the fuck is Hardy wearing?

Haha no, it's not a vague complaint at all, and it's not a strength in any other film. TDK is full of useless characters, and Inception is the same.

Useless characters are one thing, but I was more referring to how little lines made during small talk can inform the audience of a character's motivations and have a bigger impact on the plot later on. Sure it's a bit heavy-handed in those particular examples, but I don't think in and of itself it is a flaw.

Amirox gave a super positive review for TDK (which was spot on) and a very negative review on Inception (cool concept, shallow with bad pacing and execution)

you have a pretty good memory, i had to search my reviews to remember even how I said it.

I will have to admit my Batman review was a little over the top - even though I still contend that Dark Knight will always remain the ultimate Batman film and I really could have lived without this sequel - but I largely still agree with what I said.

Inception I still agree with everything I said 100%.

Inception was one of those odd movies where I absolutely loved it when I first saw it, but then on repeat viewings it kind of just fell apart on top of itself. Hype is a hell of a drug.

I`m really exited for this movie. I`ve had a lot of fun reading this thread.

I am very hyped. I just finished watching batman begins for the first time in like 6 years.

Excellent movie. I hope this one is just as good. :)Hope to see it later today or tomorrow.

Also. I like coming to this thread. I hope it lives up to its title and doesn`t start spoiling stuff.
I like going in fresh!!!!

Calling it now:

This will be OT's MGS4.

Will most likely be GAF's favourite film of the year, with some vocal posters hating the shit out of it. In couple of years the hateorade will grow (in RTTP threads) and the vocal minority will keep shitting. But there will be some who absolutely keep loving and defending it.

The parallels are to obvious to ignore. Beloved director, convoluted story, too much shit crammed in, hyperbolic levels of hype, e.t.c.

This thread's been a lot of fun. I remember reading along with it a year ago before my account was validated... participating has been awesome.

Loving that some people that hate TDK love this. Loving that people like Sculli think it's good but not a patch on the others.

All three are top tier entertainment for me, 4/4 for each one.

Okay, so I have a problem.

I got a ticket for an imax theater, but I went and checked and found it out that it's a liemax. I tried to get a refund, but they don't do those. So now I'm stuck in a dilemma that I'm either out 16 bucks or I see the movie in a lesser quality.

I tried putting up my ticket on craigslist hoping someone would buy it off me, but no luck so far.

Is there anything else I can do besides just cutting my losses?

I think it's a healthy thing to have such wildly different experiences and favorites. Shows that each film is unique. These could have been the same damn movies three times over.

You just described what happens to literally every piece of entertainment that's ever been discussed on GAF.

The Dark Knight Rises hits the £1 million mark for its advanced bookings at BFI IMAX:
With still two days to go before it opens on Friday 20 July, The Dark Knight Rises – The IMAX Experience has taken over £1 million in advance bookings at London’s BFI IMAX, the biggest cinema screen in Britain.

Tickets for the eagerly awaited final part of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy went on sale at the IMAX five weeks ago, and have now exceeded 62,300 sales. This surpasses the previous advance sales record at the venue, held by James Cameron’s Avatar, which in December 2009 shifted 47,000 tickets, grossing £607,000.

The Dark Knight Rises has already smashed BFI IMAX records for highest first day sales (24,754 tickets grossing £409,838) and the highest first week sales (38,658 tickets, taking £634,013). These records were set earlier this summer by Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

“These figures prove that seeing The Dark Knight Rises in IMAX, to truly experience Christopher Nolan’s incredible vision for the film, is an unmissable event this summer,” says Dennis Laws, the cinema’s General and Technical Manager. “People are even flying in from abroad especially to see the film at BFI IMAX
