Was really happy to see Neeson again. I was hoping for it and got it. Only thing I didn't like is they re-used a scene from BB when they were telling Bane's backstory and that bothered me, felt cheap

Question - though I really did like how we see the physical toll being bats has had on Wayne (cartilage in knees gone, host of other issues), why was he walked around as a cripple ... Was that a bit of a persona? And why did he allow his company to go to such shit? Was he depressed or some shit ??

It was hard to tell in this because they were really smart about the lighting, but after seeing Battleship (blargh) and the Taken 2 trailer......man Neeson has finally started to age BIG TIME :_(

I think the general consensus among Gotham's people is there is no way a man like Bruce Wayne could be Batman. Hence them always over looking the coincidences.

Yea he looked fatter, older :(

Cotillard also put on some weight since Inception BUT she has amazing tits

Really stretching. He knows JGL over a few weeks, Selina Kyle even less. He gives Talia a nuclear weapon.

To be fair, he doesnt so much *give* Talia a nuke as he tries to do whatever he can to keep it from Daggett. Which at that point meant only one option - giving Talia control.

It wasn't a case of "DAMN UR HOT. LETS BONE AND HERES THE KEYS TO THE NUKE"

That scene before Bruce and Talia made out... her tits looked ridiculously big. Then Bruce put something over her shoulder to cover it up. I was like, what the hell are you doing Bale.

Man the Dagget stuffed confused me. Who was he, a shareholder of the company? I got lost there

Wait. Did you guys believe Bruce actually died?

All that talk of autopilot pretty much gave it away that he survived. Still a cool scene.

I also dont buy, even for second, Batman defeating Bane in the second encounter. At least not one on one, not after the results of the first encounter.

Really hated how he went out too. So...anti-climactic for such a brilliant antagonist.

All that said, the movie was top notch, put together well and was easily the best movie of the three, but the joker was a bigger presence in the second movie. However, there was nothing like the mess that was Two Face's arch or the entire boat scene, so that puts it on top for me. Everything felt like it had enough time to flesh out, and when the credits rolled, I didnt feel like it needed much more time if any at all.

TDKR>TDK>BB

Honestly, I know a lot of people who aren't even aware BB exists and think TDK was the first reboot film. As heavy-handed as they were, I understand why they were there.

Still could have been done better though.

How the hell does this work? How does one only see TDK, and go into TDKR, heavily marketed as the conclusion to the TRILOGY, and not figure out they kinda missed a movie in there?

The same people who didn't really care about TDKR to find anything out about it.

Except he didn't? He never talked to Gordon after the bomb went off. The only person who semi-knew was Lucius because he saw the autopilot had been fixed.

Jesus, again?!

ALL 5 OF THE PEOPLE IN THE KNOW THAT BRUCE = BATS KNOW THAT HE IS ALIVE.

Talia knows because duh, she's with Bruce at the end.
Lucious knows due to the autopilot fix.
Blake knows do to Bruce amending his will to leave the coordinates to the Batcave to him in it (and turn Wayne Manor into a boys home).
Gordon knows because of the bat symbol.
Alfred knows because Bruce makes his dream a reality.

Bruce OVERTLY let everyone know he was alive and okay.

Was trying to think of the name of the comic this movie reminded me of and yes it is No Man's Land. Nolan has definitely read all the good ones ... Long Halloween, Year One, Killling Joke, No Mans Land etc ..

Did anyone else notice how Bane's voice changed throughout the film?
In the beginning it was very terribly badly dubbed and you could tell they re-dubbed it if you had watched the prologue. However, by around the middle of the film (say, around the first fight between bane and batman) his voice was no longer dubbed and fit once again into the overall setting. I think this is also why many people still say the voice was unclear at parts. By that time, you could tell they no longer re-dubbed the voice but had done something else to it.

Reflecting on it some more I really loved the Alfred scene at the end. What Nolan got perfect with this series is playing up the fact that more than the dutiful limey butler Alfred really is an adoptive parent to Bruce. It really destroys him because he feels like he's let the family down when Bruce allows his life go to tatters. Knowing that Bruce had survived and had freed himself of the grief and guilt of needing to clean up Gotham felt like Alfred really had done the best job he could possibly done. Don't give me that Alfred shoulda just winked and nodded at the camera shit, this was Morgan and Tim smiling at each other on the beach style awesome.

The overdub in the prologue was absolutely terrible. It definitely got better in the rest of the movie but there were still parts where it sounded like the ambient sound cut out to make his voice more audible.

Given the circumstances surrounding the loss of his wife, it's a bit more than just age.

Plus you guys didn't notice that Alfred, after nodding at Bruce at the end, starts to leave his seat and go somewhere? Now why would he do that when he just sat down in the cafe? Obviously he went to meet Bruce at his new secret hiding location.

You guys and your nitpicks.

It was beautiful. Fitting end, perfect, loved it.

Will post impressions later, just got back home and all I can say is wow.

wife dying will do that to a guy.

At the end of the day;
Bane wasn't just some meathead
He not only beat the shit out of Batman, he 'broke' him

Thats better than any non comic iteration of Bane(even sucked in TAS).

series villain rankings
Nolan Ra's>comic Ra's>TAS Ra's
TAS Scarecrow>Nolan Scarecrow
TAS Joker> Nolan Joker=comic Joker
Nolan Dent>TAS Dent>comic Dent
Comic Bane=Nolan Bane>>TAS Bane
Comic Talia>>Nolan Talia>>>TAS Talia

Selina: hey bruce wayne just shaved his goatee and batman is back in town.

connecting the dots has never been a big feature in the comics

Did Selina buy that Batman was Bruce's "friend"? Kind of how Peter Parker is Spider-Man's "friend" and lets him take pictures of Spidey. Or Clark Kent gets all the Superman inside scoops because they're "friends".

They're the same person, fools!

edit - oh poop. I made a new post. Arrrgh.

just some random thoughts

- Probably one of the best endings of any show that I've watched in the last 5 years. Walked out with a huge grin on my face

- Music fit the film I guess. But did Zimmer just reuse everything from the last 2 films? I hope they didn't pay him full price for his work. Other than the chanting track (which was heard in the trailers) I really don't recall anything distinctly different.

-They didn't really holdback on the violence did they? Really liked the raw brutality of alot of the scenes

On my second viewing, I noticed when Batman finally defeats Bane and start growling at him. Bane says "But I broke you!" in convincing disbelief, obviously he never read the comics.

She only realizes it at the moment Bane calls Batman Mr. Wayne. After that it's just an inside joke.

copying this from the non-spoiler thread: the script is a bit of a mess, and there is way too much exposition, and way too much chronological movement and complex plot stuffed into the already expansive length of the film.

the first two movies were much better. this should have been reduced in scope by like 60 or 70%. there is no way to capture the social dynamic they wanted to in this movie, and the whole endeavor suffers.

Well, people had the same complaints about the inclusion of the third act of TDK.

yeah, somehow this seemed exponentially more cacophonous. there were some great moments in the film, but it was dragged down in the dumps by a plot that moved too fast, too much happy coincidence, exponential dialogue, other cheesy dialogue that seems endemic of a lot of the scripts nolan brings to the screen, and a lot of other minor problems that come together into something big and bothersome.

to compound my disappointment with tdkr, when you think of it...tdkr bane is no better than b&r bane....sure nolan gave him some semi-intelligent and semi-inaudible lines but ...

both are just muscleman for the real female villains
bane need a convenient note to know the identity of batman and harvey
bane pussying out once he saw the bat sign
bane getting ass pounded by old batman with the power of pushups and chinups who was recovering from a broken back
bane balls shrinking when batman does his bat voice interrogation
bane does the :( face because he never got out of the pit
bane tearing like a puppy in front of talia
bane masterplan of letting gotham citizens tear themselves down in despair failed...because most of them just locked themselves in doors out from the cold... lulz

bane is also probably a depraved pedobear...

I also hated how bane went out.....but i guess i can imagine he crawled off somewhere and healed up

If ledger was still around i would of loved to see what they would of done with the joker as i think he would of made a better judge than the scarecrow

I got the impression she was just playing along. I don't think she really cared. She didn't give a shit about Bruce/Bat at that point.
