My friend just posted this on facebook...

HOLY SHIT! That line is long and it is still really early.

hopefully arriving 30 minutes early to this Miami IMAX showing will be sufficient.

I just saw the movie tonight but I'm not going to discuss it here. I'm just curious what is the buzz in the US like? Is everyone saying "you gotta see this movie" like how TDK was or is it mixed or something else?
Seems most people are eager for repeat viewings.. My packed theater was extremely positive. Internet is a different story where it seems like 20 percent hated it and another 35 were lukewarm.

Glad to see a general range from positive to glowing in here.

I haven't seen it yet (tickets for tonight in Imax), but the shooting really did put a damper on what should have been an incredible day.

The crushing waves of tragedy seem intent on following this franchise wherever it chooses to go.

If you want a completely clear head going in, dont listen. They dont give away a lot but there are some bits in the review that are spoilery

Ill be honest i know a decent bit but nothing about the ending or last third, if they dont broach that then id love to give it a listen, thanks for the reply :D

I will say, the trilogy works out so Begins is the Bruce Wayne AND Batman film, TDK is the pure Batman film and TDKR is the pure Wayne story. Didn't expect it to shake out so definitively for me like that.

TDK is a pure Batman film? Batman felt like a secondary character in that film. It was the Harvey Dent film if anything.

With the tragedy in CO and the fact I am working a 12 hour shift today, it seems like the slowest day ever.

Hype and anticipation is slowly returning and the mini at home BB/TDK marathon tonight will help.

Lol, shit.

So I got here an an hour and half early for the first liemax showing, but they are doing a test run or something.

There's 2 people in there watching it in the middle somewhere.

I bet they got here earlier than me and thought..." let's see it two times in a row for free!

Now I'm sitting in a little lounge across from the screen waiting to see how many people go in and dipping my head in and out to see if it's over.

This sucks ass. This chair is hard.

I'm also alone so I look dumb as hell.

You may look at it different from me, but I feel it was Wayne on the back burner. There's no threat to his legacy really at all. It's all about him trying to control Batman, fulfill his desire and complete his mission of leaving Gotham in good hands and ultimately how he fails at it, having to ruin the symbol he worked so hard to build, leaving Bruce deeply unfulfilled. Batman 's much more involved in the film and informs a lot of Bruce' s actions. When he exhausts all of the Batman he has in him in TDK, it sets the stage perfectly for this movie.

I have been thinking about the reviews and whilst some may think they are slightly less impressive than The Dark Knights reviews, when thinking about it they are more impressive.

Currently it has a score of 80 on Metacritic and 86% on Rotten Tomatoes but with an average rating of 8/10. Compared to The Dark Knight which achieved 94% and an average rating of 8.4/10, and on Metacritic a score of 82.

However, the film had the pressure of living up to the success of the second movie, as well as the inevitable problem of some critics preferring the second movie. Something else worth considering is the fact that much of the praise for the second movie was attributable to Heath Ledgers performance, and for this movie to come only 2 points lower on Metacritic without the performance Ledger gave makes me think this movie could quite easily be best one of the trilogy.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Was there even one single line in TDK where Bruce says anything about trying to control his alter ego? What do you mean by he exhausts all the Batman he has in him? He IS Batman!

I constantly feel like people have been reading way too much into Nolan's Batman films than they should be.

In terms of trailers I got for my showing, going back to what was talked about earlier in the thread, was the Will Ferrell politician movie and Man of Steel. I also got something else inbetween both, but I can't mind what it was.

MoS teaser was less than what I was expecting, but still intriguing enough. Ferrell thing was very funny too.

Or you could make up your own opinion except basing it on review scores?

Don't worry, bro. I get it and agree.

Bruce Wayne was entirely absent from TDK, instead allowing Batman to be completely present in exploring his function in Gotham.

Yes I am not basing my opinion off reviews, but you would be naive to not think a lot of the praise The Dark Knight received was due to Heath Ledgers performance, all I am trying to say is that despite on the surface it may appear that the movie falls slightly short of the second movie, it is in fact a lot more impressive that they have pretty much matched the response, and is a testament to Chris Nolan as an awesome director lol

I meant to say Batman was controlling him (sorry, typing on my phone today) , with him doing the voice when plainly talking to Lucius and things like that. As for the other bit, it will make sense once you've seen TDKR.

I can't find my damn ticket =( and I don't have a printer so I have to go to the library to reprint it ugh.

Could you ask them to print it at the theater if you have valid ID/Credit Card?

Oddly enough, I tried this recently and they woman at the Box Office was hesitant because her computer reported that I had already printed the ticket. She thought I was getting doubles, which is stupid when you consider the fact that the tickets are scanned and the seats numbers are reserved.

Maybe but I don't want to risk it, I hate being the guy who's holding up the line too. I haven't been to a library in years and have never used their printers before now hopefully you can just go in and do it and not have to do any sort of waiting line bs.

I saw this at midnight last night in true Imax. Holy crap, GAF. I loved it. I need some time for it to settle in but I think it may be the best in the trilogy (I loved TDK, I'm pretty much a Joker fanboy.) Rises just did so many things right and I absolutely loved the ending.

I can't wait to see it again!

On a side note, my theater had trailers for Man of Steel, New Hobbit and Skyfall.

Sorry GAF, I didn't think spoiler tags were frowned upon. I removed them.
Much obliged, the other thread is moving at a swift pace now, this one is slowing down, that wait for Monday is going to seem like a lifetime :[

Damn still debating whether to go tonight AND tomorrow, so see it alone tonight and tomorrow with family.

I wanna see it blazed up tho but I would like to see it my first time with other ppl I know too but....

Damnit

I would see it free tomorrow but still
