I got all old trailers that basically gave away the whole story - Bourne, the Denzel Plane movie, couple other groan worthy ones. Basically felt like I had to sit through several whole movies to get to this one. Only Man of Steel was new. Theaters are getting pretty weak about showing new trailers around here.

But it isn't. This is three completely separate films that just happen to carry over characters and arcs. But they were all planned and executed as individual entities. This wasn't one of these ones where they come out of the gate saying they have a trilogy planned.

So it only makes sense to view them not as a body of work, but as three distinct entities.

I agree but think its impossible for people to do. TDK especially is so fresh in people's mind, especially the Joker, that even critics can't get that out of the way to judge this film on its own.

I have t minus 29 hours to go but I must admit the horrific news about what happened in CO has completely dampened my enthusiasm. I know I will be up for it again tomorrow and love it but right now I am just contemplating what why how and obviously have no answers. Its just so incredibly sad.

My Hype to see this movie has been hampered for two reasons: the fact that Nolan defended nasty comments and death threats to critics with a simple 'they're passionate' BS and now this Aurora business. What the fuck is weong with people?

when did Nolan himself defend the nasty comments?

Did you watch in IMAX?

I have truMAX tickets for tomorrow and I would love some trailers attached to it.

Any confirmation of trailers in front of the IMAX shows?

imax showings

:) shame I have to watch this shit in regular 2d... :/ I just called my theater too, and they said it has like 20 minutes of trailers. lol Guess I'll just do what I do, I usually wait for like 10 minutes after it starts and then go in, smokin a j in my car in the lot. :Dx

Wait, how do I find out if my cinema is LIEMAX or real IMAX? It had trailers in front and the quality difference wasn't that as perceptible as I remembered watching the Star Trek reboot in another.

Someone has a list around here. The big difference is whether or not your IMAX is projecting in actual 70mm film or using digital projectors. The digital projectors don't project in as high a resolution.

I'm stuck seeing Liemax as the IMAX theater was sold out for the next week. I've actually never been to one. I imagine the screen isn't as big either.

Check the official movie website. They have a list by country and state (in the US)

I dont think he was defending death threats, just the number of people who reacted who the negative, more than 900 comments in 3 hours which was a record. this is what he was defending not death threats.

He's basically saying you can't blame people for defending something they are passionate about.

Got out not too long ago and I enjoyed it.

Definitely a different animal than Avengers as it was more of a personable comic book story, but I did get the closure as far as Bruce was concerned.

Still need to to collect my thoughts, but it's the second best comic movie for me of this summer.

I'm just sayin' ducky, I will always refer to them as BB, TDK, and TDKR, and not as the Batman Trilogy or whatever.

Oh I agree. I see the movies on a whole as "Nolan's Batman film universe", but each movie is definitely individual. It's not a planned trilogy, and it just happened to end with 3 films. If they wanted it could have been 4 movies or 5 movies, or even just 2 movies.

I don't know. Batman Begins is about... Batman beginning. TDKR is, without spoiling anything, very 'final'. Characters get larger closure. TDK was about the reaction to the action that was the events of the first movie.

It wasn't planned as a trilogy, and every movie was designed with only vague ideas about how another might proceed it, but if you look at them as a collective they're certainly a unit, of sorts. Trilogy is a fine label.

Well, damnit. That was a LIEMAX. My friend watching in IMAX for the first time wasn't impressed with the quality and I wasn't sure if I was just imagining things.

Did you see a noticeable switch during points in the film between what would have been shot in IMAX and what would have been regular film?

So agreed. TDKR makes the whole series so much more cohesive.

I got bored about halfway through the film last night.

Saw it in IMAX, by the way.

I felt like it was twice as long as it should have been. It was just all sorts of too much and not enough at the same time, and it lost my interest halfway through.

An odd request, but can ducky or some other mod please consider this:

The title of the spoiler thread is tooo similar to this. I almost accidently clicked that twice (same length title, and both these threads are alternating to the top of the list in OT).

Can that thread be put in the community forum, for at least a while or have its title modified so that it doesnt resemble this one? I'm trying to avoid OT and use my subscriptions to enter this thread, but I want to read other stuff in OT too.

Pls.

I don't really see much of a resemblance though. one clearly says no spoilers and |OT|, and the other clearly says unmarked spoilers thread.

people need to stop Xing out of the tab... I leave this thread tabbed I do all the threads I usually post in regularly like that.... just never tab out and you won't click the other thread.

One thing the mixed reactions have done for me has kept my expectations in check.

Going into TDK I was expecting an 11/10 movie and felt it was closer to 8.5 to 9/10.

I like how no one read my post where I clearly say I access through subscriptions. :/

I'm still not seeing the problem, it doesn't cut off the thread name that badly on the subscriptions page, you can still clearly se OT and legend ends, no spoilers. I'm not sure what's so confusing? Why subscribe to the other when it seems you don't want to enter it.

My friend just posted this on facebook...

HOLY SHIT! That line is long and it is still really early.

Overall though, now that I've slept on, I would give TDKR a B-, with the Avengers being B+ and TDK being A-. If I was a grade-giving kind of guy.

This was my first midnight showing, and it was a great experience. Nobody made any stupid jokes, cell phones weren't going off, no babies, no ADD teens talking to each other during the "boring" parts. They cheered at all the fan service bits and the title at the end. When you see a movie with an enthusiastic crowd like that, all kinds of people coming together to enjoy a film, it's so much better then sitting at matinee mostly alone in silence. All the emotions are heightened and more memorable when more people are involved.

KOG would have hated it, though. And that one guy in here who was scared shitless about going to a movie alone would probably have died. So many people could have saw him!

edit: YAMATO WHERE THE CATWOMAN PICS

I just saw the movie tonight but I'm not going to discuss it here. I'm just curious what is the buzz in the US like? Is everyone saying "you gotta see this movie" like how TDK was or is it mixed or something else?

I felt bad that a crowd of comic book movie fans at the midnight show I was at could barely manage some scattered clapping for the Superman trailer.

Poor Superman, gets a bad rap. And a bad trailer.

Saw this in IMAX (my theater has a true IMAX screen) and yep, it's very obvious where the film switch points were.

The IMAX shots were gorgeous.

In our theater we had.

-The Hobbit Trailer #1
-Taken 2
- The Great Oz

I didn't know there was supposed to be a new hobbit and skyfall trailer :(

14 people were killed/50 injured in Colorado from a shooting at a TDKR midnight showing, so I assume THAT will be the lasting impression about Batman from this weekend.

My crowd was like "OH SHIT" when the DC logo went up, and they put up a pretty good applause for Man of Steel. This was the kind of crowd that claps as soon as The Hobbit trailer music plays, lol.
