One thing I did miss, did they ever fully explain why Bane was booted from the league? I'm assuming it had to do with his relationship with Talia.

You obviously disagree with his opinion, otherwise you wouldn't be berating him about it.

This

plus this

are clearly evident of that. This is a forum, and this is a thread, about a movie with polarising opinions. You're going to get (and already have) people criticising the film and suggesting where they feel it could be improved. The post I mentioned came across as a bit assholish to me. If it wasn't intended to be, I apologise.

I just don't want to see this thread dragged down to "lol you think you can make a better movie but you cant" as a basis for disagreeing with opinions on the internet.

First qoute, im making fun of the "I can do it better."

Same as the second qoute, in fact, I never disagreed that He "didn't like it." In fact, I never even read the post where he talked about not liking it, etc. I just didnt see it cause I dont think I went that far back into the thread to read it.

and the last qoute, was just me clicking with my homie from the gaf-hop thread. It had nothing to do with technomancer. hell, I didn't even know the_technomancer was posting stuff until he made the comment about making it better. so your logic is flawed. How you could have did it better is by stating how you just dont like what the fuck I said as oppossed to say I disagreed with his opinion/ being a dick cause i disagreed with his subjective opinion (WHatever it was), as it would have made more sense. with that said, I apologize myself, for not getting your approval on my post and not getting your positive judgement, as I thought this was an internet forum, with polorising opinions, mine included.

<edit> and hey, yea i was making fun etc, but I never just verbally berated the guy with cursewords lol, but I'll be the bad guy called "a mocking little shit"

il take that.

And again, what was the whole point of the 5 month time bomb when they could have detonated it any time, especially when they planned for it to go off anyways with apparently no intention of leaving the island? What is the point of the meaningless time limit?

It was just so that they could have Batman's back broken and realistically heal in time to save the day. Other than that I imagine a lot of material was cut that would show the collapse of Gotham society. There were 99% vs 1% elements that seemed under-developed. I think part Bane's thing was to show how bad society actually operates in Gotham when "ordinary people" are given full control thus proving his agenda that Gotham just isn't worthy of life.

I'm not writing review yet but this film is a mess. It was only redeemed slightly by the ending. I think the worse part was the sound design. It's really hard to hear what the characters are saying because their voice is often drowned by the background noise/music. Even worse is Bane's voice. Fuck him. As if Batman's voice wasn't hard enough to understand.
Re the sound.
I dunno if this applied to you but ive seen it twice now. First time I saw it I saw it the sound was great. I was really worried that I wouldn't understand Bane but minus maybe a line ot two (which I could work out from the response of the other characters) I could understand everything Bane said.

I went to see it again in IMAX today and this time the sound was so fucking LOUD! Like excessively loud to the point where the seats were vibrating every few minutes and I found it really hard to make out what was being said. Luckily I'd seen it already so I could remember a lot of the lines but had that been my experience first time I'd have been really disappointed.

Alfred said it was because his methods were too extreme for the League. Alfred knows this shit, mang.

Which some elaboration on would have been nice, considering what we've seen the league do. R'as was set to essentially "nuke" the city in the first movie.

Oh, wait, did I just suggest that the movie should have been slightly different in some way shape or form?! Sorry, I retract my comment. This was the best fucking movie ever.

Nolan sure likes casting comedians and TV actors in his movies.

Thomas London (Reno 911, Bad Teacher), Jillian Armenante (Bad Teacher, Shameless), Desmond Harrington (Dexter), Daniel Sunjata (Lie To Me, Grey's Anatomy), Burn Gorman (Torchwood), Warren Brown (Luther)

It was so Bruce Wayne could suffer in agony as he watched Gotham crumble.

Which they had to drag out for 5 whole months? They didn't expect Batman to come back, Bane was clearly surprised at it so why have a time limit? Why be 5 months? The people of Gotham had no idea there was a time limit on it. Build despair? Whats the purpose of it when they are just going to kill them all anyways? Batman comes back and makes it clear hes back and they don't just blow the island?

Ra's would have just blown up the city day one, Bane on the either hand wanted to torture it for months before destroying it. That's not the way the League is supposed to work.

I guess, but R'as wanted to blow it up by driving everyone insane and causing them to kill each other in animalistic frenzy. That's still torture in my book.
But I guesssssss

But then Talia explained that R'as wouldn't take him in because his face was all messed up and he looked like a monster. Right?

I don't think it was because of appearance. It was more than he was a monster rather than he looked like a monster. Whatever happened must have changed how he viewed the world/his methods. And he served as a reminder of what his wife went through.

Talia said it's because Bane reminded Ra's of the prison he left Talia's mother in.

Someone could clear it up. From what I understood of it, Ra's was a mercenary who slept with a warlord's daughter. Instead of serving jail time in the pit himself, they threw his pregnant lover in and exiled Ra's.

I would like to see this too. Was the prologue just the opening scene or was there any more to it?

Exact same scene, just with a different (and better) line read from Hardy.

Having seen it twice, I absolutely loved it. The flow of the movie was much better the second time, but that could have been because I was pretty tired at my midnight showing.

The main thing that annoyed me was that they never establish the name Bane when Gordon is in the sewer. I caught it the first time and thought I'd missed something, but watched carefully the second time and his name is never spoken when Gordon is down there. I guess we can infer that his name was mentioned while they were dragging him there, but it's overall a small annoyance in a fantastic movie.

I think I agree with Neil Gaiman though, in that while I think its the better movie, I still like TDK a tiny bit more.

Thanks, Nolan.

He was rejected from the league because Ras couldn't deal with the constant reminder of what his great love/child went through. They explicitly say this towards the end....

That would have destroyed the city practically overnight. Ra's was looking for a way to destroy the whole city at once.

Question, what's the actor's name for Bane's right hand man? I recognized him from some movie or TV show, but IMDB doesn't seem to have him listed, or I'm just not looking close enough.

I don't get the 5 month plan either. Such a lousy plan on the terrorist's side. A lot of things could have gone wrong in 5 months. And they are expecting the bomb to be accurate too, down to providing a timer. Still, not as hilarious as spine/vertebrae injury healed by an old man slapping his back and tying him on a rope.

But how is releasing fear inducing gas not torturing the city?

Because that was just the method of killing the city. Of course it's a brutal end, but had he succeeded in gassing the whole city almost all of the city would have been dead within a short time. With Ra's it was all about the end result, Bane was all about prolonging the suffering.

Josh Stewart?

That's the mercenary. The business guy who dealt with Taggert and Selina is Burn Gorman.

Filmtracks is pretty scathing in its review for the soundtrack
http://filmtracks.com/titles/dark_knight_rises.html

I have to say, of all the components that make up the film, the score is definitely the weakest. The bits where it does work, it works wonders, such as during the opening plane scene (when the drums kick in as the second plane appears) or during the chase in the car park when Batman returns and the chase theme kicks in.

The five months is so Bruce Wayne can heal himself and, IDK, take a Batbus from Fish Pasta prison to Gotham.

But at least they hid that fact under the veil of "I just LOVE torturing people with hope!", even if most people spend the final act inside their houses scared shitless. Most supervillians just have a time bomb for the hero to conveniently escape "because".

I like the soundtrack on its own a lot more than I liked it during the movie. In the context of the film some of it was way too overbearing and some of it felt like not quite as good rehashes of TDK stuff. But listening to it on its own, it makes for a nice score for the final act in the trilogy.

I largely hated the soundtrack. It was nice in some parts, particularly the emotional parts but overall, it was derivative of the previous films and drowned out the speech of characters in a lot of scenes.

Wait, I just remember that Bruce and Talia had sex....
So...Next movie, Robin Begins?
Damian can take on JGL for the mantle of the bat... or something.
Maybe it can be a romantic comedy.
Yeah, let's go with that.

And I have to repeat this, they really fucked up Bane's voice during the prologue. It was SO obviously done through ADR. I really do not like bloggers for their constant complaining for month after month right now. Nolan should have stuck with his guns there.
Just fix the sound mix is all they had to do. It was so low in the mix during the prologue!

I'm curious how Bruce got back into Gotham after leaving the Pit. Did Superman help him?

that was one of the parts that was like whaaa? cause i think he got out of that pit when it was like "!2 hours left" then all of a sudden, he happenned to find dat cat woman. if I got out that pit and it was 12 hours left, I would have been like "Fuck, I guess gotham is just done." but then again, I am not the GOD DAMN BATMAN

When Bane first spoke in the opening airplane scene I couldn't stop laughing. His voice was particularly bad in that scene. Either it got a bit better as the movie went on or I just got used to it and wasn't super bothered by it. Overall I really don't understand why they went with that voice. It's completely ridiculous and at times inaudible.

Alfred will videotape the villains' defense and get Batman the extra prep time he needs.
Only the dialog is like his press conferences.

Alfred? Why are you leaving me?

"It is what it is."

Tell me more about Bane!

"He played better than us today"

Can you help me at all?

"I already answered that"
