No, that wasn't it. I heard something about the creator being a denier of WWII war crimes.

Oh, that. That's slightly off; I'll explain:

Koichi Sugiyama composes the music for Dragon Quest. He's not the creator of DQ. That's Yuji Horii, who has never had anything like that said about him, probably because he's smart enough not to let his politics (whatever they are) intrude upon the business.

Koichi Sugiyama is a Japanese nationalist. This means that his philosophy is to deny any wrongdoing by the Japanese during WW2, and he's public about it.

So that's a bit of a dilemma: DQ has an apparently decent guy at the head, but a major part of it is done by a horrible person. Does Horii's decentness counter the musician's horribleness?

In any case, it's not quite the same as this Chick situation since the leader is quite proud of their bigotry.

Maybe it has to do with your experience with their quality in food and service? Also that maybe because they're not just some public chain that a la a McDonalds?
Well, with regard to the positives the provide, aye to those; It's always been very pleasant, as well as a very consistent experience in different locations across the country (something I can't say for some chains at all), and they a variety of really tasty sauces you can't get anywhere else, yummy lemonade, and unique fries that are a guilty pleasure.

Most important to me they actually provide decent options for someone attempting to eat relatively well on a regular basis. Their Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich has 290 calories and 4g of fat (and it's freaking delicious), numbers that are basically unheard of in fast food (the best Chicken Sandwich option on McD's menu is 350 cals and 9g of fat).

But really there's more too it than liking them a lot. For example, if Nintendo, as previously mentioned, were to come out with clearly anti-gay contributions and stances, I would have no problem boycotting them even though I love their games and have given them way more of my money over the years than I have to Chik-Fil-A. And an even more extreme example would be Google. If they were overtly anti-gay, I'd have to restructure my entire life in no uncertain terms to completely avoid their products; I'd also do so willingly and without hesitation. That would be way, way more of an inconvenience to me than giving up Chik-Fil-A...

Brain why you so confusing

Well, it was good enough for me with Shadow Complex, I figured that was several times more so. Literature does remain the better comparison.

Consider me someone who will never give them my money. People who do, consider that every time you eat their food you're putting your money towards bigotry. Stop making excuses for yourselves.

:lol yeah that was the best I've got... you and your brain and go work the rest of that stuff out. Too much for me :P

It's probably best to think of it as a difference when the bigotry comes from the leader of an organization versus a singular member who isn't in charge of policy.

I dont care if some dude who makes music for Japanese video games denies WWII crimes.

Thanks for letting everyone know how much you don't care.

This is a great post and everyone condemning people for continuing to eat at Chikfila should read it.

I don't go often, but I love it as a treat every now and then, I will continue to eat there.
But, that's not even insightful. The difference between this and many other bad organizations is that you are aware of the issue at this moment and you can easily stop supporting them. You are consciously choosing to support this bad company when you have the ability to stop without it affecting your life in any big way. Choosing to not buy clothes or electronics made in poor countries is a lot fucking harder than choosing to not eat a sandwich from a certain restaurant. I'm not saying these other things are equal issues, but you shouldn't just support all bad companies because we all end up supporting some anyways.

I don't understand why they don't provide a quote that includes "guilty as charged." Is this an example of the NYDN simply using that saying based off his other answer? Or did the guy from CEO actually respond with that quote? It seems very misleading to use quotes around that phrase.

Either way, Chick-Fil-A is the undisputed king of both the chicken sandwich and the fries game.. so I don't see myself changing my eating habits regardless.

Your daily money funds wars. Stop making excuses for yourself.

Fallacious argument, and was already made by some troll on the first page. You can't escape taxes or the American government. You DO have methods, however, of affecting those, such as voting or social pressures. They're not much, but they're something. And not eating some fried chicken is not much either, but it's something.

And no, moving to another country is not the same as not eating at a fast food place.

One requires you to give up your employment, social network, and entire life.

One means not walking 20 feet.

Consider me someone who will never give them my money. People who do, consider that every time you eat their food you're putting your money towards bigotry. Stop making excuses for yourselves.

How about if I just steal food from them? Is there some sort of gray loophole there or am I still a horrible monster?

I just got a $25 gift card for them too...

I'm not paying them to support gay rights. I'm paying them to give me chicken. Whatever they do with that profit is their business, as far as I'm concerned.

Brutal honesty is a trait rarely shown nowadays, I can at least respect that. I would rather them be straight-up than pull the usual bullshit, pitter-patter, tactics most people/companies use. In other words, I would sooner trust a man of one extreme than a sea of people in the grey.

lol at them facebook comments

"Why do supporters of homosexuals show their support with so much "HATE"...with a side order of Intolerance?"

"Thank-you for standing firm in Christ. As long as you do you have a lifelong customer right here. Your food is great :D"

"Thanks for not buckling like Oreos and putting up an ad with a rainbow colored chicken sandwich. Makes my heart proud. You GAINED this customer and his family, because we never frequented you before now."

"Amen for making a stand! Now hopefully the lines will be smaller to place my order :-)"

"Your reward will be great in heaven for standing up for what is right! God has truly blessed this company and will continue."

I would like to try it once to see what the hype was about (and probably not again after that). Honestly, if I had to boycott companies based on morality I might as well be homeless. My damn bank made slave trading money.

It lives up to and surpasses the hype. Flawless every time. Get the diet lemonade -- you'd barely notice it was a calorie free drink.

Try the buffalo sauce and/or the BBQ sauce. Both add a nice touch to the chicken. Get it without any sauces initially though.

so, you just don't care where your money goes.

what does not eating at chick-fil-a have to do with their scholarships? it boycotting affects them so much that they have to cut scholarships rather than anti-gay donations, then there is a serious problem with this company.

Not that I don't care, it's that I don't know. No one does. Let's stop acting like it's a direct donation by assuming that 100% of your cash goes to funding an anti-gay charity.

I'm not paying them to support gay rights. I'm paying them to give me chicken. Whatever they do with that profit is their business, as far as I'm concerned.

And yet they give to causes that discriminate. This is the kind of rationalization that keeps gays from retaining rights.

"I just buy chicken there, I'm not a bad person, they're a private company."

They're a bigoted company and you're assisting them and anti-gay groups.

So less students should get scholarships?

Oh please. Keep using this to rationalize your purchase towards anti-gay movements and see how far it gets with me.

They donated $2 million to Prop 8. Where do you think that money came from? Jesus' private bank?

So much self righteousness. I think I'll swing by chik-fil-a tonight in your honor.

How is that self-righteousness? You give money to a company that donates towards anti-gay movements, then you're indirectly supporting anti-gay movements. It's not rocket science.
