I was supposed to go with a group of 4 in the afternoon today. The other three cancelled because of the shooting. Ugh.

I was going to ask this but didn't want everyone to jump down my throat...it sounds like a lot of people might be passing on this movie for a bit. It's kind of like when airports were empty right after 9/11. The chances of another shooting are so slim...
Yeah once I see the movie (tom afternoon) I will post there but I will post my immediate reaction and not read up the thread first.
I know how Inception went from one of the best movies of the year to downright garbage by the time the nitpicking was done. Don't even want to imagine what is going on in there.

Going to this Sunday, then in IMAX 3D next week. How is the 3D? Never been to an IMAX 3D movie.

Exactly. They might go later on, which may keep a consistent stay of TDKR at number one for awhile, but I know plenty of people who probably will just pass on the film as a whole as it's not worth the (very extremely slim) possibility there will be another shooting. WB is definitely taking a hit box office wise from this whole debacle, but I hope they have the humanity to at least acknowledge the shooting and off their condolences before worrying about their money.

I can't believe that Nolan finally made a film I'm not really crazy about and that it had to be the final movie in one of my favorite trilogies ever.
TDKR was soo unbelievably boring. One thing Nolan does better than almost anyone is the setup. Laying down a bunch of different threads that will all culminate into something your not expecting. Unfortunately the setup that you have to endure to get to the "Prestige" is completely bloated and uninteresting. Its a shame to because the characters that Nolan has created in the Batman universe are fantastic. I love Michael Caine and Christian Bales relationship. It is probably the one really great thing about the movie and it always managed to pull me back in.
I know Nolan has never been spectacular at action but I have felt he has always had moments in the films where that is overcome because of how cool the overall concept is. TDK had loads of them and I can't honestly think of one time during all of Rises that I was impressed by anything like I was Inception or TDK. Which is really really disappointing.
What a letdown.

Now NYPD is going to be security at theaters -_-. Whatever as long as they don't waste any time patting anyone down. Hopefully it's just for show and they go away after a couple weeks. Nobody wants stupid metal detectors and pat downs at fucking movie theaters, not that we'd be asked our opinion anyway they'll just do it on their own. Can't wait until security checkpoints on lines at six flags.

I don't understand how anyone who even kind of liked the first two didn't leave the theater know they saw something so special. My mind can not get around that.

I'm at the Empire 25 in Times Square right now. No cops, nobody checked my bags. Then again, the theater is half empty, this may change for the nitetime showings.

This is so funny I was just thinking about this movie randomly. Wasn't this supposed to come out this summer? Did it get delayed or pushed back?

Don't think they gave a reason. I think it needed more FVX work, also they didn't really need it this summer (or year) as they already have a number of blockbusters, including TDKR of course. Also, it might be terrible and March is a safer date instead of prime summer slot. Same thing happened with GI Joe 2 after terrible test screening reactions.

Sadly I think thats a excellent way to sum it up. Lots of great homage and fan-service on top of a extremely clumsy foundation.
I still can't get over how terrible the action is in the movie.

Saw it at midnight. After sleeping on it, all I can think of is "meh". It's the worst of the three. I'm not saying its a bad movie or even as bad as any other third comic book films, but it was kind of a letdown. Maybe because I had just watched the Dark Knight a few hours earlier but nothing gave me that feeling of being blown away like TDK did. If I went into it anymore I'd get into spoiler territory so ill leave it there. Also, I'm kind of suprised at the lowballing of the midnight numbers. It was easily the most packed I've seen my theater for midnight.

Seeing it tonight. I was going to wait until tomorrow but I figured the only way to safely navigate the internet this weekend was just to go see the movie.
I'm gonna take a wild card and say 7/10, almost on par with BB, better than TDK.
You better believe it will change. I went there for Dark Knight and the line was around the block >.>.

I think the way people have decided this movie needs to be better than TDK for it not to be a disappointment shouldn't be the way to go about it. Well I don't know if anyone else was doing that, but I know I was... then I saw this. I was worried because of all the criticism from people who saw it early on here about undeveloped character this and leaps of logic that. But if I hadn't read all of that, I wouldn't have noticed any of it in the movie (as just an average filmgoer).
First of all, people say they're disappointed that Bane is not as good as the Joker, but I don't even care. That was another part that does not need to be repeated, one piece of the bigger story. And Bane is plenty sinister and menacing by himself to serve as a good villain in my opinion. And again, he's just one character that helps tell the story of Gotham in these three movies.
Secondly, people complain about the action. I thought it was actually excellent but hey I'm no action/directing aficionado, I just know I enjoyed the hell out of watching it. I enjoyed all the action in the other two movies too, though I think the best action scene is probably in this one.
What's most important is that the film rounds off the story in a meaningful way, and fuck yes does it do that. I don't even know how I rank it compared to the other two. I just know that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in quality compared to the other two, and there will be valid reasons for people to call any of them their favourite down the line. Everyone will have a slightly different opinion, but I just think this is another worthy addition to the series and that's the crucial part.
As I sit here and type this now, I think it might be my favourite of the whole trilogy. It might also be my least favourite. But the point is the trilogy ended brilliantly and exactly as it should, with a hell of a lot of surprises along the way. If it is your least favourite, it won't matter too much. I think this needs to be viewed as part of (in my opinion) the best trilogy of my admittedly not very long lifetime, and much like Star Wars, it shouldn't bloody matter which one is the best, they're all crucial parts of the big puzzle.
Basically, if GAF has you worried and you're just an average Nolan Batman fan, then don't worry anymore.

Solo is either gonna hate it or love it. I can think of some things he'd love most certainly, but it depends on whether he can excuse some of the other things that affect the film

Even though a 3/5 isn't equivalent to 7/10, if he did a 10 point scale score I would also go with 7/10.

I'm expecting it to be better than a ROTJ in the scheme of this trilogy. My expectations are that it won't as good as The Dark Knight (without Ledger as Joker, how could this hope to top that), but maybe slightly better than Batman Begins. That's good enough for me.

I like in the Dark Knight when Alfred talks about how some people just want to watch the world burn, and in that same conversation he mentions how him and his army buddies burnt down an entire forest to find one ruby thief.

I also made the mistake of watching TDK way to close to this. Really puts a big spotlight on the fact that there is nothing that makes your jaw drop.
