CFA response to anti-gay alleg. "Guilty as charged." Do NOT gloat about eating at CFA

So, remember that thing I said about inevitability?

Yeah. Chic-fil-A will get in line. Or it will end up destroying itself, patronage or no.

It's kind of like a movie, actually.

I knew CFA was a conservative company and didn't approve of same-sex marriage, but I somehow missed that they were also donating money to anti-gay groups at the same time. Until this changes, I'll probably be avoiding them in the future as well.

It's a damn shame, because I like their food, they're within walking distance of me, and one of the managers there was able to point me in the direction of a job that kept me out of poverty up here. The people who work there are incredibly nice, but I don't think I can eat there in good conscience with knowledge that, in some part, my money will go to a group who once said (more or less), "Why must we give equal rights to gay people?"

They can always do Bible toys.

I've always wondered why they never resorted to this in the first place. Not Chick Fil-a but in general. Who doesn't want a Jesus action figure with battle axe as well as the Jewish treasury accessory. Check out his live action button that overturns tables with piles of gold on 'em.

Sadly as long as we have states like North Carolina that not only vote to outlaw gay marriage but to also end civil unions, I think Chik-Fil-A will thrive. At least in the south. I hope this wakes enough people up in the other states to put a huge dent in their profits.

Pack it in with the Last Supper Tail Gate Box.

The Noah's Ark collection could go on for decades.

ok I laughed at the "I don't even know what race I am" line

The Jim Henson Company is officially ending it's relationship with Chick-Fil-A

On July 16 Chick-Fil-A began including Jim Henson toys with it's kids meals.

The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD. (http://www.glaad.org/)

Good for the Jim Henson Company.

:lol

Looks like they should of kept their mouths shut. I mean come on, gay marriage is becoming increasingly more accepted through out the country, so they're only hurting themselves. I can't wait for the inevitable backtrack they'll have to make.

I know I'll never eat there!

Of course, I've never eaten there. So not sure how much of an affect I'll have on their sales. I believe that would be zero.

Leah and I used to try to balance out our Chick Fil-A visits by making a donation greater than what we spent there to a LGBT charity, but now I don't think I can even do that any more. DAMN their chicken is good but I can't support them any more, I've had my last Chick Fil-A.

I almost respect it in a way, same with the Westboro Baptist Church. They don't dance around with some mealy mouthed "love the sinner hate the sin pray the gay away" shit. They carry around signs reading "GOD HATES FAGS." They're upfront. It's been no secret how Chick-Fil-A rolls. Repugnantly, obviously.

FUCK THE WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH.

Hasn't anyone copied that sandwich yet? I thought McDonalds had one.

I doubt very seriously that these evangelicals week back away from their stance on marriage equality any time soon, but I hope stuff like end of the Henson partnership will make them rethink donating to those hate groups.

ETA: Towle Road put up a link a few days ago to a recipe to the Chick Fil A sandwich.

But the bible, Gary Whitta!

I'm hesitant to give Henson too much praise, how do you not know what Chick-Fil-A is about before you go into business with them? They're running from bad PR.

I love you and everyone else in this thread who has made similar posts.

Context. All about context.

Pretty sure if Dev went into the Christian thread and began mocking it she'd be met with a ban.

I wish the world was nicer.

I wish humans didn't have to come to physical or verbal blows in an attempt to determine whose opinion is the right one.

Guilt, hate, resentment, discrimination... it all just starts to run together and look so utter pointless and futile to me that I don't even know if I can ever be truly passionate about a position again.

The shaming of CFA and its informed patrons will make the world a nicer place.
And then the next day comes and we're drawing battle lines and defining whether everyone's a good guy or a bad guy. I don't know, I think I'm just looking at things at such a large scale that doesn't do justice to the importance of the issue itself, and just see a string of strife and conflicts that just leads to everyone's short lives wasted on unnecessary misery. That goes for any side of it. Everything has to be a mini inquisition for people to feel vindicated or righteous and it is just so disillusioning.

No, I am laughing at your prognosticative efforts, whether intended literally or figuratively.

Like the gays and gay-friendly are going to war against the scumbags. Uh-huh.

It's funny when people use such terms to describe legal forms of protest when the opposition has often done the real version.

I'm just wearing my heart on my sleeve about how tired I am of fighting and categorizing people and it's something that's completely removed from the context of the issue du jour. You've interpreted a lot from a single phrase that was nothing more than a substitute for "fighting". As far as I can tell! you just take it personally that I'm sick of fighting and hostility. This was never about you or what you should do, just me dealing with my own life and thoughts. And you'd be entirely justified in not giving a shit about what I feel. In fact I encourage it.

Categorizing people? Look hateful people, racists/sexists/homophobes/etc need to just get with the fucking program. Don't like the hostility find a way to teach them some fucking tolerance and respect for different people.

I'm just talking about how people, especially on forums, communicate their ideas and approach disdainful opinions. I'm not talking about gay marriage, or religious bigots, or you personally. I'm just talking about the same cycle of venom and labeling that everyone engages in a lot more gray issues than this. People always seek to define and categorize each other and too rarely seek to know each other. And if that wasn't such a big thing then we wouldn't have ridiculous things like homophobia to deal with in the 21st century. It's as much a commentary on "traditional family" grow as it is on Internet denizens.

Yeah I don't really know what the relevance of this is supposed to be, just take it for what it is and what it's worth, whatever that may be.

Maybe you could start this tangent in a thread where people are getting heated over a superhero or robot movie, instead of one where people are trying to stick up for themselves or their friends.

No, I take it personally that you abuse the language in a way that many of these "oppressed" and "persecuted" crybaby Pac-Mans do.

I don't even know what you're upset about. It's a generic statement that accurately describes a lot of threads or what have you when people disagree. It's not about gay marriage or CFA, and I never even inferred that I was persecuted or oppressed. You're lending context that doesn't exist.

I guess this thread leads my mind there because it's such an intense example, irrespective of how much more justified such intensity is here.

I guess I should....apologize? for whatever inconvenience or displeasure my little introspective observations have caused you, or for whatever I did that made you imagine that it was an personal indictment of your beliefs.

If you want to bitch about how console warriors treat each other on forums by all means make another thread about it. We're talking about bigots in this thread so the tone is going to be different. I have absolutely no idea why you are whining about this is THIS thread of all places

The context is the thread in which you're posting. I understand what you're getting at, but this may not be the best place to express it.

That didn't happen.

Again, try reading.

Until then lol.

I mean you want people to be nicer, but I'd be happy if they could just read.

I guess the upside is that at least the nature of the reaction to what I said is relevant to what I said. I should have expected it to be taken as "you guys are being too mean to the bigots" and it was irresponsible of me to assume otherwise.

You took at as a criticism of how you and others feel about this, Or how condifent or strongly you should feel about t, and it was too detached and broad to ever be about that. I apologize for saying something so easily misread and I'll accept that you seek to ridicule me.
