IIRC you said your boss ordered you to shave your facial hair last time. Do you think she will let you keep the beard this time, if it ends up being a little longer/fuller than the last time?

Yeah, she doesn't like facial hair on her staff. Will try to groom it and see if it looks respectable enough before getting back to work. Perhaps that will change her mind.

Story time:
A few years ago there was this guy at work with longish hair who didn't shave that often. The boss didn't like that look (I admit the look wasn't favorable for him, he overdid it a bit).
She told him to get a haircut and shave. He ignored the "suggestion". A few days later, she bought a grooming kit (shampoo, scissors, razor, deodorant, comb, etc.) and called all the male staff to her office. In front of us she gave him the kit and proceeded to tell a small speech about how bad and "indecent" he looked and that he should aim to look like the rest of his co-workers. The guy quit 2 days later.
It was pretty damn embarrassing :\

I was in a booth in the Train station in Hamburg, Germany trying to get face pics with the right dimensions to get a visa to be able enter China, the guys that had hired me there had already bought the flightticket and the fucking embassy was hours away, to me it felt like a 007 movie, running and jumping everywhere to not miss the appointment. I was scared shitless.. I guess it show in my face, hehe.

I had the same problem when I took a month of leave when I PCS'd. I let the beard grow out, the wife hated it. She liked my hair longer though.
