With Avengers I just wanted to see super heros jacking up bad guys, and it delivered that in spades. I was not looking for some deep, emotional connection. I wanted the heroes of my youth doing what they do best: beating bad guys!

But the bad guys were lame, the fights The Avengers had with one another were quite a bit superior. That's probably something that will be fixed with the next one considering we are gonna get a big time bad ass villain in it.

Just got back from my LIEMAX Trilogy.

First off, watching all 3 back to back was fucking awesome. It really is one of the best trilogies ever. All 3 movies are awesome and unique in their own way. I don't think Nolan ever wanted to outdo any of the movies. He just simply wanted to make 3 damn good Batman movies and he did. So with that said i'm not going to do a silly comparison. I love all 3 for what they are.

Now for impressions on first viewing. I loved it. But holy shit Bane's voice is inaudible. Loved his accent and it really sounded menacing but it was pretty bad. And i honestly think Batman's voice actually got worse then TDK. BUT it sorta fits the movie, sorta... That's really my only gripe with the movie. Did not feel 2hr45 at all which is good.

For me this is Nolan making a movie based on "Arkham Asylum/City". Fan service galore. Great mix of realism and comic book action.

Alfred - Great acting in this one. Can't go into any more detail without spoiling, but he was written better in BB and TDK.
Gordon - Hands down his best performance. Reminded me a lot of the bad ass Gordon from BTAS.
Catwoman - She was cool. If you loved Catwoman in Arkham City. Then you'll love this one too.
Bane - The voice fucking hurt a lot! But he was a badass. Of course he doesn't come close to Heath in terms of acting, But he played the role well.

Will watch it in real IMAX tomorrow. =)

I will agree with that. But the fact that the villains in Avengers were cannon fodder didn't hurt it for me. It was still super heroes jacking up bad guys. They just happened to do it with no effort, which made them even cooler.

Oh, and Hulk smashing Loki is still the best theater going moment I have had in years. The audience screaming and clapping at it at both showings I went to were priceless.

I feel like it's a lost cause to judge any of the 3 films on their own. It's an entire body of work, appreciate it as that rather than staking them up against one another.

Take Joker out of Dark Knight and there is nothing special about it. It cuts both ways.

As much as I loved Loki, Joker takes the movie to a whole other level though.

I must admit I was a bit unfair by not mentioning Bruce Banner/Hulk. Mark Ruffalo was every bit as good as Tom Hiddleston.

Loki as good a villain as Joker? What on earth .. Loki didn't make Avengers, it was purely Stark & Banner show.

Also Loki in Thor > Loki in Avengers

Why are folk even comparing TDKR and Avengers? Even without having seen the former, I can tell they are very different movies. I mean, I get that they are this year's big blockbusters, but I don't know...

Don't mind me. Carry on folk.

Just got back.
Begins & TDK are probably technically the better films,
walking out of the theater though I had most enjoyment from this.
also upped my appreciation of Begins in some ways.

TDKR>Begins>>TDK

Batgrowl was only really bad in one scene.

This is how I felt about TDKR:
sigh, sigh sigh, RISE, sigh, sigh sigh, sighhhhh.

(no spoilers, just for those who want 100% fresh experience)

No you're right, just some guy posted asking the question but it needn't be asked really. Might as well compare TDKR with any old movie like Prometheus

Woke up at 4:30am for a 5:30am screening and I can say it was worth the early wake up call. Love, love, love.

I can safely say that in my book: TDKR > TDK > BB.

Nolan am God. *bows*

I really really enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty good until the last 5 minutes which just elevated it up to great and left me with a weird sort of zen-like contentment with the trilogy overall.

No, it's not as good as TDK but it is an incredibly fitting conclusion. There are some obvious issues with the script structurally speaking which make the first act seem really rushed but I really didn't care by the end.

I will definitely be seeing it again in IMAX when I'm able.

Man pretty much summed it up perfectly! Was just so satisfied when it ended. Really happy, what an epic trilogy.

Also I just saw this:

So tired but I'll lay it out and say this was just, so so weird. This was Nolan's most personal film. The Howard Hughes biopic, the Blade Runner influences, meta commentary throughout on his struggles with even making this film, a deconstruction of what a comic book movie should be about. So many intentionally off putting things that i am surprised the audience was game for. He really bet a lot on this movie, so many risks . It's really his first sequel. So many pay offs and loose ends tied I never expected. So many nods to outside Batman influences. He broke a lot of his own rules. Really, he straight up lied about things he said he would never do and the movie was all the more crazy good for it. Just stunned. I can see where some people who liked BB who find the middle part boring or those who liked TDK would think the film is just so out there & too off putting and untraditional to sit alongside TDK but... If you really love these things wholly and get what they're about, you should just be blown away by this whole thing. I'm just stunned at how not what I expected it was. Then again I kind of felt the same about TDK when that came out. You could say this is a mix of BB and TDK , but that description does a disservice to all the other things in the mix here. The scope was so out there. All I can say beyond that is that it was all so so very weird and I am surprised the reviews weren't more divisive. People really love this stuff and they should. It's pretty much the best one, by a hair.

My fucking man. Ever since we pondered the existence of a masturbating Sean Penn Batman I've had a little boner for you. Thanks for summing up my thoughts better than I have.

Yeah man. It's like ppl asking a parent which child they love the most.

You don't do that!!

Excellent.

Underwhelming. Not worth waking up at 5am for, that's for sure. I suppose it was never going to live up to the hype. It's definitely the worst of the trilogy, for me at least.

To I get a Tom Hulce from Amadeus laughing (if I liked the movie) or misserable alcoholic (if I hated it) gif too, Sunhi?

Don't worry, I'll probably end up watching this a month from now, when all dat hype dies down, anyway...

I still can't enjoy BB. I find it boring and "meaningless", and i don't even like Bale as Batman. It's an average movie for me, maybe i must see it again. TDK was so much better, thanks to the Joker... can't wait to see Rises :)

Whoa. I think it is the >>>>TDK part that shocks me. I expected only one >
Last third of TDK is painful (ferries) and the Nolanisms are at their worst.

This movie felt much closer to Begins in terms of narrative cohesion and consistency.

The sequel we deserved.

I have a feeling that the people who really ended up disliking TDK, liked it more than TDK.

So a TDK > BB bro like me, would probably like it lesser?

There are similarities from both movies. It just depends on what you liked from TDK vs what you didn't like in BB.

Everyone is going to have their own rankings on the trilogy IMO.

I want to read the impressions, they all sound so interesting (negatives, especially).

Just no spoilers, i dont get to see this shit for a MONTH. FUCK.

Dubai, U.A.E man.

It is Ramadan (religious month), so out of respect they delay big movies till the end of the month till Eid (islamic "christmas").

Unfortunately, I'm not travelling outside this month either, so just gotta wait. :(((
