I loved that moment where Catwoman is at the safe, overhears the return of Batman and goes "Well, what do you know?" line with a smile like she's been waiting for this moment.

It's cheesy, but I don't care.

Ok.

But it's like, if Batman started carrying a bow and arrow or something, wouldn't you want to know the reason? What is Selena using those goggles for? Style?

They aren't important questions but no reason they can't be asked.

One is out of character the other is not. Those are night vision goggles, it doesnt need to be explained.

I know you don't understand it either, just calm down and we can figure this out together.

She was probably feeling desperate enough to take matters into her own hands, cracking under the pressure of the situation, but not anticipating that Batman would fire his Batpod guns at her and the driver. Flooding the chamber must have been something she forgot about until her last moment.

I thought she got it hacked, so if anyone tried activating it (lucius) then it would also activate the flooding.

They let him keep the house. Which I imagine is worth a lot... I also imagine he had other investments outside of Wayne Enterprises which he could draw upon.

Finally, as Lucius Fox said they KNEW Bane was the culprit but it would take time to PROVE it and get his fortune back. Just like real life if you can prove fraudulent stock dealings, the trades are reversed.

Do people pay attention to movies anymore?

Yeah, no way Lucius is gonna sit back and let Bruce Wayne die as a lunatic who gambled away all his money.

Does anyone else feel like this third film won't add anything to Batman's mythos? It seems to only take characters/plots and transplant them onto film. Catwoman's headgear being her ears and maybe Bane's mask are the only thing I can see the comic's ever adapting.

The first film established a realism to Batman (the batmobile is probably the best example of this). The second film really perfected the Joker. The third film had some cool cat ears.

Probably Bane's mask will become part of the comics, adapted as some form of venom delivery device.

I can't wait to see this movie a second time. This movie has the best ending, of any series, trilogy or saga I have ever seen. I felt SO BAD for Alfred, to have him see Bruce at the other end of that restaurant... having... Robin rise up like that.

Perfect.

No but he found it suspicious, then asked the deceased's younger brother about it, who said there was an army underground who this dead kid might be working for, and then because he's a good copy put two and two together.

He didn't expect Gordon to be there, he knew it would be an entrance to the sewers, and I guess it was close by?

He just said there was work in the tunnels. He didnt say there was an army. And that connection seems like it was running on audience knowledge.

It only just hit me how much TDKR informs Ras' backstory. Not just about him talking about his great love, but his whole mentality about having the will to act.

Your parents' death was not your fault. It was your fathers'. Anger does not change the fact that your father failed to act!

He's talking about himself. :( Ras failed to act to save his wife and child.

Bane wasn't that badass, he beat a Batman that had a bum knee and that was out of the game for 8 years, not training.

Begins Bats would've wiped the floor with Bane.

One thing I really do not like about this trilogy is that Bruce spends -- what, 2 years as Batman in total? And he's already too old for this shit?

Get outta here!

"'But we are initiated, aren't we?' Oh fucking tits, that's brilliant!"
That's great.

Full circle bitches. That must raise your rating of the film at least 2.5 points

Man Bane sucked. Reading previews and interviews there was a lot said about how just viciously brutal he would be but he was not that. And his voice is even sillier than Batman's. By far the weakest villain in the trilogy imho.

Yeah, I thought that was a nice touch. I felt genuinely bad for Bane during the reveal scene as well.

By far? F*cking kidding me?

Dude whats with this hyperbole reaction people are all about, salty. Like my girl when she's "bloated"

Just got back from the theater. The movie was entertaining, but not as good as BB or TDK. I really disliked the MacGuffin atom bomb; seemed like such lazy writing in order to create a new threat to Gotham.

And I absolutely hated Selina Kyle in this film. Her wannabe-seductive voice reminded me of Envy Adams from Scott Pilgrim, except in this case her lines were read with 100% sincerity. And what's with her being comedy relief? Her jokes fell flat and her one-liners were embarrassing.

At what point did he give up the mantle of batman because he was "too old for this shit"? There were clearly very different reasons for his self-imposed exile. When you're fabricating characters' motivations it shouldn't be a surprise when they don't make sense.

That's great, but it's less the fight choreography than the edit and they way it has been written/directed which is so good. Saying that, you can make or break an action scene in the edit.
True. And Nolan needs a new editor.

That reminds me of something that bugged the hell out of me in the movie. Bane and thugs leave the stock exchange and it is daylight. Maybe early evening tops. But batman shows up as they exit the tunnel and it is already night. Not dusk or anything, but full on night. How long was that chase before bats showed up?

Look again.

The fight choreography is so much more polished and organic than any other fight in the films.

You're right, It also doesn't hurt that the camera pulls back to a wide shot every now and then to give a better sense of where the fight is taking place. A lot of the choreography is staged to take advantage of the edits in the scene, not the other way around, which is an extremely time consuming way of doing things. Was this the first fight scene they shot (probably right since Nolan shoots in consecutive order), so he probably realised how much work it took and resorted to using quick cuts and shaky cam for the rest of the fights (also Bat suit probably restricted things). This is why this fight looks awesome and the rest look like fucking garbage.

Man, Nolan created a lot of toys this time.

From the variant military Tumblers to the Bat, there is a lot for them to merchandise.

Kid #1: "Now that I've broken you, Batman, I will leave you here while I destroy Gotham. HA-HA-HA!"

<climbs Bane figure out the pit>

Kid #2: "I'll get you, Bane but--ouch!--I can't move my back!"

Kid #3: (walking in Prison Wise Man figure) "Maybe I can help!

<spring loaded arm punches Wayne's protruding disc back in>

Kid #2: "Thanks. Now I can get ready for Bane!"

<Close up on Bruce Wayne figure doing pushups>

Kid #2: "I'm coming to take you down Bane!"

"The Pit Prison playset comes with everything you see here. Prison Wise Man with Spine Settin' Punch included. Rapid Push Ups Bruce Wayne and Spine Bustin' Bane figures sold separately."

Just got back, too, and really liked it. I thought everything between the football scene and Bruce's return with Selina and the apple felt super rushed and cheesed up, but the book-ends were fantastic. Also kind of wished they didn't call him Robin at the end...it was obvious enough.

And goddamn, the fights with Bane were fucking awesome.

I really liked Bane, but nothing he was saying seemed hyperbolic to me. In his opinion, Bane was the worst villain. No big deal. You seem a little sensitive to any opions on this movie that don't jive with yours.

Did I miss anything after the credits (like that silly shit they always doing for the marvel movies)?

Superman.

Remember how bad ass Scarecrow was when he got tazered in the face and went out yelling like a BITCH!

No, that's not how film-making works. Most of the movie will have been pre-vised extensively and I get the impression that's how Nolan wanted it. If you listen to the commentaries in BB you'll learn that Nolan wanted the fights to be a flurry, and vague, just like the bad dudes would experience them as Batman struck from the shadows.

The ice sword fight scene is one of the greatest out of the trilogy. I remember I got super excited when I saw them using the Batman gauntlets.

Yeah, should've used Tim Drake
