I hope is death. Been waiting for so long for it that I don't even give a crap anymore.
This.Even if Versus wasn't cancelled they're still the worst.
Confirmed fake, so edited out.
I just meant, I don't remember the answer being 'we're toying with the idea of porting it', I remember it more like 'why is it exclusive?', 'we're looking into it', but it's been a while. They did ask about the exclusivity of Versus once as far as I know.
Usually their questions are nothing more than 'is Versus still in development?' to which Wada says 'Yes'. Kinda like at Take Two shareholders meetings they would ask about GTAs and whether a new one is being developed, basically no-story answers and questions but obviously it would go down a long way to dispel this rumor. SE should actually have a shareholders meeting pretty soon, I think.
I've been banned for posting stuff from that site before.

Why do you guys take rumors so seriously? It may be it may be not, that's the nature of rumors. It's not verified.
The bright side is that if this snowballs further, it'll hopefully force SE to show SOMETHING from the game soon as opposed to keeping it locked away while shoving more MMOs and direct sequels to XIII down our throats.

I hope it's not canceled. Everything we had heard about this game sounded awesome. Giant (seamless?) world + map, battles in and out of cities, flashy action-based combat. Then there was that gameplay video.
It looked like they had laid the groundwork for the best JRPG of all time, provided they didn't screw up the story and pacing or something.

But will they? Bowing to internet pressure doesn't seem to be their thing and the mindset is probably something like "we'll show it when we're ready."
With XIII-3 likely coming so soon, and FFXIV 2.0 getting the spotlight... would it really be wise to show Versus XIII which would likely overshadow both entirely?

Its quite funny, because you usually think publishers will try to increase sales with sequels, but thats definitely not going to happen with FFXIII-3 I reckon. Didn't they say they wanted to make the ff series and rpg equivalent of modern warfare or something. Funny that they actually seem to be selling less than previous titles. Wander what focus groups they are aiming for...

As each XIII sequel sells less than its predecessor, they'll eventually get to a point where they reign Toriyama back right? I feel like I shouldn't even ask such a dumb question, but this is SE and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they freaking watch FFXIII-3 bomb and proceed to ordain Toriyama as Mega Czar of Final Fantasy or something.
That is typically the goal, yes. But when you have a game like FFXIII that had mixed reception, it's going to be hard to convince those same people to buy a direct sequel, especially when XIII wasn't planned to be a trilogy from the start.

Assuming they opt to make it only a trilogy. D:
and these sequels are not doing much to attract new fans...infact, it seems they are trying to go after and new market...I remember toriyama or some such saying that ffxiii was aimed towards teens or something, not so much to people in there twenties (who probably make up the main bulk of the series fans incidentally)...it is modern greed and fallacy to be honest. Try and attract new customers with accessibilty etc and screw your current base
Its almost as if they value Toriyama over Nomura....
NO.
Nomura has been deeply involved in a number of projects this generation.Maybe a shitty game that gets released is better than vapourware that sucks up company resources for half a decade?
Nomura has been deeply involved in a number of projects this generation.
He's directed KH:Coded, KHS, KH
SP, KH
DD. He's been a creative producer on TWEWY, CC:FF7, Dissidia 1/2, T3B. And he's been a character design on a few others. He's been busy.
When discussing Nomura, I don't see what that matters. I have no idea what the other staff have been doing. What about all the other Versus staff? It's not just one guy.

a mod here said its being dated at tgs. Thats good enough for me
Right now he's probably not on that many. He's being less involved with the mainline FFs as it goes on it appears, he probably isn't spending too much time on XV/XVI, I doubt he's juggling a ton of KHs, 3 is probably the only one in the pipeline.Maybe even too busy...
This was also a concurrent joke between my friends when he was juggling all together Advent Children, Kingdom Hearts 2, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core and another project (that would end up being The World Ends With You).
How many projects is he managing now at the same time other than Versus and the next Kingdom Hearts?
I didn't, the discussion was which director is of more value to Square Enix. Why single out only Nomura? The poster you were replying to said the Versus project has been a money sink, not that Nomura hasn't been productive for the last six years.
I really don't buy into the idea that Versus is not being shown as not to over shadow their upcoming games. It's their choice what they decide to make and show. They could clearly focus on Versus and XIV 2.0, but they choose to do something more with Lightning and XIII instead.
Either it really is taking this long to make (unlikely), or they are just choosing to not show it because they believe it wont sell, or it's not being worked on anymore.
They also tried to go after NBA fans and viewers of Spike TV - I wonder how that worked out for them.
See... the thing is, this wouldn't have been a bad idea if they did it for Versus XIII. Not XIII-2.
I don't think there is a big overlap between NBA fans and anime fans.

I seriously doubt it would sell less than FFXIII-2 if it is half decent...many of the features that game included seem to be more attractive to western gamers than FFXIII...I don't doubt many of the Japanese gamers were also underwhelmed by FFXIII
