There is a spoiler thread for spoilers guys.

As for upcoming comic book films, erm Iron Man 3 is next year. Im excited for the First Class sequel personally.

Despite reactions from CC I can't help but feel Superman is going to be so mediocre. Snyder hasn't impressed me once.

I just have no faith in the project at all. I fee like its going to be incredibly shallow and never mine the emotional depth that Nolan's Batmans did.

Godless heathens will say Superman. Realists will say: there isn't one on the horizon :_(

I guess maybe Iron Man or Sin City 2. Maybe. But neither are even close to being in that Batman realm.

Zack snyder has a glimmer of talent as a director, if given good material. Watchmen
is good and most people unfairly omit it from these top of lists.

Obviously they should keep him the fuck away from writing his own stories.

Honestly I don't think were getting any trilogy of anything that will be as good as Nolans Batman for a long long time. Batman just kind of became the perfect storm for brilliance.

I would love to see someone like paul greengrass re-do watchmen several years down the line.

Watchmen is amazing material with such untapped potential. This I can say even after liking snyder's take.

It was a situation where you wonder "who else could it be?".

I also called the fact that he has to ditch the rope in order to get out of the prison the second that (climbing up with the rope) was explained as the only way to get out. Seeing people fall with the rope holding them back reaffirmed this assumption. Nice metaphor though.

There were a lot of contrived parts about this movie. None were egregious enough to take me out of the experience, but they were certainly noticeable.

I also thought
Bane's death was terribly anitclimactic. I wanted an epic show down where Batman rips off his mask.

That being said, their fight scene was awesome.

This is actually my list too, but I'd give Superman Returns a boost out of the awful realm. I still really like certain aspects of that movie.

Saw it, quite disappointed, TDR was a much better, tenser and enjoyable movie for me.

Extremely predictable and overbearing in its telegraphs but Levitt was great.

hopefully the next series of batman movies isn't a reboot. i'm not saying christian bale and whoever else has to come back but we don't really need to see his origins again. maybe they can just have self contained stories or whatever

didn't see Ironman 2 or the new Spiderman to have an opinion.

I would give Aronofsky the chance he never got before Nolan made begins. Or, if I were doing a story-specific film, I would lock Verhoeven in for The Dark Knight Returns.

Hopefully, he would throw out Frank Miller's script.

There's nothing wrong with an independent director doing a Batman movie: Nolan proved that. The problem was that this wasn't so much a Batman movie as it was an insane remake of Taxi Driver (if Travis Bickle wore a cape).

In the script by Frank Miller, with input by Aronofsky, Bruce Wayne becomes a street-dwelling orphan after his parents are killed, growing up into "a borderline psychotic who begins taking violent vengeance on street thugs." Instead of using high-tech gadgets, this lower-class Batman is equipped with whatever junk he can find, since obviously he's working on a budget: a hockey mask, a cape, brass knuckles and a knife. Oh, and instead of the Batmobile? He drives a pimped out Lincoln Continental.

We'd rather have the Adam West version.
Remember Alfred, the butler? In this version he's an auto mechanic called Big Al who takes in a young, raging Bruce Wayne ("more of a wild animal than a boy") and raises him. When the movie starts, Big Al has passed away and Bruce is living with his son, Little Al, described as "a gigantic, early middle-aged black man." Also, Catwoman is a sassy dominatrix working in a whore house across the street from Al's garage ... but that part actually is in the comic.

The Batcave, rather than being a hidden base with intricate technology lining stone walls, is an abandoned subway station. The Batcycle is a regular black motorbike. Robin is an old Jewish lady with an axe. (That last part isn't true, but only that last part.) Even the name is different: In this version he actually calls himself "The Bat-Man." That's how much Aronofsky wanted to distance himself from the comic.

"In fact, you know what, fuck it: Let's call him Hockey-Face Roger and have him lose an arm to heroin."
Aronofsky eventually moved away from the project ... because he was worried it would be too much like Rocky. That's what happens when you strip away all the unique elements in a superhero franchise, Darren -- you're eventually left with Rocky.

Yep. Everything we have seen about the movie is random footage, which is Snyder's strength and talent. It's obvious the movie will look good, but I doubt it will even manage to be more engaging than the Donner movies.

Just got back.

Wow just wow. Before even reading other people's problems, I know exactly what they will be and I can even understand, but I FUCKING LOVED IT.

Yes its more comic bookish with its plot but it just worked. I am sure some guys can pick its plot and details apart but as a total package it delivered so go damn much.

I can't wait to see it again! And maybe right now its so fresh in mind and I hate to rank the three right now but I def enjoyed it more than TDK simply because it focused so much more on Bruce.

X-men 2 needs to be in the very good category

Also its missing Sin City, Hellboy 1 & 2, Blade, Daredevil, Watchmen and a couple others that are comics but people probably don't know it (ie: Road to Perdition)

Yeah I was going to put more films in but the list was getting pretty long so I stopped.

edit - I loved Thor, I know its get alot of hate but I really enjoyed it.

For people going today, how were crowds? Seems like Friday's box office ended up on the low end of expectations.
