My reaction when the credits started:

I made a short video with my phone of the audiance and my reaction when the credits started, you can't see much because I could not record the screen or anything because than I would get into trouble with the theater.

holy mother of annoying reaction gifs batman

frankly i found the show to be disappointing it seems to suffer from 2nd sequel comic hero fatality....or Nolan got sloppy.

i am puzzled when they said the last act was the best? it was the worst for me just because of what i said above.
2 > 1 >> 3

bb = tdk > tdkr

avenger was more enjoyable

It was bad.

-Didn't care, or buy some of the relationships.
-Really amateurish shot choices. Many scenes came of as flat or uninteresting as a result. Things like the climax
batman's "death"
had zero impact on me. I just didn't care.
-Amateurish sound design problems. Seriously, the levels were all over the place, sometimes the music just drowned out extremely softly speaking characters. How did this get approved.
-Just a mountain heap of implausible things.
Hundreds of officers surviving underground with infinite food? From Where? Bruce breaking his back and healing in so few months? After being diagnosed with poor joints that can get fixed by one leg brace? And LOL, when did Batman get the time to paint the elaborate trail of flame leading up to a burning bat symbol on a bridge? wtf
-I don't understand how Batman needs to do his bat voice when speaking to people who have ALREADY heard him in his normal voice. It's one of those things that if you think about for even a moment, it's just laugh out loud stupid.
-
WHERES DA TRIGGERRRR WHERRRS DA TRIGRRRRR
Come on.
-Lot's of really terrible dialogue just peppered all over the movie.

I can't believe I'm saying this: TDK > BB > TDKR

The best part of the movie for me was Selina. I expected nothing from Hathaway but was really surprised how well she played her character. On the flip side Bane was not interesting and his voice was painful to hear. I wanted to enjoy this TDKR but the messy plot holds it back. I never felt the full emotional weight of the events on screen. Welp off to the spoiler thread.

I seen it a second time last night after a 5:30am screening earlier in the day. Whilst the second act is definitely weak, it still doesn't doesn't affect how I see the trilogy in my eyes.

TDKR > TDK > BB

And that ending - yeah, Slayer's FG GIF summed it up. :D

That said, and this might come across as a bit hypocritical on my part considering what I state above, but you have to say on their own merits, they are three great movies at the very least.

Nolan am God. *bows*

A little over an hour to go. Line here(Samuel C Johnson IMAX in DC) is getting pretty long. Pre-buying snacks was a good choice.

Can people please post some more overly positive reviews? This last page is like a giant buzzkill :(

9 more hours till I see this on the beautiful Imax screen at the Lockheed Imax theater in the National Mall in DC. Planning to get there around 11 a.m. Being located in the museum gives me the perfect chance to check out ALL of the exhibits before I stand in line for, I assume, hours.

There actually aren't many people who hate it at all. Almost everybody really dig it.

A lot of people talking about the films flaws actually really like it. It's just that on a forum, talking about the problems of a movie is so easily construed as not liking it.

Here's one for you... I saw it yesterday and I'm going again less than 24 hours later. It's a great send off, they couldn't have ended it any more perfectly. People are pointing out these flaws and they are valid flaws, but it's up to you whether you let them get in the way or just get sucked in and enjoy it at face value. Who cares about them? It's fucking awesome. Great action too

Just saw it for the second time, in IMAX this time.
Yesterday I was kind of down on the film and thought it was overly predictable, cheesy and poorly paced.

Today I just kicked back, embraced the comic book cheese/leaps in logic, and just went along for the ride.
The film is very enjoyable on second viewing and some of the emotional scenes had a lot more impact on me second time around.
Its strange, first time around the film seemed to drag in places but this time it went really quickly (maybe I was tired first time?)
I still think it's inferior to TDK but I'd rate it higher than Begins.

Quite frankly a lot of the criticism I'm reading is terrible.

Not only that, it's harming my opinion which I know it shouldn't. But I'm being surrounded by negativity. Might leave the thread for a bit - well I am leaving for a bit cause I'm gonna go see it again.

Went to see it with 10 friends yesterday, 2 of us liked it (I did not). I've never seen so many coincidences in a film. The action, if there even was any, was bad too. And that ending...come on Nolan.
And what the hell at Bane's voice. It's like Tom Hardy tried to go for a drunk Sean Connery impression.

I'll give it an IMDb 6, if that's any reference.

The movie was pretty good, not great, but boy will i be remembering this day for a long time - for reasons completely unrelated to the Dark Knight Rises.

So we went to King of Prussia, which is 2 hours away from my home, so we can see IMAX (which we learned they cut out the fucking previews so as they could fit the movie on the old giant projector stock, wtf?). Ok, we saw the movie, exited at 6:00. Got lost on the way back for a two hour detour, and when we finally found our way back and was only 25 minutes from home some asshole on 81N nudged us and we flew over the divider, into the other side of the highway, spinning, spinning, spinning, narrowly being missed by like six cars on our transit, slammed into the barrier wall on the entire opposite side of the highway. I broke two fingers i am pretty sure because I can't move them at all, it fucking hurts a goddamn lot, and I got a huge gash on my knee. Maybe I'll go to the hospital tomorrow.

The entire back on my car is totaled, the wheel wells all dented in, but I was like "fuck this shit, I'm going home, I'm only 25minutes away." Our car could still drive, barely, it was making all sorts of funky clicking noises. Both lights in the back were broke. And of course, only 1 minute from my front door, a fucking police officer pulls me over and gives me a $150 ticket for broken tail lights.

But yeah, Dark Knight Rises had a lot of problems but it was a fun film. But fuck today.

Thats fucked up I'm sure you won't have to pay that ticket its not your fault the dude hit you in the ass.

tdkr felt like in good company with tf2, sm3, im2, sherlock2, quatam of solace imo.
worst nolan film i watched.

/thinks you mean Sherlock SERIES 2
/Readies ATTACK
/Realises
/Stands down

This all sounds a bit disappointing - I didn't really like DK so maybe I'll be in better company with this film though.

Quantum is a strong criticism but :/

The tf2, sm3, im2 comparison is ridiculous.
its easily better than those 3 combined.

Wait, I take it TF2 is Transformers 2? I assumed it was Team Fortress 2, and didn't really understand why the fuck that was included.

Most people seem to really like the movie, there's just a vocal minority that don't. I left feeling really disappointed but the more I look back, the more scenes I remember really enjoying.
I just think I let certain things annoy me throughout the movie and it hurt my overall enjoyment, people that can look past those flaws will enjoy the movie a lot more.

The spoiler thread has a much nicer back and forth. Some negativity but lots of great articulation about all the great things in the movie.

That TF2 had me thinking "Team Fortress 2" and I was all "-the fuck?!?"

I strongly disagree, though. And lumping Quantum of Solace in with trash like transformers 2 is a serious WTF.

the script is a bit of a mess, and there is way too much exposition, and way too much chronological movement and complex plot stuffed into the already expansive length of the film.

the first two movies were much better. this should have been reduced in scope by like 60 or 70%. there is no way to capture the social dynamic they wanted to in this movie, and the whole endeavor suffers.

yes tdkr is better than those shows but i left the cinema with the same feelings, it just wasnt as good as its predecessors or what i expected from nolan and the reviews.

Felt he wasnt too invested in making tdkr but out of money fame or obligations to his fans to tie up the trilogy and that was what tdkr is, a closing of his batman story, albeit a rather sloppy nolan effort.

Basically its people looking over the films flaws and having their own view imo. Sadly TDKR isn't more than the sum of its parts. The film simultaneously does too much and too Little. Just cutting the fat wouldn't fix all the story problems. While Batman begin's third act greatly diminished my enjoyment of the movie as a whole, Rise's never *ahem* rises to those hights or depths. Remember this is coming from a person who is lukewarm on BB.

Im a
TDKR>BB>>TDK person
I understand both the others are technically better but I got much more enjoyment out of this.
my favorite scenes of Begins(flashbacks, ninja training, tumbler chase) which are my favorite of the series, are also about equaled with similar scenes in this.

What an ambitious film. Overly-ambitious, in fact, and a little bit over-reaching.

I thought The Dark Knight Rises was a mountain of absolutely brilliant ideas that all got lost in the edit. Good film, and a great ending..but my least favourite of the three without hesitation.

The original 400 page script was probably amazing...but in condensing it down so much it feels like certain characters only exist to serve as contrived plot points and blah blah blah.

Still good. Just not nearly as great as the other two. That's fine, though. Those two are amongst my very favourite films.

TDKR feels like a film full of what should be lingering, haunting moments..So full, in fact, that it has to blaze through them as fast as it can. There are major editing problems here. Instead of boiling this film down and letting it breathe, it seems like Nolan made the decision to try and include as much as he could from an epic lengthed screenplay..and it hurt the pacing and the impact of certain moments.

My ranking: TDK>>BB>>TDKR

I'd give the first two films 4/4. I'd give the third one a 3/4 or a 3.5/4. Can't wait to see it again so that I can re-examine my initial thoughts.
