For the next movie, they should just not bother with backstory. Do it New 52 style, where the story starts with Batman doing Batman things. Don't even bother with flashbacks like in the Burton Batman, just make it assumed that the people who want to know his origin already know it, and those that don't do not need to know for the movie to work.

Because it's great. I think it's better than the Nolan films personally but I know I'm in the minority in a thread full of Bane masks.

You're in the minority in reality.

This is just about the craziest shit I've ever heard. Thor is the most 5/10 superhero movie there is.

For people who watch in true IMAX, how big of a difference does it make from a standard movie theater? Because TDKR is going to be my first IMAX film.

Seeing an action sequence in IMAX in that massive screen is simply amazing. Over an hour of the film is in imax and you sit so close that the action literally encompasses your entire vision.

Though, when they do cut to scenes that were filmed in standard film, the quality is kinda lame, like a bad BD transfer. But don't let that detour you from seeing it in imax.

In my midnight screening, when the movie started and the studio logos started appearing, one guy shouted out "THIS IS IT GUYS!" and there was applause even before the movie started. :D

I guess here's a ranking that isn't a music soundtrack or best movie ranking:

how do you rank the 3 Bat Symbol openings

BB's Swarm of Bats
TDK's Blue Fire with swooping symbol
TDKR black ice cracking, ending with a multi layered Bat

I'd put it at TDK>BB>TDKR, but that could change. Liked all 3.

Ayo...where's the Hellboy movies son

This movie felt like 12 issues of a comic jammed into a movie. Loved it.

Yes it might be overstuffed but it's nice to have a superhero movie with TOO MUCH plot.

Definitely agree, instead of setting up one or two things and running with it there was stuff constantly going on. Really kept my attention.

Like others have mentioned I too think I'll enjoy this movie even more on another viewing, even though I loved it very much the first time. Everything just came together so damn well at the end. The ending was so good.

Yeah, I actually would've been ok if they added another 30 minutes to this. 2hours 45 minutes past by quick and more time to spread things out a bit would've been great.

How is it I state my view as a clear opinion but I'm vilified for it? As if it's some horrible disease? Really? Last I checked I can claim to like what I want or are you going to tell me otherwise? I also thought the first two Nolan batfilms were just too long for their own good. In fact, I'd say First Class is a step above his films simply due to pacing. I don't like a lot of air and filling in my super hero movies.

Thor felt like a 114 minute episode of a high budget fantasy sitcom.

I enjoyed some of it, particularly Hemsworth's performance, but overall it doesn't amount to anything besides being filler leading up to The Avengers.

Also, dutch angles.

Just watched Batman Begins again and while a excellent movie, it does not perfectly fit with later movies. The city seems different with weird slum island and overall griminess of the city. The color grading/cinematography is also significantly different, especially in nighttime Gotham.

Dark Knight and Rises on the other hand look and feel like a same movie to me.

I find this inconsistency to be a bit of an bummer. Tho the newer movies look much better so there is that...

Yep. Everything we have seen about the movie is random footage, which is Snyder's strength and talent. It's obvious the movie will look good, but I doubt it will even manage to be more engaging than the Donner movies.

Yeah, his trailers are gorgeous and always trick me. Not this time!

Snyder is just a mediocre director. Every-time I believe a director can break the rules and create something great I am always reminded that it never happens.
Last time that happened was McG and T:Salvation. I actually allowed myself to think this would be where McG finally established himself with a great great film.
Alas it wasn't and the same will happen with Superman.

I haven't seen that many useless dutch angles since Battlefield Earth

Lists yay:

Excellent:

TDK
TDKR

Great:

Avengers
BB
Superman
Superman 2

Watchable:

Hulk [Norton]
Iron Man
X-2

Terrible / Nostalgic still Terrible:

Yeah everything else: Spiderman, the rest of the X-Men, Thor are all terrible and some were only considered great because of the time-frame in which they released. We were all so used to every superhero movie being such ass that anything that looked like some effort went into it automatically blew us away.

I dunno why people think Thor is that awful. I'd put it far above the likes of Captain America and Norton's Hulk. It was an enjoyable flick with good humor, nice visual flourishes and perfect casting for the two primaries.

i liked thor a lot. MUCH better than captain america. i actually liked nortons hulk but i just seem to be in the minority in that regard. i dont get why people hate it so much. they captured hulks raw power very well and the last fight was awesome

Begins had terrible pacing problems. People just want to nostalgia it to death.

Dark Knight Rises was fucking terrific jesus, but so was Dark Knight.

I can't decide. They're both God Tier. Nolan is God Tier. Holy shit. Based Nolan, I am not worthy.

My problem with Thor is that while a fun movie there was far less action or genuine super hero moments in it than the other top super hero movies. The romcom element was too much and it really was nothing more than character intros for Thor and loki. Its not really what a Thor movie should be like imo.

Love all the x2 love in this thread, one of my favorite marvel movies ever.

God Tier:
Batman Begins
Dark Knight Rises

Great Tier:
X2
Watchmen
Superman

Very Good Tier:
Amazing Spider-Man
Batman
Batman Returns
The Dark Knight
V for Vendetta

Good Tier:
Iron Man
Avengers
X-Men First Class

Ok Tier:
Hulk (Lee)
Thor
Captain America

Fuck everything else

I just got back from watching it.

I left the theater confused. I could not believe that it was Christopher Nolan who directed this film. It was not good. And I can't believe I'd end up typing this, but it's the truth. I love Batman Begins and I love The Dark Knight. But this felt like a cash in from everyone except for Michael Caine.

This movie was like a Nolan fan boy taking a shot at film making. This film was fucking boring. It was extremely tedious when there wasn't a spectacle. Bane was awesome with the little time he was given but apart from that this movie sucked balls. I expected the film to take it's final and most important idea/statement and explore upon it and leave us with something profound to think about. It wasn't. I wanted 3 hours of FEARING the monster that is Bane. I wanted the theater to be tense. But instead there was laughter in response to dumb silly things happening in the movie. Oh my fucking god. This film wasn't really about anything besides ''OH LOOK ITS BEEN 8 YEARS GOTHAMS IN TROUBLE AGAIN LETS JUST FULL CIRCLE WITH REFERENCES FROM THE FIRST OKCOOL'' I am still in disbelief. Biggest disappointment of 2012 for me.

I thought it was fine but nothing I would ever ever watch again. Hulk is only up there because it sounds absolutely phenomenal on a good setup and there are a couple scenes that I think are handled really really well in the movie.

Thor isn't awful, its just...incredibly low key. Of all the recent Marvel movies Thor is the one that feels smallest in scale. Its just about Thor learning humility in some small town in Arizona. Which is weird because he's the most larger-than-life of the Avengers.

This is what overhyping does. Even TDK had those "dumb silly things" that people laughed at, in fact it had a lot more than this one.

Sounds like you just created an idea of what the film would be in your mind and it wasn't what you wanted or expected.

Yup, I don't agree with everything you said here but my general sentiment is the same.
