here. If it ends up as good as BB/TDK I'm more than happy, but I guess it won't.

Why wouldn't it? Most of the negative reviews are from critics who hated TDK as well.

So the ratio of positive to negative is something like 5 to 1, yet the 1 negative review is going to dismay you?

There is no point..which is why I think this is a way for everyone to pass the time till they see the movie. Well, I hope thats what this is. There is no way someone could care that much about someone elses opinion and its effect on an aggregate score.

I wouldn't say "there's no way". People take the opinions of others very seriously. It also doesn't help that Batgaf has generally made up their minds that this movie is going to be great so any reviews for or against that notion will cause a reaction. I'm personally indifferent towards the film and I'm reserving judgement so I don't really care about this score.

I do like the meltdowns though. It's fun to watch.

Can't remember anyone who hated TDK.

..? Yah, but very few people hate this either. It's certainly getting better reviews than the first film. Critics seem to generally find it on par with 2.

I sense a disturbing presence in BatGAF trying to purposefully send this thread the way of Uncharted 3.

My hypelevel was dangerously high before. Anything but deep fried chocolate coated jesus on a stick would have been disappointing to me. I rather lie to myself thinking it will suck and be blown away later, than the other way around. These few rotten reviews come at the right time.

We agree entirely...and we really agree on the bolded. Its amazing to me that people take this stuff so seriously.

Makes no sense why people will put an overwhelming amount of emphasis on the bad reviews, from people who are known to dislike Nolan or his Batman movies, and ignore the majority of positive, even hugely enthusiastic, responses.

To be fair, Uncharted 3 was a huge disappointment.

When TDK came out I was so effing hyped for it that it ended up making less of an impact on me on my first viewing; I kept expecting to get blown away like everyone else, but no movie on Earth could have surpassed my expectations. I'm thus leaving my expectations low for this movie so I can experience it in a neutral state of mind.

I like seeing what other people think of films but I'm in no way bound to their criticisms. I'm much more willing to overlook some of the nit picks critics come up with and I also have things that bother me in films that get rave reviews.

I don't know if it's BatGAF, but I do have a feeling GAF in general will treat this like UC3.

Just like Uncharted 2, there's a huge amount of people who jumped on Nolan Batman with TDK. That's going to be the standard for them, and a deviation from that in pacing or tone, or any perceived weakness is probably going to be overemphasized and criticized.

Negative is more powerful than positive in this world. That goes for everything. Just the way humans operate. Its crazy.

Anyway, who's going to the AMC marathon? Im definitely going. Alway wanted to see TDK in IMAX again. I never been to a movie marathon before. Are there breaks in between each movie?

Exactly, I learned through the Twilight Princess and Uncharted 3 debacles that overhyping a good form of media is never good. I'm going into the film with mediocre expectations.

Should be a good 15-30 min before each film.

I think it's because positive reviews will always sound the same. Great acting, great ending to the trilogy, great directing, Bale was great blah blah blah. But to find out why someone disliked something is always a bit of a discovery. It's almost like "why do you NOT like this while 30+ others do?". I'm more interested in those opinions because they're more of a mystery.

Too bad I can't READ the fracking things.

The only thing I'm worried about is how effective Bane is going to be as a "Final" villain. Part of me will still be bitter about that villain choice other than....well you know. :(

I'm surprised that some critics are saying TDK has more emotional intensity, or that this one doesn't reach the heights of TDK. Joker really seemed to make that for some of them.

Written my spoiler review but will post tomorrow night from a link somewhere as not to spoil it for anyone.

Have no fears whatsoever

Some of you people are weak sauce. I'm not going to compromise with fake IMAX. I'll be there 6:30 AM for the real one.

Our city only has one real IMAX screen, at the science center, but unfortunately it runs feature films as second-run, so I'd have to wait a few months to see the film in proper IMAX. As such, LIEMAX will have to do for now. I'll probably see it again on the real IMAX. I saw TDK on it and it blew my head apart.

YOU'RE one of the people going to that show? A friend and I were talking about when we are going to see the movie and whether or not it was worth $20 for IMAX (resolution: no fucking way) and then we noticed the 6:30am showing was sold out and we were SHOCKED.

How are you gonna be able to sit through a movie at such a time? You cray.
