My reviewer who loves the other Nolan Batman films saw it: "I have about eight million things to say about The Dark Knight Rises -- most of them positive, some in confused frustration. Powerful, epic, filled with moments of grandness, moments of bizarre stupidity." Said he'd give it a B+ probably.

He also said there is
a specific moment (possible one shot) that nearly undercuts the whole finale.
Interested to know what it is.

How much of the film is shot in imax? Should I see this in imax? The theater is a good 30 minutes away from me and tickets are sold out all weekend.

Idk assuming TDKR stays in the 80% range, I think that's good considering that's where his last movie (Inception) scored. And I LOVED Inception.

...and there are many who think Inception's a better film than TDK.

When the films are all this close in reception (84-94), using the aggregate numbers as a ranking is pretty unreliable.

Well this movie def seems more divisive and I think a large part of that is simply the lack of a villain like the Joker. Which might be a good thing for a lot of us since all people seem to care about or like in TDK is the Joker. Going everyone knew no matter which villain they picked and no matter how well its portrayed, no one was going to top Heath and his Joker. Not this soon.

Still why are people discrediting actual critics like Ebert? Its not like he has some bias against Nolan or Batman. He loved the previous ones. And this one he likes too but slightly less.

I wonder how much the expectations part this time is hurting the movie. Its good for me for now since its lowering my expectations a degree, compared to TDK which was receiving so much praise that it was impossible to live up to.

Fuck! I have to wait 2 weeks to see it then. Oh well. Guess I will steer clear of this thread until then.

Or do both?

I know I will see it more than once in the theaters. IMAX is $20 per ticket, so that might be only once. Second viewing will be regular theater.

That's an option...

$20 a ticket?! Yikes! The Imax theater near me has tickets for about $12. I think that's cheaper than the standard theater.

? Enlighten me.

The Fountain :>

Well he must be mistaken because Lost in Translation has a 95%.

That is one of my favs as well.

You know what? I haven't seen that movie since it came out and I did find that I liked it a lot. No clue why as I can't remember shit about it now. Love Weisz, though. That she isn't in more movies is a crime.

Ebert gives TDK 4 stars, fans rejoice!

Ebert gives TDKR 3 stars, fans say he's got no credibility anymore.

Batman fans are borderline fascists... It's "Say it's good or you're not credible", for everybody. If you say it's bad, we'll go check your past and find out if you liked any movie we don't like, and then say you've got no credibility. But if the critic likes TDKR, then, no need to check for his background, his opinion is instantly redeemed by his adoration of Nolan.

Seriously, guys, you're pathetic.

I don't think you know what a fascist is.

And why do you keep coming back here? Everything you do here is just negative.

Already answered to that.

Trying to shine a light on this critical bullying phenomenon that you guys seem to be unaware of, and that's been recently mainly associated with superhero films and.. Nolan.

And, yeah, Nolan wishes he could do The Tree of Life once in his life.

Tree of Life deserves the 6.9 on imdb, it has some good stuff but I can only classify it as watchable. I was really hyped too but I didn't really get anything out of it. Brad Pitt family parts were the best bits.

I don't know why people don't get Ebert and his hate for violent action flicks.

He loves Tarantino though, so I guess if it has good dialogue/characters he's okay with it.

Just finished BB and now onto TDK after not seeing it in a while. TDK takes a while to get rolling but it does have a pretty fantastic opening

BB is on FX right now btw. When WB does a reboot I want something darker, otherworldly, more of a comic book in nature

Didn't one of the critics submit a negative review before he even watched the movie?

That's uncool.

You know what's even more uncool? Trashing a reviewer who gave a negative review without even seeing the movie. You know why that happens? Because you're so convinced the movie is going to be the best movie ever that you won't even care how it ends up : you'll just LOVE it.

Your words, not this threads. We love Ebert. We're damn scared of his spoilery reviews, but outside of a couple self-aware jokes, no one here really seems to give much of a shit.

Your criticism would be better directed at a place like SHH.

Why are you acting so emotional/intense?
