The old rumor and videos of versus turning into ff15 was a student made little film thing.
I don't even know what you're referring to, but what else could it be? Moving to 3DS? :lol

It's been turned into XV, hasn't it?

Well it's all about the individual in the end. For me the trailers atmosphere alone beats FF13 lol. Meaning I enjoyed the atmosphere so much (music, desgin etc) that I would enjoy the game even if the gameplay is crap( which I highly doubt)from Square-Enix, that info is as good as lies.
hint: when a company releases about 3 sentences of facts about a game a year, it does not mean the game is secretly super awesome and development is going well.

So not only that, but we have been told that there will be controlable cars, airships, proper HD towns (who doesn't want to try a Final Fantasy in a realistic modern day style city? for a change?) etc etc
I also read that they only went into full production at the end of last year! So expect some fresh news pretty soon my friend.
Now I understand your not that interested, but I am and many others are. And I don't get why a lot of people enjoy wanting the game to fail (not saying you) that's just weird.
Anyway I'm 90% sure that I will love the game, and I'm willing to make a 1 MILLION virtual dollar bet that the game will be amazing haha.
OK I think I've had enough versus talk until TGS I think.
They can cancel that game all they want for all I care, just release the damn Shimomura tracks. The game had one hell of an incline to climb to escape mediocre, but Shimomura always ascends to heaven.
I think XIII and XIII-2 are weak, but I don't think SE as a whole are crap. Haven't you enjoyed anything from them this generation? TWEWY?I forget what the situation was like around the time this vid came out, but I remember thinking "alright, that's a great start, can't wait to see more" and then nothing happened.
and nothing happened for a long time before that vid either....I mean, with XIII, the company pretty much already told me it's totally pointless to pay attention to their PR cycles. Secret theaters, tight wraps on everything, and then the game ends up being complete shit. So, things like saying there will be a world map in Versus and any details about that game just kind of bounced off of me.
the few tidbits sounded promising for sure
guess we'll see!
It's hard to watch this video for the 32nd time not knowing if I will ever play it.Wow the gameplay parts actually looked decent. Now I'm feeling a little worse that we won't at least see what this game can do, if this is true that is.
Are you sure they didn't already release all the tracks they had?![]()
Maybe

Will both will become FFXV
Everything from the '06 trailer for XIII ended up in the game in one way or another, I'm sure it'll be the same with Versus.what's funny about that comparison is that the real time tech demo has better looking facial hair than the CG lolz. If this thing ever comes out I wonder if anything of what they have shown would actually be in the game.
Best part in the trailer... so fucking good, love the design of the old man (Versus XIII).Maybe

I hope Versus was "canceled" because it has become FFXV. It makes no sense that if the original plan for it to be FFVersusXIII it continues to be part of the XIII universe afte all this type. Sort of like Agito changed its name.
I'm also thinking this, but it's tough to be optimistic considering how much Square has sucked it this gen.I hope Versus was "canceled" because it has become FFXV. No, for a game to require CoD sales, it needs to have cost about seven hundred million dollars. It's hard to estimate what's been spent on Versus so far, almost certainly still under a hundred million, in which case, they'd need three million units (without factoring marketing). Three to four million would be a realistic expectation.Wouldn't the game have to sell gangbusters (like COD level sales) in order to recoup the amount of time and money that was sunk into this game?
I doubt the game could move MW3 type numbers
Not for games that are as long as FFXIII and look as good as FFXIII. Naughty Dog develops a sub-10 hour pipefest in that kind of time-span, you can't seriously think non-sequel-non-asset-recycling RPGs are made in similar time-spans without any compromises?I do not believe you.
You're illogically narrowing the definition of 'content' down to the point it's meaningless. Maybe the majority of the game was made in the last 14 or 15 months (which is also true of practically every game), but in no way was all the content built in that time.
What do you mean you haven't seen anything like that? Have you not seen the city in the game? Did you not see the battles happening outside the city on open fields? Especially the battles on the fields at day-light clearly show similar fields to FFXII, but even bigger and without loading screens. If versus does copy the 12 overworld I'll be very happy, havent seen anything like that though x.x/
How strong were the Fabula connections in Type-0?If the name were changed, it'd just be a name change. Any connections to the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythos would remain intact, just like they did with Agito/Type-0.
I do hope not, XII was dreadful.Versus isn't suffering from the same problems as XIII (well, other than the initial shit with the Crystal Tools), it's just the much bigger & much more ambitious game, so developing it takes more time as well. It'll hopefully be for this generation what FFXII was for PS2 generation (the best FF and perhaps even JRPG of the generation, and a new milestone that JRPGs should try to achieve)

Type-0 still uses the concepts of l'Cie and such, but in a different way than FF13 does.
EDIT: Edited out some spoilery stuff.

Maybe we can get it as a cross-generation title, a la Twilight Princess.

No, it's not speculation. You said you hadn't seen them, I said look closer to the 2011 trailer and you can see big open fields that are just like FFXII's, except even more open than XII's and Nomura has said they are aiming for as few loading screens in the game as possible (so one big field isn't like Giza Plains that's just smaller areas connected to each other via loading screens, but the whole area should be traversable without any loading screens). We've already seen at least two different kinds of fields (one was more barren a desert, the other a more lush field with trees and water and stuff). So this is not like the situation with XIII where that one area on Pulse ended up being the only bigger field in the game. This game will be bigger than that, according to Nomura it's no short amount of time it takes to go from one end of the world to the other..... so speculation... FFX and FFXIII had a big open field. *sigh* The city in the video looked very linear
You mean the best FF since VI. Yes, I agree.I do hope not, XII was dreadful.

As for Versus, I don't think it's taking after XII, they were going for something traditional in it's game progression. Originally, it wasn't going to be to scale, then they decided to have the 'world map' be full size. If anything, I'd imagine it's more inline with DQ8.
I guess we'll have to wait and see, or if this rumour is true, wait and never hear shit about it.
Best FF is the one you enjoy the most, so it's an individual thingYou mean the best FF since VI. Yes, I agree.
I don't agree with that at all. XII is like lots of zones end on end, DQ8 is like any normal Final Fantasy, just not using crazy scale on the overworld. And FFXII is the closest FF to DQ8.
Oh you, I knew you had to be joking. No one could have this kind of an opinion, surely. :lolYou mean the worst since III. Yes, I agree.
Well, originally some "leaked" small screens clearly showed Versus with a more traditional world map. It wasn't quite as miniature as the likes of pre-PS2 FF's world maps, but it was still a miniature one. Then time went by and in an interview Nomura said that they had since changed it and taken influence from Final Fantasy GPIDJÖDSHJ, where the number of the FF had been blurred. Then, the next time we saw Versus (short clips in June or July 2010), we saw glimpses of the desert where you could run & jump anywhere you wanted with a "real-life" scale gas station and such. That screams FFXII to me, as no other FF is like that. Of course, that's FFXII overworld with improvements that the better hardware made possible. As for Versus, I don't think it's taking after XII, they were going for something traditional in it's game progression. XII was meant to be more like DQVIII as well, but they failed to achieve a more streamed world, that's why there are loading screens. Still, it's the scale I'm talking of AND the interconnectivity of the different areas. Versus should have all of that as well.I don't agree with that at all. XII is like lots of zones end on end, DQ8 is like any normal Final Fantasy, just not using crazy scale on the overworld.
Goes against information I was told quite recently, which was that Nomura is hard at work on the game and something of it will be shown at TGS.

And of course city streets are linear. Hard to make them not linear... But you should be able to explore those streets and small side alleys quite freely. IIRC, Nomura has even hinted that you can get to the rooftops to see what secrets wait there (though, I'm not sure if that's a 100% certain thing).
