lol was a
reason know for the face...lol

No clue, saw it in a photo topic on SHH. I can't decide if it's some tricky person altering the photo, or was set up, or perhaps something happened and everyone looking that direction reacted at the same time/same way, while Marion is off in Crazy Beautiful Land.

Quick question, why did people complain that they changed Kingpin from a white guy to a black guy in the Daredevil movie but no one is saying anything about changing Bane from a hispanic guy to a... british(?) guy?

Or did only people in my circle of friends complain about Kingpins race change (not even bringing the rest of that movie's quality into discussion)?

I honestly never saw much complaints about the casting of Kingpin, at least nothing compared to the hooplah when Idris Elba was cast as Heimdall, or DC Animation chose John Stewart as the GL representative in Justice League, or when Marvel made the new Ultimate Spider-Man a minority, or when CJ was revealed as the main character of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, or when Hunger Games readers saw that their favorite characters in the books were black and were cast accordingly, or when Eddie Murphy was cast as the Riddler in Christopher Nolan's "The Caped Crusader".

I'm not a comic expert, but Kingpin is a pretty iconic character isn't he? It's also a much more drastic change.

I would love to see this opening weekend but I can't do it. Every time I have gone opening weekend everyone is just obnoxious the entire time. Some people may get into crowd participation but it just drives me up the wall when I am trying to get into a movie I haven't seen yet. I will let it die down for a month before I go. Now the real fun of avoiding spoilers.

Yeah, I guess those are some more well known examples.

BB was last night. TDK is tonight. Then tomorrow it's off to wait in line for 4 hours before the 2:20 showing at Lincoln Square imax.

My hype has been all over the place the past few weeks. Feeling a bit subdued at the moment, but I'm sure that will change tomorrow. It almost feels surreal that this movie is finally coming out.

So I don't see it for another day and a half (Sat at 2pm) but to those who will see it tonight and tomorrow...congrats and good bye.

Following these movies the past 8 years has been a joy and while I can't wait to see the movie, GAF won't be the same without BatGaf. Hopefully WB is smart with whoever they pick next and we can start over again. Hopefully the journey is even better. But that is in too much doubt.

Thanks to everyone who has made these threads amazing. See you on the other side...or Nolan's next movie.

RISE

LA Area:

Yesterday: 514 midnight screenings - 163 of them have sold out

Today up till now: 526 midnight screenings - 220 of them have sold out

Review
- I think if you really want to enjoy it, reign in the hypetrain. felt like the Nintendo E3 conference
- kept wanting to say dream a little bigger Nolan
- BB > TDK >>> TDKR

Posting in the OT threads was so much fun - thanks to Solo/DMczaf who run a great ship, looking forward to some SunhiEpic TDKR gifs

Thankfully I'm going to a theater that sells beer and allows drinks during the showing. Hopefully being drunk will help me get through this 3-hour flop.

Sort of, I would say Bane is much more well known and iconic than Kingpin (every knows that Bane broke Batman's back, whereas there aren't really any well known or iconic Kingpin stories). And Bane's original design (obviously not the one used in the movie) has more of a luchadore mask, so his race/culture is more ingrained into the character than Kingpin's (from what I know).

Fours early? WTF now I gotta get there 4 hours early too?

God damn you.

What's up with you crazy Americans not having reserved seating? Such a thing would cause mild disapproval in the UK

I'm seeing it at 14.30 tomorrow and might turn up at around 14.30.

Going to lincoln square tomorrow night, anyone in NYC how long before should I show up to get a back row seat? 2 hours?

If its just you or a friend or two, 2 hours early might be fine. Even then on opening Fri night for TDKR? I would say 3 hours and even then risking it.

And def at least 4-5 hours early if you are going with a big group.

Then again the very last row in the back isn't the only great seat. As long as you are in the middle of a row near the back you should have great seats.

I think it's because it results in less tickets sold. People might be more inclined to get a bad seat if they didn't know ahead of time. How does that aspect work in the UK?

It is to make sure they get sell outs. If we had assigned seating, no one would buy the tickets remaining for the front rows. Then studios wouldn't be able to market "SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE"!

Four hours is probably overkill, but you can never be too sure! I'll post an update and let you know the line situation.

Well I am going with a large group (15) and some of the members live right by the theater and will try to see what the situation is around 10am. I plan on driving in between 10-11 and depending on parking might be there as late as 11-11:15. Hopefully my group members are there bright and early.

Can't I fast forward tomorrow?

The Dark Knight Marathon begins in a few minutes, my body is ready. See you guys in 9 hours.

Have fun! My brother is catching the marathon in Reading, PA that starts right about now. Told me he wasn't showing up until 30 minutes beforehand. Hopefully he doesn't get total shit seats.

This is it bat-GAF. Heading to class, heading to the theater there after. I may post while I'm there, but if not, it's been a pleasure.

See you on the other side.

I see. Well to tell you the truth I've never booked so far ahead for a Day 1 showing before so I don't have too much experience on that front. I do remember that I booked quite late for TDK and was front row, which was sold out anyway. And in general people get allocated a seat for any showing of any movie no matter how new it is, but people ignore it if the cinema's not full and sit wherever they want.

Before I truly jumped on the hype train here a few weeks ago I didn't even realise being close to the front at IMAX was so scary. Well I'm Row D tomorrow so I might shit the bed.

There's a showing every 20 minutes on Saturday, I don't have to get there that early for a midday showing, right?

Been getting flashbacks to my terrible Harry Potter experiences at midnight where I'd be stuck in the handicap seats and fuck my neck up

When that happens, my line of thinking is, if I arrive to a showing at 4pm and the line is super long, I'll just refund my ticket and wait in line at the next showing. If that one at 4:20 is also too long, just go to the next. Etc etc. It's what I did for the Avengers. Got a prime seat at 7PM on opening day and only waited for like 30 minutes.

my theater has 200 seats, its the only IMAX in town and Harrisburg's population is around 150K

when should I go for the midnight show

2 hours. Population and number of seats are kind of irrelevant for midnight showing. The theater is (probably?) sold out. You just have to go based on how many people you think will actually go early. I'd say 2 to 1 1/2 hours.

6am showing at Westfield Stratford. Remembered it as midnight, was about to drive out and checked the ticket again, turns out it is a 6am showing in the "Xtreme" screen.
