Well they did mention it early in the movie. There was a project Bruce was keeping secret from even Morgan Freeman himself. It ended up being the super sonar compter friend finder. I agree about the bullet thing though. That shit was non-sense.

Even if we gave him the time factor, shits still nonsense, the general theme is "well he has infinity dollars so just buy into it" and again ill state, i buy into it, i really dont care other than arguing against, what I believe, are false assumptions about tdk. I have not seen the film but i got the impression early alot of negative reviews seemed to be put the film as a contrast to tdk and i thought "what movie did you watch?" (in reference to tdk).

I hate these "had a great final act" comments. I'm just gonna be sitting there for two and a half hours WAITING for the final act. This is exactly what happened in the Two Towers (what a boring fuggin movie that was until the final act).

I dont honestly see how a microwave emitter is any stupider than using everyones cell phone as sonar. TDK is not a great crime drama at all, Batman never outsmarts the joker, we are to believe he created a huge fuck off machine using sonar technology in relatively short amount of time, by himself when we have no evidence of a background that supports it. The only detective work he does is fine in your face clues and mimic a bullet shot ( a scene ive never understood). Now i dont care, its a good film, i suspend my disbelief, but its overselling it to say that Batman really went all detective.

Its more about suspension of disbelief. Something like that sonar is more believeable as tech like that builds on what we use (social media/mobile devices).

Micowave emitters probably exist too, but the way nolan handled it made it stupid. "evapourate all the water" sounds like a comic book villain scheme while "omnipresent survellience" could be something the government could be doing today...

Seriously though, I can't get over how comic booky this was. Gonna make a lot of people love it. Gonna make even more people probably hate it. Like, this was almost as comic booky as the Raimi Spider-Man movies.

Sounds awesome to me.

Does TDKR still looks more like a Michael Mann movie (nice, sunny eather) like TDK or more like a Batman movie (cloudy, rain and mist) like Begins?

Well I think TDK is a more mature, refined, and confident movie than Begins. But I also think it doesn't have the heart of that movie.

no the build into it is what makes the final act so good.

I really enjoyed it myself. I saw BB and TDK for the first time last night and I think DKR is probably the one I liked the most. It was pretty straightforward but well-executed, a couple of cool nods, lots of characters getting in on the action, and just better action in the sense that was it fairly easy to follow. TDK was good but, at times, had too much going on.

They've had whackier plans.

Worth posting here too. Just got sent Christopher Nolan's official statement on the tragedy:

"Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of 'The Dark Knight Rises,' I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community. I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theater is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."

I hope so...or else I'm coming back here to spit red hot fire.

"Damn that was good..."

Not ranking the movies yet, but I WILL rank the scores (having listened to TDKR's now 3 times in a row):

BB >>>> TDK >>>>>>>> TDKR

Man, this score is....... not very good. Almost all the best cues are rearrangements of superior cues from BB (and a few from TDK). The lack of JNH is extremely noticeable and hurts the score drastically. Zimmer's work on Inception was phenomenal, but TDKR's score is phenomenally lacklustre.

None of these movies (haven't seen TDKR yet) really nailed the detective aspect of Batman, which is odd when you consider that Nolan made his name on one of the best detective movies of the last twenty years.

Burton films came the closest to capturing the detective angle. I would to love see more of that in the next series.

It's not really that though.

First act was terrific, second act felt quite uneven (it seemed to drag in places but the buildup was great) and the third act was fantastic.

I think it just depends on how you view it really, as again, I liked the film (especially as time is passing) but it does have its flaws.

Agreed.

I really missed JNH in this.

You're right, there was more detective work done in the Burton movies. When Nolan was first hired coming off two detective movies, I was like, "well we know what his angle is gonna be." But that wasn't really the case at all.

Oh, and the Bale-voice is MUCH better here than in TDK. I only had one instance in the whole movie where it stood out to me in a negative manner (compared to almost every single line he had in TDK).

What did you think of Bane's voice? Give me a scale on the Connery-meter.

Solo is the hero we need.

But not the one you deserve right now. NeoGAF needs its white knight, DM.

See, DM's morals, his "review"... it's a bad joke, dropped at the first sign of trouble. Its only as good as this thread allows it to be. I'll show you. When the servers are down, these uh, these "members", they'll goatse each other. See, I'm not a troll. I'm just ahead of the curve.

Movie was pretty damn good. I didn't like it nearly as much as TDK, but most of that was Ledger.

I think it's BB-quality.

No, no, no. TDKR is just a film lost in the scramble to jerk off fanboys. It can be nit-picked, or ignored. But if you make yourself more than just a fan wank, if you devote yourself to your important characters, and if the studio can't stop you, then it becomes something else entirely. Batman Begins, Elfforkusu. Batman Begins!
