the astronomic unreachable expectations you mean

I think it's fine to have high expectations walking into this film. BB and TDK set the bar for what this franchise can deliver and TDKR should be able to at least come close if not match them. However I understand that some viewers expect Nolan to make the greatest film of all-time.

Original Star Wars and Toy Story.

If only Temple of Doom didn't exist...

As much as I love the original star wars trilogy I think Return falls short of the others.

It`s George starting to be today`s George. Don`t get me wrong I love it and it is very good, but it`s just much weaker than the others. Therefore I think it falls into sort of the trilogy curse

Whoever made this is a hero:

I think ROTJ has lower lows, but it also has the highest highs of the trilogy.

I mean Luke/Vader/Emperor is still some of the most compelling stuff in blockbusters.

Agreed. Return Of The Jedi is still a fun movie, but it falls short of the other two.

^^ Wow at that pic of Bane and Spider Man :D ^^

hey man. thinking it`s not as great as the first two doesn`t make me a snob. (does it? :P). By the way, I in way think it sucks just that it`s weaker.

I know I`m going to get backlash for thinking this lol

Problem I have with the way some people review films is that they trash it when it does not meet their expectations/not the same quality as previous films in a franchise. Perfect example is ROTJ, which did not match the previous two films but was far from being trash. Films can miss expectations and still be good.

14 hours since I saw it. There's nothing to worry about guys, you're all in for a treat. Criticisms I've seen have ranged from nitpicky ("too long"), to misguided ("Bane is no Joker") to entitled ("It didn't pan out how I wanted it to") to trolling ("too loud/not funny enough").

None of that will matter when you're watching it on the edge of your seat. In my opinion, the film is a masterpiece.

Just recuperating in bed after midnight screening at IMAX (10am here now).

Loved it :) There were tears of awesomeness (from my boyfriend, but I was holding them back), hehe.

Booked in already to go back on Sat with other friends. Yay!

I can get behind this review ..

yeah I get you. It`s that stupid black and white mentality. Some people fail to grasp there can be a middle ground where things while not perfect can be enjoyable and good.

You'll realise that none of that matters. In my opinion, the film is a masterpiece.

Wait, DKR isn't funny? There goes my hype.

It's funny but ROTJ used to be considered an example of a bad trilogy closer, but over the last decade, with Matrix/Pirates/Spiderman/XMen/etc, I think it's pretty clear that ROTJ ended things fairly well, if not perfectly. You're right that there could be a little more nuance in people's reaction to a lesser (but still good) trilogy closer.

Space battle is magnificent too.

Yes, that too.

Nah, you're not a snob. It is flawed movie, I grant you that.

My main beef with ROTJ was that, with all of the creative freedom in the SW universe, they opted to make the final new planet in the series... the fucking woods. Super underwhelming compared to the likes of Bespin. It was just a lackluster setting and I didn't care for Death Star 1.5.

That being said, still an awesome movie.

Calling it now:

This will be OT's MGS4.

Will most likely be GAF's favourite film of the year, with some vocal posters hating the shit out of it. In couple of years the hateorade will grow (in RTTP threads) and the vocal minority will keep shitting. But there will be some who absolutely keep loving and defending it.

The parallels are to obvious to ignore. Beloved director, convoluted story, too much shit crammed in, hyperbolic levels of hype, e.t.c.

So TDKR ends with Bruce and a miraculously alive Thomas Wayne killing a paraplegic Lucious (who as it turns out was the villain mastermind all along) in a graveyard? Man, fuck that shit!

I want to experience tears of awesomeness. :(

Listen to "Rise" on the soundtrack then, should do the job. I have no idea what happens when that track is playing in the film but it gives me full body chills while listening to it.

The score to this film is fucking amazing.

Selina gains 30 pounds of muscles in her arms, then goes and marries NO MORE DEAD COPS cop.

I remember finishing MGS4's gameplay and thinking after this ending I can go to bed.....an hour later, I finally went to bed. :\

Those of you who already saw the movie, which trailers did you see?

The PeeWee Herman voices one, lol. Seriously, I didn't watch this one in normal voices, hehe.

I also saw the preview of the start before Mission Impossible at Imax, and the trailer where the little boy is singing. Only saw them once each though so didn't remember much at all.

I did watch the PeeWee one like 20 times though cos hat guy really got me crying with laughter.

Thomas: Bruce... it all comes down to bats. Bats fly, and they give people rabies. But what about foxes? Foxes eat bats and also chickens. The world has too many bats. And it all comes down to foxes. Once you eliminate the fox, the bat is free.

Bruce: Dad... you do you realize that these are just our names, right? Animals don't work like that.

Thomas: Quiet son. I don't feel any hatred for Lucius right now. *savagely beats comatose harmless Lucius to death* Only pity. And now, you're going to shoot me with the gun that was implanted in your skull by Bane, my greatest med school apprentice who was helping you this whole time.

Bruce: He nearly killed me and murdered a bunch of people.

Thomas: That's why he's the hero.

*BANG*

*Bruce wanders off*

Dick Grayson: The sun... rises.

What if Dark Knight Rises was the Mass Effect 3 of movies?

Spirit of the Monorail Who Looks Like The Kid From BB: I am the source of all villains. My solution was to create madness in Gotham so that superheroes could never destroy the city.

Bruce: What?

Spirit: You must now choose: Kill all supervillains, turn the supervillains into your own personal Bat-army, or turn everyone in Gotham into costumed criminals or crimefighters.
