The Dark Knight Rises hits the £1 million mark for its advanced bookings at BFI IMAX:
With still two days to go before it opens on Friday 20 July, The Dark Knight Rises The IMAX Experience has taken over £1 million in advance bookings at Londons BFI IMAX, the biggest cinema screen in Britain.
Tickets for the eagerly awaited final part of Christopher Nolans Batman trilogy went on sale at the IMAX five weeks ago, and have now exceeded 62,300 sales. This surpasses the previous advance sales record at the venue, held by James Camerons Avatar, which in December 2009 shifted 47,000 tickets, grossing £607,000.
The Dark Knight Rises has already smashed BFI IMAX records for highest first day sales (24,754 tickets grossing £409,838) and the highest first week sales (38,658 tickets, taking £634,013). These records were set earlier this summer by Ridley Scotts Prometheus.
These figures prove that seeing The Dark Knight Rises in IMAX, to truly experience Christopher Nolans incredible vision for the film, is an unmissable event this summer, says Dennis Laws, the cinemas General and Technical Manager. People are even flying in from abroad especially to see the film at BFI IMAX.
