What's wrong with Return of the King?

Forgot about this and Toy Story 3.

Yeah, seriously. Overall, the film is getting great reviews, so I don't know what everyone is getting worked up over.

Most of us are kidding I think, at least I am. We're all excited and looking forward to it but it's fun to feign disappointment without even seeing it just as a run on joke about how fanboys can never be satisfied.

The only review that matters is your own, when you watch the film.

This is the internet, man. There are... no rules here.

The Rachel monologue while they are driving down to the docks (where it turns from day to night instantly) up to Falcone's "fear" speech is the worst stretch of BB dialogue by far.

That was the example I was thinking of when I wrote that :lol

I'm actually worried about Plannar. The guy seemed to be genuinely worried about the rotten reviews coming in but was still convinced it could make the 90% mark. With things standing the way they are, and his sudden silence, I don't know what to think.

Worst part of TDKR for me is, I realize, the lack of any truly memorable quotes - there's one - but joker had them left and right.

90% of the best lines in BB are from Ducard. In fact most of the quotes from the movie that are used in Bat GAF come from the first half of the movie. 2nd half of BB is really forgettable and treads into mediocre comic book movie territory.

I love Nolan Batman, I have seen each of them at least 20 times but both BB and TDK have legitimate flaws in them. I reasonable expect TDKR to be a similar type of movie, overall great but will most likely fall short of perfection. But even then I am hyped because it's the fucking Batman.

I have no doubt that after all is said and done that the Batman trilogy (all 3 movies) will rest at the top of the comic book movie pantheon. The order of them will shift around after people have seen all of the movies in the trilogy multiple times. I will be telling my future generations about the greatness of this trilogy while quoting lines.

I realize, is the lack of any memorable quotes, except on one
I don't know man, even from the 2 trailers I have seen there are enough of them. I know I am going to get the chills when I hear the "not yet" line on the big screen.

Why can't people discuss the flaws(or the idea of flaws) in things they like without being called "mad" or "melting down"?

Since when did it become crazy not to 100% like a thing you're anticipating?

Every single movie I like I can name flaws in.

...except Back to the Future.

Back to the Future is perfect.

If you make yourself more than just a man... If you devote yourself to an ideal... and if they can't stop you... you become something else entirely...

A fucking crazy Batfan.

Bingo.

Nolan's still the same filmmaker. His movies all share very similar flaws. I think that people are very selective in their memories or praise of his movies when they distinguish between them. In every single one of them, there's a lot of corny lines, cheesy monologues, and expository nonsense that would fall like an anchor if they came out of any other actors' mouths.

But his movies are usually greater than the sum of their parts. I fully expect TDKR will be the same.

How are the fight scenes in DKR?

It's so strange that Nolan did such a bad job in the fight scenes in Batman Begins and the Dark Knight (shaky cams, yuck), considering the fight scenes in Inception are fantastic.

They're very good, don't worry. You'll be able to tell exactly where everything is, unlike BB's clumsy fight/chase scenes.

I find it fascinating that Nolan has the biggest Internet fan following of all the directors. I mean there are a few Spielberg fanboys here and a few Cameron fans there but nothing as larger as Nolan's. And its not due to his age either cause there are far younger directors out there too.

With that said, larger fan following means greater chance of wackos and far greater chances of hate clubs too. So it doesnt just go both ways, it goes all ways. #crazytalk

I still don't quite understand how the Nolans wrote The Prestige. It's so much better than anything they've ever worked on. Sure it's based on a novel, but it still manages to escape from most of the Nolan trappings.

I look over all the loop holes because I don't go looking for them in any movie, the experience in his movies are more enjoyable than any other director, if I had to pick loop holes I would become a director myself

Prestige is my fav film but its not an audience or critic friendly film, its an artsy film with sci fi elements. thats why its considered very under rated, got the worst RT of his movies as well as the worst BO performance

I think it's because he specializes in blockbusters that also attain critical acclaim. Michael Bay does the former but he can't achieve the latter.

If he didn't make the Batman films or Inception there's no way he would have this fanbase.

Exactomundo,

The whole of a Nolan film is what makes it, each piece falls in line fantastically.

Seems like my vacation came at the right time with the fallout from reviews I'm reading on the web and RT closing comments.

Fun times.

I will give GAF the review it deserves!

Don't talk like one of those seemingly reasonable NeoGAF critics, you're not! Even if you'd like to be. To them, you're just another asshole, like Sculli. They need you right now, to confirm their hype. But when you don’t, they'll cast you out, like a leper. See, their morals, their NeoGAF Terms of Service... it's a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the reviews allow them to be. I'll show you, when the chips are down, these... these civilized member? They'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster, I'm just ahead of the curve.

This was wasted on the other guy.
