great post

I think jonathan Nolan added alot to the series and to Nolan movies, you can see the steep leap of TDK over BB on this regard

I think it all revolves around the character development, Dent was the shinning star here, but Heath with his briliance performance steal the show from him, Batman we fully developed and in TDK we are just living the concequenses of the existance of Batman in Gotham.

That's also what I don't like about TDK, the stealth was the best thing about batman in BB

overall I love both the same, in some aspects TDK and the others BB

Thanks! You can still see the Begins style of dialogue in TDK but it's much more refined with fewer clunky lines... It's still not the best aspect of the films to be sure, but luckily the casting is so good that the actors can often make the most of the script. If Jonathan's involvement is a reason behind the improvement, then kudos to him!

I have to agree with the other aspects of your post... Perhaps in a way TDK was Harvey's film but Heath certainly does steal the show and the marketing certainly primed us for the Joker's performance. Begins and TDK are good at different things in my opinion (with quality overlap of course) so hopefully I find Rises a worthy successor to both.

Man, I feel like boiling either film down to either of those terms does them both an injustice.

We differ greatly on a definition of dull.

You're right, they're quite different in each department. I'm exhausted and it's late and I ain't thinking terribly critically. I know that I have a lot of trouble separating films in a series from one another, and usually view them as one universe, and one story, especially when one director/writer governs the series as a whole. TDK and BB strengthen one another for me; I can't imagine having a wildly different opinion of the two of them.

I appreciate your perspective... but my wildly differing feelings towards them are very honest.

I saw Begins in theaters. I remember walking out of it thinking I had wasted my time. Then I saw Dark Knight, Loved it... thought I must have been mistaken about Begins. Watched it again, really wanting to like it..... and same reaction.

But you're not alone in praise for Begins, so just leave us haters alone on that ;)

5 days before Avengers came out Disney said they were tracking Avengers to do 150-160 million on the weekend, we know it did 207 Million in the end, as Studios always low ball at first to create an impression of power

Today Gitesh Pandya got information on how much WB is tracking TDKR to do...

Gitesh Pandya ‏@giteshpandya
WB tells me they expect $165-170M debut for ‪#TDKR‬. So u know it will be higher. All-time list: http://bit.ly/LmGpEz

Naw I see it fine! You probably stared at it too long and lost perspective. ;)
Thanks

Spent 2+ hours editing a Batman avatar only to notice you couldn't make out crap at avatar size.
still can't that much, but no way was it going to waste.
We have a avatar request thread with very talented people, those might can help you.

TDKR needs less than 29 negative reviews out of 270 to have a 90 RT

currently it has 18, 1 more will be added soon from David Edelstein so basically 9 negatives in the next 130 reviews

I think I just got spoiled on an ESPN message board. I hate life right now

I basically had the whole movie spoiled for me in "this thread" two days ago.

Life does indeed suck.

TDKR interest is off the charts right now

As of July 17th, 3 days before release DKR is at 72 points
3 days before release Spiderman was at 10 points and Avengers was at 19 points. 3 days before release TDKR is at the point where Avengers was on Friday, the DAY of its release.

Don't worry bros! Everybody's favourite reviewer Harry Knowles has finally put up his review!

When the rep asked me for my thoughts immediately after the film, I was at a full head of steam and spouted that I thought it was a fucking waste of $250 million and BATMAN. It’s just such a deflating film.

The guy is such a disconnected manbaby.

Hell no, I got it today and played it at least 3-4 times full way through. I've done that with other movies too. The tracks are generic with no spoilers.

No not really especially considering
most tracks besides Bane's stuff is heavy remixes of Begins & TDK
Yeah I knew no spoilers would come from it, but I just wondered if it was worth waiting to hear it with the film.

So far it's a bit of a letdown, but maybe it gets better.

Dreamt a digital print of the film got leaked, and I saw it on my laptop. It was without a doubt the weirdest film I had ever seen. Villain was Hush, and there was this weird digression where Hush blew up a childrens hospital, and the movie followed a bunch of disfigured kids - documentary style - for over an hour with no talk about Batman what so ever.

Also, it was dark as shit, way beyond Batman Returns. It had a Kill List vibe, with dissonant music always playing, uncomfortably real and personal performances. I woke the fuck up.

Does everyone on that site love putting names/titles in all caps or just him? It's a little thing, but that plus the big bold font make me hate reading any of their stuff. Not a fan of the third-person titles either.

He's just nonsensical sometimes. I wouldn't mind so much if he could write worth a damn. He's incoherent and inconsistent and has no business's being a critic.

I think its great but the movies editing, etc will make it better.
TDK's soundtrack had more of a WOW factor without the movie than Begins but while watching the movie I actually prefer Begins soundtrack.

Isn't he now just be wheeled around on a forklift or wheel barrel or just confined to his bed with a "rag on stick" for washing? I can't even remember the last time I went to that site. I'm still amazed that the site maintains it's same shithouse look and style from the 1990s. Now the Corona Coming Attractions Database or Dark Horizons, those were awesome. So many cool projects I'd follow...that sadly never got made. :(

I found that it does a few tracks in, I can't give numbers as I just played it straight without looking at track names or positions, but the two fire tracks IIRC are good for some reason I did look at those track names.

Knowles is such a condescending bitch, like you don't know shit about Batman if you like this movie.

"If some how you find you love the film and were blown away. I envy you. If you did love the film – if you think this just kicked everything you’ve seen this year away. I beg you, go to a comic shop, buy some BATMAN comics… Order the BATMAN ANIMATED SERIES… Play ARKHAM ASYLUM. Learn more about the character, you’re going to smile so much. This really is in many ways the greatest character in the history of comics – and he’s so much more than what the feature films that Hollywood has given us. DARK KNIGHT is the pinnacle. Somebody, kick its ass… I dare ya."

The worst part is that the above passage makes no sense in any way, shape or form in addition to being patronising.

Said the man with the Superman avatar :P just kidding.

Yeah i agree also make sure to play Arkham City.
