I'll take an exaggerated, loud - but comprehensible - Bane voice over the mumbly nonsense in the original prologue. Sorry guys; not being able to understand what a character is saying doesn't add mystique or monstrosity to the villain; it just becomes an exercise in frustration for the viewer.

I loved how inhuman and unearthly Bane sounded booming from the center channel (which was the old plan anyway, right? They just cranked the volume a bit)

The original prologue is on YouTube and I understand Bane's dialogue fine...though I guess it's different in a theatre. The new ADR/ whatever was done for his voice was largely bad IMO.

I'm not really a movie person and have no idea how the industry works, so someone please please please tell me another sequel is likely. That ending was such a fucking tease!

So let's be honest. At this point in time, where do you think the Nolan trilogy ranks among the great trilogies of all time?

I'm putting it ahead of everything, except for 'Toy Story' and 'The Man with No Name'.

I will say that the kid singing at the stadium once we find out the explosives are underneath somewhat pales in comparison to a very similar scene in Sum of All Fears.

In that movie, the main guy (and audience) realize that the nuclear bomb is directly underneath the stadium. As soon as that's revealed, they cut to this:

And we see that not only is there a sports game, but the President will be attending as well, along with a majority of the main cast. All that sinks in as the anthem is played.

I feel like that was a much better, powerful reveal than the one in this movie, which seemed a little more hokey and cheesy in comparison. I dunno.

There won't be a sequel. There WILL be a new Batman movie in the next 4-5 years, but not featuring this cast or crew or storyline.

Probably #2 behind Dollars trilogy for me. Way up there.

Now I'm wondering why Devin was saying WB hated the ending, were his sources wrong again?

This felt like the ending WB would have wanted. Room for a sequel, but Nolan is able to end Bruce Wayne's journey.

I saw the guy people were calling the new NO MORE DEAD COPS guy, but I didn't give a fuck. Inside I was reacting like him. RISE!

Ive said it before, but I actually LOVED all those one-line actors in TDKR. "Son, you're in for a treat" guy is the best in the trilogy.

Gordon and Bruce's friendship has been one of the best things about the series. Oldman nailed the role so fucking hard. When he quivers in TDK " I killed those people. That's what I can be." "No, no, you can't! You're *not*!" Soo good.

For me? Probably top. There's a large difference between best and favourite, so I'm able to accept all these flaws and say this is my favourite trilogy of all time.

Don't tell nobody but I've had the Man With No Name trilogy on blu ray for ages and have never seen the films. Whoops

Hey solo I don't really feel like digging...can I read your thoughts? Got an old post you can link me too? You're my favorite movie guy here so I'd like to know your thoughts

edit: as for trilogies:

-The Man With No Name
-Nolan Batmans
-Toy Story
-Original Star Wars

You know what your mission is.

Gordon's best moment for sure is 'I... have to save Dent!'

He just sounds fucking hopeless, like he hasn't got a clue what to do.

Oldman is very good in BB but I think the climax turns him into a bit of a joke in the Tumbler. But he knocks it out the fucking park in the next two.

Huh. I'll be damned. Didn't piece that together the first time. I'm starting to really want to see this again. I like his explanation as to how Blake could become Batman without training:

"The training is nothing, the will is everything. The will to act."

Like I've been saying, there is ample evidence that Selina, Alfred, Lucious, Gordon and Blake all know he is alive. And I believe intentionally so. Selina is obvious, but as for the rest:

- Bruce put the bat symbol up to let Gordon know
- Bruce logged himself as the autopilot fixer to let Lucious know
- Bruce amended his will to include Blake to let him know
- Bruce sought out Alfred on his annual trip to let him know

Where was the statue located? It looked like Wayne Manor at first lol. City Hall?

Oh god yes. You can tell how impassioned he is about his mission. Even at the expense of losing his family (a detail i felt a little glossed over in this)

how long until we get news of a Dark knight / nolan era trilogy set? September? im so hyped for holidays this year hoping it'll come out.

Probably somewhere around the middle of the pack, with BttF And Dollars trilogies. There's one great movie, and two pretty darn good ones. I'd put Toy Story, LotR, and the original Star Wars above it.

Oh, if I can discredit Kingdom of the Crystal Shit, then Indy would be top.

the NYC skyline shots and bridges pissed me off.

I love the movie but I always figured Gotham to more back alley-ish like 1930s Chicago was was more prominent in Batman Begins.

Excellent movie but the sky shots bug me

I would have liked to heard what happened to the Joker. How do you let all the scum of Gotham loose and not tell what happened to him? Either he died or he got free with the rest of them. They said they told Joker's story and didn't want to piss on Ledger's grave, but Crane's story was already told as well yet he is in it.

All the scum was let out of Blackgate though. I'd guess Joker was in Arkham? haha.

Without even getting into the real big guns..even the Bourne Trilogy is fairly better.

.

I fucking LOVED IT. Let's get this out of the way straight away - in some ways this is the very worst entry in the series, and in some ways its the very best entry in the series. It is BY FAR (like much, MUCH more than even BB) the most comic book-y of the films.

As such, it carries a whole host of contrivances and holes in the plot and the film's internal logic that trump anything seen in either BB or TDK. Big time. I suspect this is a movie that will have its nits picked to an extent that would make the nitpicking done on TDK seem tame. Also, time and distance are played extremely fast and loose with, and as such, I would probably would say its the messiest movie of the three, from an editing and plotting perspective. Some of the characters, Bane and Miranda Tate chief among them, were not nearly as well developed as Rhas was in BB or The Joker or Harvey were in TDK. Fabulously acted, but both felt as though they needed some more meat on their bones. The action wasn't bad at all, and most of it was clearly shot, but as usual it lacked that stylistic and editing prowess that Nolan's action always does. So yeah, TDKR has its problems.

Thankfully, it's also FUCKING AWESOME. Bruce's arc, which has always been the heart of the franchise for me (and his backseat role in TDK is one of the reasons I am down on that film), gets the treatment and the screentime it deserved, and Nolan pulled it off brilliantly. Like, fucking amazingly. I had the biggest smile on my face during the final scenes. The heart and emotional undercurrent that drove BB has returned here in droves, and Bale really gets to shine. It really felt like the ending to an epic trilogy, and it really went out with a bang. The final few minutes were just perfect. I suspect there will be some controversy arise out of some of the final events, but I felt there were all thematically justified and struck just the right note for me. I was 100% completely satisfied with the journey of Bruce Wayne.

There is a whole host of fanservice in this movie, but you know what? That shit fucking worked for me. TDK and especially BB have heaps of references to them, both overt and subtle, and I ate that shit right up. The cast was great as usual, with the real standouts aside from Bale this time being Michael Caine and Anne Hathaway. Caine just fucking slays me when he gets on with the emotional stuff, and Anne absolutely owned her role and definitely came to play. So many great scenes that I know I've likely forgotten half of them already, yet some of them are instantly unforgettable to me.

A bold, unconventional, out there conclusion to a flawed, but very special trilogy for me. It's Chris Nolan being Chris Nolan, and all the good and the bad that comes with it, and he nailed this one for me. A script with issues triumphed over by a movie with character arcs and emotional beats that resonate.

Saw it this morning and thought it was great. Probably #3 of the pecking order but not a bad film by any stretch. Kudos for finally breaking the 3rd movie curse!

I was glad I stayed away from the movie rumors as much as I could so I didn't know much of the Blake character going in. I had some ideas of what I thought the film was going to cover, and I'm happy to see Nolan can still surprise me even though I feared too much was revealed in trailers already.

i loved how they worked in Robin real subtle way. I picked up on it early on and said "He just added robin w/o the name". The name reveal at the end was the obvious reveal for people to pick up on.

I just am stunned he created a movie that incorporated The Dark Knight Returns, Knightfall, and the real shocker.. No Mans land all in one film. Also introduced Robin, Batman, Talia & Bane and it worked?? That makes what Spiderman 3 had look like a cake walk

It had huge scope and I enjoy the tone of each film (and theme) was different. It was a far reaching movie with big ideas and big scope. Did he land them all? Eh probably not but damn he actually tried. I love that. You can't say he didn't try to do something truly unique in the "comic book" films. I also liked how it tied the two previous films together and it truly is a trilogy with a beginning, middle and end.

Non comic book fans did gasp when Talia was revealed. It came so late i did start to question if it was going to be Talia but just not named Talia. haha. Gordon was still badass, Catwoman worked surprisingly well, and Bane broke batman's back. *geeks out*

As a long time batman I'm just so happy to have these films that show the wide audiences the great aspects (and diverse stories that can be told) with the character and mythos. I'm sure this one will be over analyzed and picked apart like most movies are on the internet, but I love we can get movies like this And movies like Iron Man & the Avengers.

We're getting badass comic book movies! I am still shocked we've made it to this. Back when Blade was the gold standard, then it was "well X-men turned out alright", to "Woo go Spiderman 2 & Xmen 2".

I disagree with Lucious and Blake. Bruce when he fixed the Bat autopilot software was probably not planning on faking his death at that point. I'm also not sure if Blake knows either.

Be out by Christmas, that's for damn sure.

That's what i assumed / hoped, idgaf how much it costs.

So since wayne estate was given to alfred bruce looked up his spot he always goes to to show him he's alive? I thought it was coincidence :lol.

teared up when the wayne manor was given to the home for boys.

Man I freaking loved the fact that the scarecrow acts bored and disinterested during the trial scenes. He just seems to take his freedom for granted and its just hilarious.
