So I'm guessing that every single place you spend money lines up perfectly with your political ideology?

Nope but this one is staring me right in the face so it's not hard to say "As someone who supports gay rights I cannot eat there without being a hypocrite."

But then the supply of tasty chicken would dry up.

Breaking the chain can only happen by passing gay marriage legislation. Gay legislation won't fail on the basis of a million dollar donation from Chik Fil A.

Don't forget the anti-gay groups are also an anti-women group for being against abortion.

Wouldn't Prop 8 suggest otherwise?

Fair enough. But would it be fair to change my statement to, "Do you boycott every place that openly disagrees with your political ideology?" Because if the answer is "Yes", then keep on keepin on fighting Chick-Fil-A. But if "No", then why just Chick-Fil-A and not other places?

Duhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Not many corporations take overt political stances that aren't directly related to their business.

I don't understand why they don't provide a quote that includes "guilty as charged." Is this an example of the NYDN simply using that saying based off his other answer? Or did the guy from CEO actually respond with that quote? It seems very misleading to use quotes around that phrase.

Quoting this since I haven't seen any sort of response. Can anyone confirm that when asked whether they were anti-gay, the executive answered "Guilty as charged."?

Honestly, if the company heads used their own income to support this, I wouldn't care. It's their personal money. I don't agree with what they want to do, but I support their right to say it.

But the fact that the company itself is doing the supporting strikes me as quite different. Now, instead of the profit they make off selling me chicken just going into paychecks, a portion of it goes directly toward funding groups supporting homophobic legislation? That's a step too far.

I mean, really, if each chicken sandwich had a sticker on it proclaiming that 1% of all profits were donated to fight gay marriage, would people still want to eat there? (I have no idea how much is actually donated, but any portion of my purchase going directly towards this kind of thing is enough to get me to boycott)

No. Do you view this as being primarily about political ideology?

Just checking.
Dude it's hard though. That delicious chicken is worth more than gay rights.
Go to KFC...the more business they get the sooner they might bring back the Famous Bowls. Mmmm. Bowls...

Well, obviously.

No, I was asking as a more general question. And for the record, I'm pretty sure I've made it clear numerous time on GAF that I'm in favor of marriage equality.

I wish some of the "don't care, will still eat it" people would post why they don't care at all.

Because I simply don't care. Simple as that. It's not something that I think about nor affects me on day to day basis. I have my own qualms in life that I feel need addressing, that do directly affect me that could use that kind of attention that even I fail to give it. I'm not a bigot or anything of that nature. I'm for everything but I am selfish in the sense that I will only fight for what is a detriment to my race, lifestyle, cause... or whatever. I'm not going to sugarcoat this post. Dislike or judge me for whatever reason this post may prompt. I'm cool with it. I want to be as honest as possible.

This situation is minor from my perspective. It just has nothing to do with me. Ok, I'm part of the problem, sure. But fuck it. I've got my own shit to deal with then to debate where or where not to shop, eat, sleep, etc. But keep fighting the good fight.

That's fine. I wasn't trying to imply anything about your views on marriage equality, it just sounded odd.

What if instead of anti-gay groups they gave money to anti-white men groups.

Would that be enough to boycott?

nice avatar.

re: "adam & eve, not adam & steve"
-i think i was watching some standup where this guy responded, "well adam and eve were never married. and eve was a whore" or something along those lines. it was slightly funnier when i watched it and fully remembered the joke :(

but yeah, i dont really eat chick fil a anymore
because there are tasier options nearby.

One nice thing about these sort of revelations is that people's true colors are revealed and it becomes easy to see which people (both within the company and in Chik's fan base) are completely awful and morally bankrupt in every way.

Haha. You ever cook your own chicken? The stuff at chic-fil-a is a greasy mess. And I think they inject sugar into it. It is so sickeningly sweet.

Which is why you should go to KFC instead...and get one of these: (when KFC brings them back)

As I white man, I'd eat there every day.
Actually, the best way to combat this isn't a boycott. Just have all the people eat there all the time. And make it known. "Chick-Fil-A is the new gay hangout!' Give them that reputation. It would be awesome.

That means even more money going towards Anti-Gay causes. No thanks.

They have actually said they don't care if they serve straight or gay customers (Asians seem to be a different story) so no this isn't the way to combat their stance on gay marriage.

Is that supposed to look tasty? What is the chicken to breading ratio? 1% chicken and 99% breading?

How would this combat their funding of anti-gay groups?

do people in the us "hangout" at fast food places? serious question (in response to a non-serious post, i know).

I was about to rage when you mentioned KFC, but then you had to go and bring up my one weakness. Curse you...
Heh...so fucking delicious
Is that supposed to look tasty? What is the chicken to breading ratio? 1% chicken and 99% breading?
WRONG. 90% chicken, 10% breading, 1,000,000,000% Pure Bliss.
Now this right here is worth a boycott of Chick-Fil-A
*Fist bump*
The way everything in that bowl clumps on a fork is not very appetizing imo.
Just try it. You can thank me later.

Chick-fil-a's hiring policies (at least in my area) confuse me.

Each chain is mostly white employees. Young girls or dorky looking guys. Every single time they regurgitate the same "My Pleasure" nonsense.

I can't lie, though - their food is good.

Anecdotal evidence, but me and my friends would go to McDonald's after school sometimes and chill out there for a bit after eating our food.

well, i understand staying a bit after finishing eating. i was thinking more along the lines of a hangout spot, where you go there frequently and don't always get food.

I did, back when it debuted in like 2005. It was good, but the quality of what they put in there seemed to become progressively worse every time I ordered one.

You're in Texas, right? Come to Kentucky...the KFC is better here.

I used to get popcorn chicken at KFC when I was ~13. Eventually it became more breading and less chicken. Got super gross. Never ever had KFC ever again.

I wouldn't lead ya wrong...give it a whirl next time they are available. Amazing.
